Pahokee @ Fort Meade

Not to take anything from 2015 Pahokee ( they were a solid 1A team) and I do believe their abrupt team situation the day before Dixie cost them that game but realistically 2015 Pahokee lost at HOME to Boca Raton.....2015 Pahokee lost 14-35 to Glades Central.  Pahokee was fully intact versus both of those teams in the regular season.

2015 Trenton was very likely soundly better than both of those teams.

Actually you are incorrect. In the Glades Central game..Pahokee's QB played with one leg. And did a very good job against an athletic (4A) Glades Central team.

Pahokee did drop a close game to (8A) Boca Raton last year. But heck, they're 8A for pete's sake. And Boca went 2 games deep into the 8A playoffs last year.

Okay....and perhaps Glades Central had players injured as well....  Bottom line - Teams that lose to Glades Central by 22 are not ready to play with 2015 Trenton.

Boca Raton was a very solid Palm Beach 8A team last year.  Agree but again, I don't see that team hanging with 2015 Trenton.

Not to change the subject but how do you see Pahokee versus Glades Central this year?  Glades Central seems to be picking it up a bit of late and Pahokee has been very stout all season.  That loss to AHD for Glades Central does not look good though...  For whatever reason, AHD absolutely OWNS  Glades Central.

I would have liked to see 2015 Trenton play 2015 Glades Central. Hell, did Trenton have any tests at all last year?

Glades Central is playing much better. But they're O Line is suspect. They are having problems protecting their QB. Pahokee may be to much for them Defensively. But that game is always fun. Athletes on both teams flying everywhere.

How you think 2016 Pahokee matches up with 2016 Trenton?

I would say 2015 Trenton by at least 14 pts.  2016 Pahokee has not seen a team even close offensively to Trenton 2015.  I hear people saying they shut down 8A Boca Raton.  They did to a degree.  The game could have gone either way but to be truthful Boca Raton played that game with 2 QBs that could not hit the side of a barn from 20 yards out.

I say Trenton takes the game just because they had a better defense and slightly better offense.  2015 Glades Central Defense was not very good.  Particularly, the secondary.   That is what killed them versus BTW.

Gotcha...

I would lean Pahokee in a close one there. I think Pahokee is the more talented team this year, but I would not want to have to get through Trenton in the playoffs... I give the coaching edge to Trenton.

I have Pahokee as 3 point favorites this year teams but wouldn't be surprised if Trenton won the game

I disagree, the oc Pahokee have this year, is the oc that coach Pahokee to six straight state appearance...winning (five)!!!

I believe Orson Walkes started at Pahokee in 2004.  Walkes was part of 4 State Championships as an Assistant Coach/OC ....With that history and record, how the he11 was he not the best replacement for Donald "Blaze" Thompson from the get go?

How and why did Darren Hill and Alphonso Smith Jr. jump him?

Not to take anything away from Orson Walkes because he is obviously righting the ship over at Pahokee, but Bill Wiles at Trenton has a very impressive 25 year (or so) resume. Tough call...

    • This will be an interesting story to follow.  Venice has no proven RB headed in to spring which will be a first for a long time.  They have produced several Dairy Farmers player of the years in that position.  They also will have a massive offensive line with 2 three year starters who return as well as some stud young kids.  They will probably average around 6'4 295 on the line which is huge for Venice standards.  I just wonder if this will change before the start of the season.  I still fell like someone will show up.
    • Are you still talking to me??  Thought I was pretty clear for you not to waste your breath on this subject matter, but somehow you are missing the point.  Teacher unions have limited power in FL because the candidates they overwhelming support keep losing.  If they had won, the teacher union vote had a lot to do with it and would be wielding that power.  Osceola county which isn't a GOP stronghold during the past two national elections had the journalism students for the OHS monthly newsletter (Kowboy Jake) interview the faculty as to their political leanings.  A sample of about 30 teachers that were interviewed were voting as follows:  25 D vs 5 R.  Enough said.
    • You missed the point of my union post. Teacher unions in strong union states have power. Florida unions have zero. They cant strike and the school board can implement a contract without the unions approval. Florida unions are not preventing any raise in Florida. The state has attacked a straw man here.
    • As a general rule, I am not a big supporter of unions in the public sector in particular.  They certainly had a place in the private sector during the industrialization of our nation, but today not so much.  I have no first-hand experience with unions representing our local law enforcement or firefighters but my interaction with the teachers union over several years in that profession is the basis of my opinion.
