Updated Districts and Regions for football

The FHSAA announced yesterday evening that the updated districts and regions for football will be released sometime this morning. I am on standby now waiting for the release to come down. Will share thoughts and opinions on all of this as the day rolls on.

Fort White, Newberry, and Pierson Taylor are currently in 3A (I assume they will attempt to lose some students and get back down to 1A

 

Matanzas, Bishop Moore and Mainland are in Region 3 which geographically doesn't make sense.

Note that Pierson Taylor is also out of 1A and is now in 3A.

I think Region 3 and 2 in 3A need to be swapped for Geographical playoff matchups with Region 1.

Very interesting note of my own: Oxbridge, King's Academy and Cardinal Newman will all play in Region 2 while American Heritage and St. John Paul II (Boca Raton) will play in Region 4.

How does Tate, Navarre, Crestview, and Niceville stay in 6A?  I'm pretty sure there populations are way above 1938.  For example, Navarre is around 2100 or 2200.

Travel

 

Otherwise they would be forcing Lincoln and Leon and chiles to travel to panhandle when they could instead put all the big panhandle teams in 1 class so them and other teams don't have as much travel

Folks...no major changes will take place in 5A-8A since we are still in the middle of a 4 year cycle. Only after the next two season pass will we see major changes in those classes.

Those 4 would be a great district of their own in 7A.  Just a thought.

Its mainly so 3 of the 4 districts in 6a region 1 would be panhandle to keep them from having to travel until 4th round

So taking 1A schools and putting them in 3A with those privates cause it makes 28 teams is great? This is by far stupidest thing I ever seen not one of these 1a schools will be able to compete with tca jax or Oxbridge? We might as well move up to 5A so we can least have chance to win.

A lot of teams will move up to 5A. 3A will still end up being around 30 teams when it's all said and done. The problems is exactly as you mentioned- nobody wants to have to go through JaxTCA and Oxbridge/Chaminade except for teams that can pull 10 D-1 kids themselves.

I really won't be surprised if Wakulla moves up to 6A in two years.  I've heard their population is over 1,500 right now and their enrollment is increasing quite a bit each year.  I think they've gained over 250 students over the past two years....the limit for 5A is 1592.  I'm curious to see what district they will be put in....there are no 6A teams in the Tallahassee area.

Well the morons who made these changes are stupid this did not increase competiton at all specially in 3a with the teams you added all you did was give the privates somone to beat up on.

I was just told we have 1200 students and half of them are from middle school that gets counted cause we have 1 principle instead of 2 WTF i cant belive grades 6-8 get counted when they cant even play High school sports at our school anyways I know other high schools use there 8 graders to play like Hamilton does.
