That's it, no, no, no CM passes the ball with 15 seconds, runs to the line for another play and scores as time runs out. Cheap, cheap, score.  Cm 48-14. Unless this was payback from a previous slight, Chaminade didn't finish with class.

CCC called a timeout with 15 seconds left. That is why Chaminade Madonna scored the final touchdown. The Education of Dan in Daytona continues, we await the next game.

Didn't even have to look off defenders. QB zoned in. CCC is very, very good sqaud but NOTHING like BG. I like CM, just may not be up to the task of representing FL in the GEICO. I'd rather see Central, STA, or even Lakeland (provided they get past the gamers down in Venice, who always show up and play well, with their most talented or undertalented teams).

Jambun, any idea why CCC called the timeout?    Injured player?  A chance to regroup?  An opportunity to sub some guys in and let some seniors jog off the field to an ovation from the CCC fans?   Clearly, CCC didn't call the time out because they still thought they had a chance to win the game.

In any event, why not be the bigger man if you're C-M and simply take a knee (even if it's 4th down and it means you turn the ball over on downs).   The outcome of the game already has been decided.   Instead, it's "how dare you call a timeout; just for that, we'll run the ball down your throat for a meaningless TD just to punish you (and hope that no one on either team gets injured on this final play)."

I'd love some insight on this.

It won't be Lakeland for a couple of reasons even if they emerge victorious next week.

Listen, CCC calls a time out to "get some new guys in the title game ".  Jam, you do Daytona State basketball games all the time and see the same thing. The whole CM offensive team "sprinting" to the line of scrimmage, for another needless score, was not a good look.

I don't know why CCC called that timeout Perspective. I do know that there is a understanding that when a team that is winning on a running clock is trying not to score and run out the game clock, the trailing team should NOT call a timeout. That only shows up the winning team and encourages them to keep playing hard until the final seconds, which is what CM did. CM did nothing wrong, and the CCC coaching staff should take this as a learning experience.

Dan, CCC had plenty of time before that to get players into the game, the coaching staff knew that there was a running clock. Football and Basketball are two different sports, there is no running clock in College Basketball, calling a timeout for substitutions is quite common in the sport of basketball . CM was completely justified in achieving the final score, as CCC calling a timeout in that circumstance was a terrible look. That Coaching staff should have known better, they hopefully know better now.

    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
    • Are you still talking to me??  Thought I was pretty clear for you not to waste your breath on this subject matter, but somehow you are missing the point.  Teacher unions have limited power in FL because the candidates they overwhelming support keep losing.  If they had won, the teacher union vote had a lot to do with it and would be wielding that power.  Osceola county which isn't a GOP stronghold during the past two national elections had the journalism students for the OHS monthly newsletter (Kowboy Jake) interview the faculty as to their political leanings.  A sample of about 30 teachers that were interviewed were voting as follows:  25 D vs 5 R.  Enough said.
    • You missed the point of my union post. Teacher unions in strong union states have power. Florida unions have zero. They cant strike and the school board can implement a contract without the unions approval. Florida unions are not preventing any raise in Florida. The state has attacked a straw man here.
    • As a general rule, I am not a big supporter of unions in the public sector in particular.  They certainly had a place in the private sector during the industrialization of our nation, but today not so much.  I have no first-hand experience with unions representing our local law enforcement or firefighters but my interaction with the teachers union over several years in that profession is the basis of my opinion.
