No then don’t be scared if the metro schools might do the same thing we shouldn’t need this split for surburban , seriously you think Hamilton County Florida 14,500 ever has a chance against Pahokee in Palm Beach

Pahokee has a population of about 7,000 and a high school student body around 200

Yeah I'm aware of the loophole they used and because unless the kid plays a sport at Madison they won't count towards the numbers

And without 1a Madison would have been stuck in 3a with teams like TCA and chaminade the last few years which I'm sure they would have hated

They would have won dude . The teams were strong enough to win.

If Madison thought they could win why would they leave 3a?

Why go to a weaker class if they were capable of competing? When districts were abolished Bolles and TCA VOLUNTEERED to move up classification to play in a large classification to have a district yet second 1a came around Madison wanted to get their numbers down to join it

Idk man, but If you check schedules you know madison would complete.  They literally hang with Columbia or is Columbia trash?

This individual isn't brave enough to show who he is speaking for and thinks his barbs against strong suburban programs diminish all their accomplishments.  All the while being perfectly happy competing against losers and collecting a consolation prize in the proposal he supports.

I get that not a lot of people live out there , but the fact is your still closer than all the other rural schools to a bigger population of people that maybe y’all get another Boldin and some stud on the other side of the county might want to come play with him and that’s what these small rural counties would never have a chance to get. But none of this matters because I think y’all are going to the Metro 1A anyways

Suburb schools took their ball and went home. Now they want the state and metro teams to respect their joke titles.  Pathetic

Look us rural teams didn’t care one way or the other about the vote . It just gets me that some of these posters are 2 faced complain about going against bigger counties with more players or they know what teams will win their class every year but that’s the same problems we have in rural 1 A and nobody at the fhsaa cares to fix it.

When we had Boldin, no one came. When we dominated 2B with Janoris Jenkins (UF), Micanor Regis (UM), Martavious Odoms (Michigan), Vincent Smith (Michigan), Antone Smith (FSU), Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest) no one came to play for Pahokee. Pahokee and Belle Glade do not have favorable perceptions in Palm Beach County (that’s an entirely different conversation), plus it’s about 30 miles from the closest city.

Pahokee and GC only get media coverage when we win state. Everything else is a small blip.

You forget that for all intensive purposes Columbia is a rural school

Lake City is not some metropolitan, it's a small run down town with rising crime and no future

If anything I'm very sure the reason Madison ran from 3a is the same reason that a lot of these rural areas wanted this suburban/metro to pass

They knew that they didn't want to be stuck in a classification and district with metro privates that they perceived to be recruiters

It's also why Madison has wanted no part of chaminade or TCA when scheduling even though they have been willing to play other good teams over the years in some cases multiple times

The reason I tend to not care about the 1a issue is that a lot of these problems are their own fault

There are several easy fixes that the schools are stubborn about and won't change because they want to game the system to get their school a ring

Here's one very easy fix, 2 regions instead of 4

Very necessary because 1a doesn't have the numbers to justify having 4 regions

1A has also stood it's ground on the 600 enrollment number when they should just set a school number to cutoff on

But again the schools too stubborn to do that but want the FHSAA to fix their problems but won't ask for anything to be changed but "get this school out of here"

For all you sub level ...Oh wait. Suburban teams. Why are you whining here. You should be happy. You won. so Lakeland does not have to deal with STA ever again and Osceola gets to dodge the Orlando schools to win a sub level title. Congrats. Ask anyone not associated with either side and ask which side has more credibility. The side with all the teams that won 90% of the titles for the last decade or the side with 10%. But you keep on dreaming both titles will carry same weight .  My 6a team will get to play 7a school that are amazing, have a 1000 more students than us and recruit and they will rock us and everyone will be happy. I am sure many teams will drop out and many teams who think they are safe from going to a higher district will get to be bounced up when all the metro 1 and 2 and 3 a school bolt this pathetic trophy for everyone joke idea.

Didn't Chris Dunkley 5 Star WR transfer to Pahokee from Royal Palm Beach?

He’s originally from Pahokee and came back to play his SR year. A lot of kids who leave want to come back and play there. Adarious and Akeem Dent (though he finished at Palm Beach Central). Tamarcus Porter (Pitt) families are from Pahokee that moved away and those kids came back to play their SR seasons. All those kids had ties to the community before coming back. Grandparents, aunts, and uncles still live here.

About the same. Pahokee is a REALLY small school. There have never been over 400 high schoolers on the campus. The middle school kids are always the majority of the student population

Serious question:  in theory, middle school kids become high school kids.   So, I can understand a disproportionate number of middle school students at times, but as those kids age up, the script should flip and you should have a disproportionate number of high school students.  What's happening to those kids between middle school and high school?

Okay so you either didn't play or weren't that good because you ain't showing off no championship ring and based on what you said unless your winning a ring and from a metro school you aren't good and the athletes suck

Yup so If all your gonna do is blab on forever feel free to spread your garbage to nobody

Truth hurts Columbia. Please explain how Seminole got placed in Metro when they were in suburb with original idea. Maybe so Lee county could escape and get its 2 members to vote for separating Florida in A  and C track football divisions.   While you are adding fake titles...why dont you just Create 286 classifications so all of you can be fake state champs. Participation trophies for all country bumkin teams.

I have a much different system that does the same idea which would have addressed the issue differently

Maybe if you metro cheaters weren't always recruiting this issue wouldn't have gotten bad

Want to blame someone? Blame these metros who out there getting 10-15 transfers every off-season and creating this mess

A lot of families move away. We have a high migrant population, that travels for work (sugar cane, corn, rice, etc). It’s always been like that. 7/8th grade classes have about 150+ kids, but by the senior year there’s 70 kids graduating.

Jobs and housing are issues also. A lot of people work in West Palm, Riviera and that’s a 45 minute to hour drive. So it’s convenient to move closer to your job.
