  1. I know a lot of you guys attend mainly just the game a of your teams, but does anyone have plans to go to games away from their home? List some games you want to go, or intend on going to around the state .

Week 1 I would love to drive up to Valdosta, and watch the doubleheader with Plant and Manatee squaring off with 2 Georgia teams.

American Heritage vs Apopka is a must see.

I normally wouldn't drive that far to Valdosta, but I'm getting 2 games and their oos,so it's definitely interesting.

Other than that I would have to look some games up. I probably won't travel further than 2 hours besides the Valdosta games

  2. The preseason awards for the out of state games this year......

Best Match up: Miami Central vs Hoover

Biggest Advantage for Florida: Escambia over Vidor,TX

Biggest disadvantage for Florida: Oakleaf vs Wayne County,GA

Farthest Traveling Florida team: IMG Academy (1,148 miles to Plano,TX)

Farthest out of state team coming to Florida: Fountain Valley,CA (2,511 miles to play South Plantation)

Shortest trip for Florida team traveling oos: Hilliard (17 miles to Charlton County)

  3. @Nolebull813 So who do you think is the best or at leats a shoe in to be in the state game coming from up North.

Too tough to predict the North. There are so many good teams it's tough to decide. Injuries play a big part. People are saying Apopka and Manatee will be down, but I don't think so.

I will go with my homer pick and say Plant makes it out.

South Dade got a bunch of transfers, and Miramar is always at the top, so I would like to see a rematch of Plant/Miramar

  4. First Coast will not be battle tested.

If you look back on the last decade, the best season in history was a 40-0 loss to a 2 loss team. Manatee was in a dog fight with FPC that year, escaping alive 13-10

First Coast is that team you never bet to win it all because they never have, and the safe bet would be to go with the field, until 1 year they prove you wrong.

Same thing with Apopka until 2 years ago.

  5. im not sure beating down a really bad Baker County team in a spring game could help you see that, but they should always be in the running.

First Coast is a Jacksonville area all star team, and hold the title of "Best team with the most pathetic schedule"

i think 8A North is too tough for them with Apopka, Dr Phillips, Plant, Manatee, and Fort Pierce Central lurking.

and Apopka took them to the woodshed last year. I dont think they get there. same round, same result in my opinion for 1st choice Coast.

  7. The FHSAA, just like any business, will only make decisions based on money and not the concern of the product making them the money.

I can bet you anything they don't sit around saying how can we make it easier on teams, but rather how can we make the most money.

Honestly, the FHSAA will only compact the classes down if 1 of 2 things happen. The same amount of total playoff games are played. OR the money they receive from the playoff games is increased to make up for the loss of games.

There are 96 games in the 1st round of the playoffs. You would have to figure out how to compact the top 6 classes into 4 without lessening the amount of games under 96.

  8. I think teams shouldn't be chained to the class that their enrollment states. I know teams petition to move up, but I think if a team has less than a .333 winning percentage during a cycle , then the FHSAA can move them down if it fits logistically.

And if teams have a winning percentage of .850 then I think they can be moved up. That way your not just bound by enrollment, but rather give enormous flexibility to even the playing field.
