Venice at STA- Game of the Week

I knew STA would have to play a bad game and Venice would have to play their best game in order to get the nod in this one being that they lost in 3OT to #1 team in the nation Bishop Gorman. I thought it would be a lot closer. I was totally wrong. It was a great season for both teams. STA will steamroll the winner of the other semifinal game being that Venice beat Plant earlier this year.

Good game Venice.  You won all of the games you were supposed to this year and you won most of them very soundly.  My thoughts....

Try to schedule a decent SFL team ( or 2)  next year with a fast defense ( there are a lot )  Does not have to be an STA.  Even a 5-5 type Norland type team could be beneficial.  Just find fast Defenses....You may find some plays work better than others versus what was successful in your region.   The Venice RB was good but most of the plays run were getting eaten up quickly.  I don't know the Venice playbook but I would have liked to have seen a little more 5-Wide type stuff in the 2nd half.   It just looked like Venice was trying to go deep in their playbook and nothing was working for the most part.

Venice needs: Size on the OL.  More Speed - overall.  RB and a couple WRs were fast but by the time they got open the pocket collapsed and the QB was smothered.

Impressed me. Venice QB did through a few nice balls when he could breath, and his arm looked very strong.  RB was very good but STA sees comparable speed on almost a weekly basis plus they practice against it...Venice had a few good plays in the game but overall I think the difference in the game was the STA size and speed.  Especially Defensively.  Hard to prepare for that stuff....

Keep grinding!  Best of luck in 2017!

Venice Fan ---- WARNING BAD LANGUAGE

Nutjob!  How the he11 did she get on the field in the fist place?  There were a few cops walking around the track the whole game.

She sounds foolish.  "Exploit black men"  I would like to ask her what Venice will do for their players when this "s#1^" is over...LOL.  Listen, lady if you're reading this the only thing STA does is set these kids up with a great High School educational opportunity and an opportunity for a future as a potential student athlete at an accredited University - Shame on STA, right?

I think she is just a jealous hater.  She makes 0 sense.

In other news.. the fan there along with many other parents were upset. I heard a few things from the stands that was to be expected when you see your players season come to an end.

As far as scheduling teams from the south, that is a 3 plus hour drive I cant see us making for a regualr season game. Try to get the better teams from our area but they do not play the same style.

We just did not look like the same team we did at any part of the year. Mostly because of STA but in general we didnt do some of the things well. A prduct of not being this deep has to account for it as well.

If you are not familar w Venice it does not have the younger popluation that the south has. We are primarily a retirement community that has become younger as of late. We don't get the athletes you are used to seeing.

I am very happy to have been able to watch my son play against STA. I said it before it is what it is and in a few short hours the sun will come up for another day.

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
