But if Pahokee gets back great they wil be able to cherry pick from a big county that other schools in rural counties don’t have that luxury

Pahokee and Glades Central are to far out West to attract transfers. We’ve always won with home grown kids. Both schools loose more kids to Glades Day (Belle Glade), then they attract. Wish we could get some OL to come in.

Seriously, we are worried that Pahokee is going to start picking up transfers? Glades Central is the closest school to Pahokee, they are 13.3 miles, and no kid is turning on Belle Glade for Pahokee (or vice versa). And if we are concerned, why are we not concerned that Union County is only 15.9 miles from Bradford. (Yes, school choice allows you to attend another district's schools if there is room).

No then don’t be scared if the metro schools might do the same thing we shouldn’t need this split for surburban , seriously you think Hamilton County Florida 14,500 ever has a chance against Pahokee in Palm Beach

It’s not that your to far out west , just saying your still in a county with over 1 million people  were you have a chance and a true rural school has zero chance

Hamilton County not having any stability as a program or school is why they can't even compete in 1a

There's a lot of problems over at that school just from the little that has hit the news wire in the past few years

I know they don’t have stability but if they did still have no we’re to look for transfers to compete with bigger counties

I have a question how did y’all drop from either 3 or 4 A down to 1 A did a lot of kids leave the school.

You have to remember that even though 1A is listed as the smallest classification, 2a actually has the lowest cutoff for students

1a requires rural designation and 3a cutoff is higher than 1a but also goes above 2a so some teams that were over the mark were in 3a such as Fort White and Madison County but once they got below 600 they went to 1a, same deal with pahokee

You do know the only reason they got to 1A is because the created a charter school which you don’t have to count the kids to your enrollment or they would be over the 600

Pahokee is the smallest public school in Palm Beach County and probably in Broward and Dade countries. Comparable schools would be Cardinal Newman (Private), Kings Academy (private), Glades Day (private/refused to play), so we’ve always competed in 3A/2B. I guess travel/scheduling (money) made it easy. Pahokee has always competed with Pt. St. Joe, Ft. Meade, Frostproof, and Wildwoods.

Don’t think Pahokee high has had a graduating class over 70 kids the past 30 years.

A lot of families have left the area for jobs (state prison and hospital shut down). Seminole Ridge, Royal Palm, Wellington, and Palm Beach Central have benefited from that. 2 kids went to IMG (Markevious Brown/Ole Miss and Knijeah Harris who may be one of the top OGs next year).

Correct which is exactly why they are in 1A to begin with and 1A was built to try and keep schools like Hamilton from going independent

Do you know anything about 1 A ? It was created because the small rural schools wanted to get away from 2 powerhouse private schools in Trinity Christian an University Christian nobody knew you would have former State Champs from 3A and 4A now drop down Union County, Madison County, Pahokee , Taylor County all won State in Bigger Classes .Also wasn’t Ft White once 3 A and their is rumors before this Metro/ Surburban that Suwannee County was wanting to create a charter school to drop dow to 1 A. So the small rural schools will have to go independent if things stay the same. You can take the 3 top schools I mentioned and add in Hawthorne who had like what 10 big time transfers and is in a county of 280,000 and you next 20 out 20 State Champs will come from that group of teams. So if you think that is fair then Lake City Columbia shouldn’t complain about the schools in the Metro .

More blattering as somehow college scouts managed to find Derrick Henry in Yulee of all places.

"Find" Derrick Henry? Do you have any idea how known he was all of his years in high school, and how widespread the coverage was of him? Nobody needed to "find" him, he was very well-known.

What were the numbers when you had Anquan Boldin ? Came to the State title game vs Bolles and that was a great team you had

About the same. Pahokee is a REALLY small school. There have never been over 400 high schoolers on the campus. The middle school kids are always the majority of the student population

Some of these posters believing Pakokee is recruiting from the metro area just showing their ignorance.

Those privates are why they pushed for the change yes because several programs in 1a were ready to go independent (a few actually did)

Suwannee isn't close enough to dropping to 1a even with a charter school

Personally I think there are several reforms I would do to 1A because what we have currently isn't working

Yeah I'm aware of the loophole they used and because unless the kid plays a sport at Madison they won't count towards the numbers

And without 1a Madison would have been stuck in 3a with teams like TCA and chaminade the last few years which I'm sure they would have hated
