Columbia defeats DeLand 21-16 in the rain to get first win of the year

Columbia up next against Madison County next Friday

Glad you guys won. Keeps my prediction of 6-3 a possibility. Definitely does not look like it was an easy win. Hopeful that you guys get get to .500 this coming week.

The thing is Columbia definitely left points on the board including late in the game when they went to victory formation while on DeLand 20 yard line, we could have made it more lopsided but Columbia spent much of the 4th quarter just trying to drain clock because of the elements

It definitely helped getting Matthews and Tolliver back last night

Good win by CHS.

Wonder what the Madison Homer will blame two losses in a row on.

Check the scorestream thread of the game and you can see for yourself

Overall this is definitely not the same Madison County team from past years, Columbia seemed to dominate them in the trenches and Madison was uncharacteristically high in penalty yards, personally unless Madison County can significantly improve I don't see them winning 1R this year

Though I respect Madison for continuing to keep us on the schedule and best of luck the rest of the season

Just checked scorestream and I was dying lmao. Jesse is on a different level of delusional. Can't even say he's a homer cause that's not his school and since he's a fair weather fan he admitted that Blountstown is his team lol.

Did all that talkin, yet went radio silent when it came to that bet that HE initiated lol. He just needs to stop talkin about football, especially football from other areas because he has no idea what he's talking about. And if he dared to venture down south saying what he says about them which I highly doubt then things won't turn out pretty for him.

I think the funniest part was when Madison fans basically kicked him out because they got tired of him making them look bad

Looks like Madison is not at their sale dominant level but Columbia took care of business.

TC is gonna be the test for Columbo to see if they turned the tide and can make a run.

TCA is probably the last remaining team on the schedule that will challenge Columbia, overall I think it will come down to Columbia building off of last week and winning the turnover battle

Through this season they won the turnover battle last 2 weeks and won the game, they lost the turnover battle the first 2 weeks and lost

Didn't check "scorestream thread/webpage (?)",  wasn't aware it existed. But didn't Madison's long time coach and stabilizer leave this year ?  Since everything starts from the TOP are the Cowboys in freefall with the new guy ?

Honestly I didn't think Price Harris is the problem at Madison

Based on what I saw the biggest thing was Columbia basically took advantage of Madison lack of size on the DL and just pounded them play after play and wore them down

I told people on the sideline that the ironic thing is Columbia basically beat Madison with a taste of their own medicine and beat them the same way Madison beats all the 1a teams over the years and that's using the depth to wear them down and just pound the fight out of them, they have some athletes but Columbia game planned to hold them in check for most of the night and even when Madison got into the RedZone they couldn't pull the trigger

I feel like Madison County can compete in 1R but they don't look like the favorite this season. Columbia if they played Union the same way we played Madison would have won but I'm not sure we shut Union out. We will see tomorrow against TCA just how far Columbia has come since that Union County game

I know this thread it about Columbia, but I don't want to make a new topic. Columbia's former district rival, Riverside, finally has a new field. Thank god, that field was one of the worst year in and year out. Alachua County Commission needs to step up and do the same for Citizen's Field in Gainesville.

That field was always a dump and I told anyone who would listen that citizens field needs a turf field

If Tallahassee could get Gene Cox a turf field someone in Gainesville should be able to get a turf field for citizens

Even with an overall sloppy first half, Columbia was able to get the blowout win over Orange Park

We definitely have some stuff to clean up on but even with some questionable officiating (such as the head ref telling coaches on the sidelines they will let the kids play but calling holding penalties and PI on Columbia even though there were similar infractions on Orange Park which they wouldn't call) Columbia still should have not been trailing at halftime

3 first half interceptions including 2 of them coming inside of Orange Park 30 yard line which kept them in the game longer than it should have been

Next week is homecoming against Middleburg which will also be the debut of the video scoreboard but also an opportunity to clinch the first consecutive district championship in 22 years with a win over Middleburg and an Orange Park win over Ridgeview

Columbia goes to 5-3 on the season heading into their regular season finale against Ridgeview with a 35-22 win over Gadsden County (Gadsden scored the last TD in final minute against Columbia backup defense)

The offense needs to come out more aggressive in the playoffs but I like how the defense is playing right now including forcing 5 turnovers last night. So far this season Columbia is unbeaten at home and undefeated when winning the turnover margin

Congrats on the win, as I said from the beginning, 6-3 season record (I messed up the Deland/Union County games).

Your prediction was on the money unlike  @nolebull813 who predicted 4-5 and missing the playoffs

why did you initially pick DeLand before the season anyway? I personally think DeLand is a bit better than people think but it was a weird choice for a loss as Columbia typically beats teams at the level of DeLand and probably beats Union if they don't have 4 turnovers

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
