I literally was debating putting these in the pick ems for next week. Just to throw a wrench in the process :P

Newman’s OL and RB #24 just wore Pahokee down.

Pahokee had success running the ball, but coaches called more passing plays. Good game, on to the next one.

They probably called more passing plays because Roman Catholic had like 500 yards and 6 touchdowns through the air against them. Some ridiculous numbers like that

I didn't know that. We drove by Miami a few years ago. That is a stunning campus. Rough game tonight though for both teams. Small rosters and very little talent, especially Miami. The game didn't kickoff until around 8:15 or so due to lightning, then we had a 20 minute or so delay when the lights went out before they could finish the half. They skipped the half and kept playing, but we cut out when it was 27-0, with Coral Gables in the lead.

Coral Gables used to be called Ponce De Leon High. I believe they changed their name to Coral Gables High in 1950.

Miami vs Edison is actually the first matchups in Dade. Then Ponce came along shortly after and would play both. Then Jackson came in the 30’s. So those were the 4 big high schools in Dade for the longest. There were some smaller schools like Miami Military Academy and a bunch of private schools, but those were the 4 top dogs for the longest

  4. Just looked it up. Here’s the results in the 1960’s.

    1960 Miami 13, Coral Gables 13 - tie

(Miami finished (8-0-1) and won the national title

    1962 Miami 19, Coral Gables 6

(Miami finished 9-0 and won the national title)

    1964 Coral Gables 13, Miami 6

(Coral Gables finishes 12-0 and won the national title)

    1965 Miami 14, Coral Gables 7

(Miami finished 12-0 and won the national title)

    1967 Coral Gables 16, Miami 0

(Coral Gables finished 12-0 and won the national title. Miami went 10-1)

    1968 Coral Gables 24, Miami 0

(Coral Gables went 12-1 and won a share of the national title)

    1969 Coral Gables 35, Miami 7

(Coral Gavles finished 10-0 and won the national title)

Wait a min @nolebull813 how did jones stay in losing to a unranked severely underdog Evan’s squad and Evan’s didn’t even get in lol

Evans lost to West Orange. Jones was top 10. Im not gonna just throw them out. One 3 point game with a rival.

There are unranked teams who beat ranked teams all the time. But if you put the unranked team in, then wouldn’t you need to put in all the teams that beat them. It just doesn’t work to judge a team on one game only.

it was a bad loss and they tumbled 10 spots. But i couldn’t bring Evans in without bringing in West Orange.

    Man Dillardboy,

Your Panthers should set up a Tuesday evening scrimmage with the FAU scout team to try to find a team that may give you some competition.

Back in the day, (pre-1930’s) teams would typically play college freshman teams. But that was when lineman were 150 pounds :P

no, you’re missing the mark. As a leader of young men, part of your responsibility is to distill qualities that will help them in life. One of those is compassion. When you’re up by a ridiculous amount of points, you do not need to pile on. Now if this is a playoff game or some statement game against a highly ranked rival that’s another thing. This is not that. This is beating up on your downtrodden neighbor. And Robinson has played plant close just two years ago. 21 to 14. But that coach left for USC. And the program basically got decimated when all the good players went elsewhere. The new staff, if they are able to keep it together, will be fine. This will be a moment they can look back at if they stick together and build on it. But still, the other side should just run the ball up the middle when you’re up by 60 points. I understand that you want the back ups to get reps. But there’s a point when even that is unnecessary.

I get that. Compassion is key. Even if the coaches have issues you don’t take it on kids who have no part in the quarrel.

Sounds like there needs to be another mercy rule. The game gets called when a team is up by 55. What do you think about that?

  11. I think he asking why did Plant dismantle Robinson like that and not call the dogs off.

My answer is it’s not Plant’s responsibility to call the dogs off and switch the entire game plan to appease some team who obviously shouldn’t be playing varsity football.

i wish there was 8 man for public schools. We have about 150-200 teams in this state that would be better suited for it
