@KeemD321I said back in January that you guys are one of the few public schools further north than Sarasota County that can keep up with STA, on a good day! Now, the game has come to fruition! Can’t quantify how excited I am for your Tigers Keem. Go kick their asses!

They losing big buddy,

Whoaa.  Thought for a minute you were really looking for the ultimate test and had scheduled Madison.

Hey @Ray IcazaI emailed Peacock and told him that Osceola might need a week 3. He wrote me back and said he’s trying to work out a deal to have STA come play Venice in week 3. He said he might try to schedule a game against Osceola for week 6. Would that work?

That is an open week of which we tentatively now have 5 left.  I do know in talks with our coach he has the other 5 targeted with non district foes plus the spring game, KOC also done and he left remaining weeks to schedule district opponents once those get decided in the next month.  This situation with the FHSAA doing this so late is a disaster for all.

Osceola plays St Cloud Week 3, Week 6 is a District Week. We have 5 non-district games scheduled, waiting on district assignments to complete the schedule.

St thomas 55 cocoa 14. Simple

I doubt that honestly. Cocoa's coach is STA former OC so there's the connection and one of the reasons why this game is happening. Secondly what makes you think this an easy blowout win for STA? Did you not see what Cocoa and many Brevard teams accomplished last season?

Also looks like Tampa Bay Tech is reaching out in the comments of this tweet to see if Cocoa had anymore openings

That would be a great match-up.  There would be a tremendous amount of athleticism on the field at one time if those two teams squared off.

That said, unless they played a pre-season/kickoff classic game, I'm a little confused.   Other than an occasional out-of-state game and mandatory district games, I thought Hillsborough County teams had to play all of their regular season games against other Hillsborough County teams.   Is the current Hills Co. AD relaxing those rules in an attempt to curry favor with folks from other parts of the state?   He is one of the 5 nominees for the FHSAA Executive Director positon.

Its the kings of Florida man, not Venice Indians

Most will agree that they are one of the most consistently dominant team in Florida.  But as others have pointed out, against very good teams you have to still be at your best or you lose.  Who thought just last year they would lose to Tampa Jesuit  OR in 2018 lose to Lakeland for the championship OR in 2017 lose to WHO?  Venice for the championship.  No guarantees little fella.

They might have some Peter Griffins on their O-line but being huge doesn't guarantee that the O-line will hold up against Cocoa's front four. Our offensive line last year struggled to block them when they lined up in-tight instead of in 4-man even gaps, generating pressure on nearly a quarter of Venice's total offensive snaps. And that might have been our best front line in school history! My feeling is that although STA might have some big runs in the game, Cocoa will be disciplined enough to stop them from running wild and create enough plays to force a few punts from Aquinas. If they become undisciplined and create senseless penalties, they will not be able to stop STA's offense and will sell the game away. None of my rhetoric means that STA will automatically win the game, though. The Tigers are going to make them work for it.

    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
    • Ocala Vanguard https://x.com/VanguardFB/status/1772951193179840761?s=20
    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
