How many total classifications will there be now?  Did the FHSAA just double the number of state champions that will be crowned?    If so, I guess that means they doubled the number of state championship games that will be played . . . which will result in more revenue?   Hmmmmm.

Well, I guess I can start looking forward to the unsolvable debates as to whether the Metro state champ would have beaten the Suburban state champ had they only been able to play.   That's assuming the metro champ and the suburban champ in a particular classification don't play each other to crown a true state champ.

It's a bad idea we are stuck with because of a bunch of cry babies just like the Rural class.  Cry enough and you get what you want.  This is a bad plan and does nothing to adress the problems.

And what do you suggest they do? All I hear is "this plan sucks"

If you have something better than share it

Don't you just love the "Fake Suburban Title" argument from those that favored the other plan.  The plan they admit would have a third top quality teams, a third average quality teams and a third poor quality teams.  Win two titles in the poor quality teams category and that is an accomplishment.  NO FAKE TITLE here.

The fake suburban title is great for your team. You and Venice can play each other every year for the title and avoid Apopka, DP and other Orlando/Miami teams. Just cant wait until we all see the vast variety of teams winning state championships now in both levels. It will be same teams in all 9 who win state every year and then lots of teams go independent.

Hey, we are talking about dozens of teams with a winning heritage that have challenged for championships and even won some.  Pine Forest, Escambia, Pensacola Washington, Niceville, Wakulla, Columbia, St. Augustine, Manatee, Sarasota Riverview, Naples, Cocoa, Rockledge, Merritt Island, Lake Gibson, Mainland and many others.  Yes, it also includes Lakeland, Venice and Osceola.  We don't want to avoid Apopka, DP, Seminole, Columbus and other championship contenders as we regularly schedule them in the past and will do so in 2022.  You want to demean these teams with a winning culture dating back way before the transfer became an issue.   But instead have a consolation prize for whatever school you represent with no such track record.  Best to take your own advice and go independent.

Predictions for state champs for next year and all the years after as long as they keep this dumb idea going.

Metro-  !a Chaminade                                                                             Suburb- 1 Madison

             2A- Central                                                                             1b- Victory Christian

             3a- Northwestern/STA/ Edgewater                                      2A - Cocoa

4a- Apopka and Columbus                                                  3A- Mainland or Naples

                                                                                                             4a- Venice/Osceola/ Lakeland

Maybe we can make the state title trophies out of gold for Metro and Hayseed for the second class state group Suburb.

Your title will be seen as the B track title and everyone knows it.  The whole rationale of the suburban idea is to avoid good teams and separate from them. So that shows you your Suburban title is fake compared to real state champion teams in Metro.

None of the schools I highlighted will view it as a B track title.  That is only your view, but all these schools I highlighed will most definitely look at titles under the program you favor as a consolation prize, not a title.  You keep crying about the difference in school size and I would guess that Pahokee, Trenton, Madison and so many other 2A or 3A schools would regularly beat up on your 6A school which you are not willing to identify.  We have fought tooth and nail against STA in finals, losing but not making excuses.  You want a disparity?  I read several years ago that for 15 straight years every single OL from STA receive some type of a scholarship to college.  The games are won in the trenches and no school in Florida could have made a claim like that back when.  Today, more and more of these privates in big Metros are fielding teams that can match that and NO suburban school can acquire that level of talent at the line of scrimmage.  Keep believing your team can't compete against the top teams and you will full fill that prediction groveling in mediocrity.

A couple of quick questions:

1.  What was the primary argument advanced by the proponents of this plan?  Not "what do you think the real reason was" but what did the proponents say was the reason this was necessary?

2.  Does this apply to all sports or just football?  If only football, why doesn't the same rationale apply to other sports?

I reckon this gentleman just pissed off a bunch of the Seminole fans in my local area for the 4A title.   Who knows what the schools in Jax are thinking along with a few others in Miami as Columbus squeaked by Palmetto.  The other Metro's are probable but unlikely anyone challenging STA consistently.  I see all the Suburban having many more possibilities.

If population was the big difference why were some counties who are in top 8 or 9 not in metro. Plan conveniently used population density. what the heck is even in Seminole county. Parks and bears is all I heard. They are not close to being metro. Why is polk not in  metro. Convenient I am sure or their state rep might blow up whole FHSAA. This is a group of school who are glad to be second rate fake state champs.. that the reason for the plan. To act like real state champs when they are almost good enough now. wont help average schools in either division. FAKE Championships- I wonder which games college scouts would prefer to see. The REAL state Champs of metro or the suburban chumps.

    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
    • Ocala Vanguard https://x.com/VanguardFB/status/1772951193179840761?s=20
    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
    • Are you still talking to me??  Thought I was pretty clear for you not to waste your breath on this subject matter, but somehow you are missing the point.  Teacher unions have limited power in FL because the candidates they overwhelming support keep losing.  If they had won, the teacher union vote had a lot to do with it and would be wielding that power.  Osceola county which isn't a GOP stronghold during the past two national elections had the journalism students for the OHS monthly newsletter (Kowboy Jake) interview the faculty as to their political leanings.  A sample of about 30 teachers that were interviewed were voting as follows:  25 D vs 5 R.  Enough said.
