Now that the first week is in the books, all I can say is “WEEK 1 Did Not disappoint!”

Now entering Week 2 if I had to post my south Florida top 10 it would be.

#1 MIAMI Central (1-0)

#2 Chaminade Madonna (1-0)

#3 American Heritage (2-0)

#4 MIAMI Northwestern (1-0)

#5 St Thomas Aquinas (1-0)

#6 Dillard (1-0)

#7 Columbus (1-0)

#8 Homestead (1-0)

#9 Western (1-0)

#10 Cardinal gibbons. (1-0)

i put gibbons at 10 because right now they don’t look all that impressive. After a big graduation class & a few transfers that transfer out they look a shell of their past championship teams.

3 weeks ago they lost a referee scrimmage to a below Avg Blanche ely team (8-7)

the very next week they didn’t put anybody points against chaminade Madonna

& last week they won (11-6) vs a dematha team that’s nowhere near what they use to be. But it’s a long season and a lot can change. But for right now, this is where I’m at top 10 wise.

Dark Horses:BTW (1-0) MIAMI Norland, Avant grande, Miramar, palmetto, Plantation.

A referee’s scrimmage? Let’s not count that! In the same breath they played  your #2 team to a 0-0 tie! That doesn’t count? DeMatha could give everyone a game in the top 10 & prob beat half of em…..I tell ya this, I’d take Gibbons HC, DuBuc, on GAMEDAY over most of your list. HAVING HAD MY RANT, there isn’t too much wiggle room in that top 10……

let’s hope Cham only plays a half, like they did vs St John’s,  vs Dillard.

Ref scrimmages are also typically played on 50 yard fields instead of 100

It's not a true game atmosphere, not even up to KOC standards

To lazy to look, but are all those teams METRO ?  If so then the 4 titles from Suburban seem a little hollow...just saying.

Almost by definition, all of the teams are Metro.   The eight counties that make up Metro are:  Broward, Dade, Duval, Hillsborough, Orange, Palm Beach, Pinellas, and Seminole.  So, if you're doing a Top 10 of South Florida teams (which is what this particular thread is), I'm not sure what you have other than teams in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach.

If your point is that there aren't any other good teams in the state (or that there's few, if any teams, outside of South Florida that would crack into that Top 10 if the list were expanded to state wide), you may have a point . . . although I suspect there would be some argument there from folks who follow Lakeland, Buchholz, Niceville, Osceola and Venice.

Personally, I think that the top 4S teams that I just mentioned could compete with the top 4M teams (Apopka, Seminole, Columbus, to name a few).  And while it's really not fair to 'compare' 3S with 3M or 2S with 2M (because the enrollment numbers for the four Metro classifications are not the same as for the four Suburban classifications), I think it's safe to say that the top teams in 2S (other than Cocoa) would have a difficult time beating the top teams in 2M (like Central, Bolles, Berkeley, CCC, TC, AHP, CG, Norland, etc.) and the top teams in 3S (other than, perhaps, Lincoln and, just to stay on CHF's good side, Columbia) would have a difficult time beating the top teams in 3M (like STA, Dillard, Jones, Armwood, TBT, Jesuit, etc.).

So, while there may be a handful of really good teams in the Suburban group, the cream of the crop is definitely in Metro.

My mistake didn't "SEE" South Florida. Still not a fan of the split, showing my prejudices. #oldfool

    • Okay, how about that STA vs. Ida Baker matchup in your first round?  Does your analogy extend to South Florida slappies?  My opinion is simply that no one (except CoachGraham, apparently) would be interested in the 1 vs. 512, 2 vs. 511, and 200 other mismatches such a format would produce, regardless of geography.  But I could be wrong.  And now I'm thinking I should have skipped college.
    • Complaining about North Florida slappies losing to South Florida powers is like someone graduating high school complaining that companies are only hiring college graduates and not them. And then a company saying ok to make it fair, we will open division and only hire high school graduates.
    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
