Flanagan is obviously the team that was the biggest loser of the transfer season

They likely going from 8a contenders to 8a bottom feeders in the matter of a season, gotta feel bad for them

I think once they have a normal schedule again, catch their breath, they will be a 6-4 type team again in a decent district.  Too much talent in that area not to once in a while have a decent year when you get a good group of kids/ coaches....

But for now they will be lucky to win 3 games this year.

Think they ever get back to 2015 level?

Doubt it in our lifetime. The only Broward public school defenses I can remember on their 2015 level was a few Miramar teams and a  late 80s/ early 90s Dillard team.  I expect them to possibly have a few playoff teams in the future but nothing on that 2015 level.

I do think a hypothetical 2017 Flanagan overall would have been better than 2016 Flanagan though.  Probably on par with 2014 Flanagan.  Got to remember 2014 Flanagan was a very late bootleg that got called back against Columbus ( on a holding call) from going to Orlando.  Had now Michigan LB Devin Bush JR not got knocked out for the season in the first round in 2014 with a broken wrist, they probably get by Columbus and may have made things a little more interesting versus a potent Apopka offense.

Oh when i said 2015 level i meant more along lines of winning state but that 2015 Flanagan was a once in a lifetime team

Does the Cocoa team still have any players that live in Cocoa? I presume their parents will be sitting in the visitor's stands?

Some of those transfers were originally at Cocoa then transferred out and now they transferred back. Plus a lot of the players went to space coast actually live in the cocoa area and just was part of space coast zoning. Port St John was actually a township of Cocoa

Quick question after finding out Bruce Judson live in Orlando in the Jones district, did he move to cocoa or did that commute from Orlando to brevard everyday?

He moved to Cocoa. Unless you live on the extreme East side of Orlando (UCF area or east of there), it would be too much commute to go to Cocoa daily.

@BrowardHandicapper what do you think would be 10 teams who won the most from transfer season?

Broward schools that have had a boost with incoming transfers this off-season:

Deerfield Beach - May not have received the best talent pound for pound but when you already have a strong core of athletes like DFB always has you can patch up and add a lot of depth to your team.  Coral Springs had a exodus that sent about 15+ players to DFB including what may be starting QB Kyle Kaplan who has a FCS offer or two right now. DFB also received D1 type talent from Boyd Anderson (DE), Piper (DL), Coconut Creek S/DB), Ely (DL) and others.

Dillard - The Panthers have supposedly picked up about 15 incoming transfers this off-season but I believe the number is probably closer to 10.  Either way, a 4* 2 way player at WR/DB and another D1 WR from Coconut Creek along with a FBS caliber RB from Chaminade has convinced me that Dillard will be a improved team.

Blanche Ely - Like DFB, Ely already also has athletes and they received talent from generally the same neighboring schools as DFB.  Ely did very well in the off-season , lost a couple over the summer but overall expect a very improved team.

Chaminade-Madonna - picked up a few players from several neighboring schools, primarily Flanagan and Archbishop McCarthy.  Several of those players hold D1 offers and will add lots depth to this 3A power.

Miramar -  Many do not realize that the Patriots lost 41 Seniors to graduation this spring. Many of them being starters amd 12 now playing in college.  The patchwork began with bringing back DC AJ Scott (formerly with Mirmar) over from McArthur,  bringing in a few players from local schools and the hiring of a couple NW Dade assistants and next thing you know you have a 8A contender.  Although Miramar lost recent McArthur QB transfer Deon Jones to Norland and projected starting RB Quino Mauricette to North Miami, the Patriots have improved overall from transfers this year.

South Broward - SB has quietly picked up 5+ talented players from as far away as Coconut Creek and Taravella.  They did lose several D1 caliber players from last year along with some talented players but they appear to have patched up well and should have a potent offense particularly.

AHP - Pulled in a few players and coaches from the Flanagan exodus, a OL from Douglas and a few players from as far away as Monsignor Pace to bolster their already stacked roster.

Western - Lost a bit particularly defensively but Western landed a few players from surrounding schools, particularly a couple of WRs that should do well in the Wildcats offense.  Should be much improved offensively.

STA - With already the deepest roster in the state heading into 2017, STA added a few names that will give their program a boost.  Very few 3*+  recruits transferred  in to STA in 2017 compared to usual but they have added depth.

Teams that may have benefited from transfers but I have little details: Everglades, West Broward, Cardinal Gibbons, Pine Crest

If you guys don't see how messed up this is, I can't help you. If a coach is struggling to build a program and is about to turn the corner then gets picked clean by the powers that be, how can there ever be a change in the competitive balance?

This will be the ruin of a once fun amateur sport. Enjoy your harp and wine while Rome burns...

Same way a coache sees a better opportunity and bounces first chance he gets, nobody don't criticize him for it.. I'm glad kids have the opportunity to do what they feel is a better opportunity for them...  In the end of the day they trying to better themselves.....  Guess what tho it still is and will always be amateur sports..

But a coach is an adult who has a job. I'm of the opinion that for most kids this will not be beneficial. A lot of these transfer kids will have put a lot of time and work to help build a program into a winner. Many will bail based on some bogus promise of a championshp run or some better offer (or an offer period). At the end of the day, there will only be a few championship teams crowned and only a few college scholarships handed out. Odds are that Johnny Transfer isn't going to be on one of those few championship teams and won't get a scholly. However, had he stuck around, he may have had the pride to watch a program turn into a winner with his teammates and coaches, instead of just being a likely irrelevant part of a team that was going to be a winner anyway.

There are faults to the system but how was the old system better

You had private schools with open enrollment but publics were limited to school zones

Only thing this does is give publics the same rules as privates
