Read somewhere 4 of the 5 suspended are now able to return for the Semi Final game this Friday.

DWYER PUNISHMENTS 

• No Spring Game 
• 5 players given one game suspensions -- 3 are seniors; 2 graduating in December the other only plays football
• Players to complete sportsmanship course
• Team placed on probation
• $700 Fine

AQUINAS PUNISHMENTS

• No Spring Game
• Team on probation
• $700 fine
• Players to complete sportsmanship course
• 5 Players suspended -- 4 will return for the Venice game after serving their one game game suspension

So it almost seems STA is hit harder since they advanced.  The Dwyer Seniors basically have 0 consequences.  The STA Seniors are actually being affected more so since they are currently serving suspensions and still in season.  Am I missing something?

 

Only the schools and underclassman were ultimately affected from this unfortunate event.

It sends the message to the underclassmen that it will be here when you get back to deal with.

 

On the other hand its more of a slap on the wrist considering the nature of the video I saw. Fight between Braden River and North Port last year resulted in 4 game suspension for the players involved. It was nothing like the scene portrayed on video.

 

In any case is a shame to see these types of things put a bad light on those seniors last memory of playing football. Unless you win them all your final year there will be heartbreak but to end this way has the wrong feeling altogether.

Another thing..... Regarding the "No Spring Game" laid down by the FHSAA  - Does STA even play a spring game against another team?  I thought they just do a inter-squad game?  Perhaps they are not going to be allowed to go against themselves....

Also I read that last player suspened for STA has been reinstated and can play tomorrow night.

It's a slap on the wrist. The players will be playing tonight and not having a spring game doesn't impact anything if you still can have the spring practices.
