USA Today Rankings

Can you reference where you heard or read that?

Does this include Spring games and Jamborees as well?

I have had numerous conversations with the former high school football editor at Maxpreps along with Dallas Jackson and Jim Halley of USA today himself. Spring games are taken into account as well. That’s one of the criteria for ranking most teams in the preseason along with other factors.

Here is a link to Maxpreps Week 9/2/2015  Regional Computer Polls for 2015:

Notice IMG in the South is #1 and (last week - #1) as well.  I remember other National polls did not affect IMG as well.. A few people in forums were discussing that they were curious how IMG was not dropped after losing to AHP and it was generally concluded that it was a preseason game.

Both teams (AHP and IMG) started the season the following week  nationally and per the FHSAA at 0-0.  STA beat Dillard 24-0 in their Kickoff Classic that week - Did they get any credit for shutting out  a "good" team?

I'll be the first person to tell you that both teams were trying to win that game and IMG got beat (physically and mentally)  but if we count that game as a win for AHP we need to count all pre-season games as wins and losses and that includes spring games from what you are saying - nationwide.  All of them.

Computer vs Human poll.

Notice the poll below is the first poll after KOC weekend. Notice where IMG was before and where they were after. Don't tell me preseason doesn't count.

I can't stand Dallas Jackson but yeah kickoffs should count and so there is no 2 sided argument on my part I do treat the Apopka game last year as a loss just like any regular season game and the west Orange game the year before that we won just like a regular season because jv never stepped foot on the field

It obviously does in that Maxpreps Human poll.  If that is the case for that  human poll...Hell, we may as well start putting together a National poll based on spring scrimmages and jamborees!

So columbiahighfan2016.  I am officially starting with you.  Who was the team that beat Columbia this spring?

They dropped in every poll after that loss. Putting polls together are not needed for spring games. Waaay too early. But again whenever you take the field you're evaluated in some way.

No. You lost to Sandalwood. Not against your record but I am definitely taking it into account when I do my rankings.

I'm sure you did, you probley took us down in ratings because of the viera loss last year, if we go 9-1 or 10-0 we will be in polls heading into playoffs which is only thing that matters

For preseason positioning it's a factor.

I hear you...you are basically saying (but not really saying) it is a psychological factor for pre-season or even early regular season polls.  If that is the case and teams and coaches know that then wouldn't it be wise to leave your starters in the whole game in a spring game?

I'm serious though ...We should start a new topic with spring/preseason results of games and jamborees. Wouldn't it be easier to make our preseason rankings?

We can do all the preseason nonsense but it's about how you produce, we were in only one top 25 poll on this board last year and despite no optimist views we went 12-2 so the preseason polls that people gave up on us ment nothing because we did better then expected

Listen...Columbia already started the 2016 season getting blasted by Sandbox.  I am not giving up on Columbia but I am surely questing their legitimacy.

Who is sandbox and the issue I am struggling to get is even before we threw the spring game in you were doubting Columbia, you felt we were top 25 worthy when we won district, you still felt it when we beat bartram to go to final 4, the only thing that went negative between then and the start of spring was viera game, so is that why you have us so low in polls? Because of a playoff loss from last year or is there another reason, I'm all for a opinion and I've proven to have one but you have never explained to me why you have us starting lower then last year when we coming off a better season

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
