Lakeland @ Miami Central - granted Lakeland does have a extremely Good roster this year, but so does central and I can remember the last time Lakeland traveled down 95 south for a game vs elite south Florida opponent.

the naughts may keep it close for a quarter but if they get down 14 early in the 1st Qt They’re gonna get “BLLRDDDDD” out of the stadium by mid third Qt.

I got the rockets 49-21

Miami Northwestern Vs Coconut creek - Cougars shocked the state last year when they took chaminade to the brink in the regular last season , and made it all the way to the regional finals for the first time in school history. This off season they got some more transfers in , beefed up the schedule & ready to get even further this year. But I say they fall to the bulls here in the season opener 35-14.

Miami Norland Vs Miramar - The patriots came back from being down 20-6 vs edision to win in overtime 34-28 , while the Vikings was ran out of traz power by 31 by armwood.

im going to be keeping a close eye on this game being that we(Dillard) play Miramar for the 6th straight year in week 5 & we can possibly face norland in the playoffs.

but in this game I can’t see norland dropping another game 1 week after that massacre. I got The Vikings.

MIAMI NORLAND 35 MIRAMAR 14

MILTON VS AMERICAN HERITAGE - I was surprised the patriots gave up 26 points to a ely team I hear is down this year. Either ely is gonna b better then expected(throws up) or American heritage is not as good as their 20th nationally ranking.

either way Milton is stout all cross the board. Especially on defense , they beat a very very very good Baylor team in week 1 & if heritage don’t come up with something this week I see them dropping this game to Milton 28-14.

& with games @chaminade @naples @miami central @ Miami norland @STA & home vs western , this season can either go very magical or turn into a TOTAL disaster.

MONARCH VS PEACHTREE RIDGE - this is gonna be a monster game. Both teams are loaded cross the board. After seeing monarch up close in our scrimmage Vs them they are loaded & very good. This game can go either way, so I’m gonna say

MONARCH 28 PEACHTREE RIDGE 21

BISHOP GORMAN VS ST THOMAS - A True Battle of heavy weights in this 1 , as much as I root for home team, I hope the gales tare STA A NEW 1 LMFAO LOL

BISHOP GORMAN 31 ST THOMAS 24

ST JOHN BOSCO VS CHAMINADE - Another Ali Vs Thomas the hit man hearns type matchup this one is a must see , if Dillard didn’t have a game that day I would’ve most definitely been to this 1. This is another 1 that can go either way. But until proven other wise I go to roll with

CHAMINADE 42 ST JOHN BOSCO 35

CARDINAL GIBBONS VS LAKE MARY -

As far as I know lake Mary has never been known as a football power. Girls basketball power back in the day ? Yea , but in football? I know they win a few games here & there but I haven’t seen them come down south and beat a south Florida power or heard of them doing it, so until then I have to roll with gibbons at home.

GIBBONS 21 LAKE MARY 14

Columbus v Southridge

Thursday night game down in Southridge to kick off the season for the Explorers. This is going to be a tough one. First, we will likely be running two QBs to see who gets the edge for the rest of the season. And while our line is pretty big and fairly experienced, we lack proven confidence at the signal caller position. If we can settle early there, we have a good shot. Defensively we lost a lot and may struggle with our front 4.

Otherwise, I know the Spartans are fielding a stronger team this year and hungry at home. My real concern is that if we don't get a good game here, it will be a long month ahead: with powerhouse Good Counsel next week and STA the week following, we could easily go 0-3 to start the year. MNW the week after and an always talented Palmetto after that scares the crap out of me. Not a schedule to build rookie QB confidence. But let's have faith.

Southridge hung 35 points on a weak Killian team in their opener, and didn't allow a score. Unless Cane commit Fitzgerald gets the ball in his hands as WR or in on some INTs, it could be a low scoring effort by Columbus. We need special team to get us some points...

I'm thinking 17-10 Southridge.

Prove me wrong boys!! Let's go!!!

Nobody knows the explorers on this board better then you, I agree with you tough schedule. But one thing about your coaching staff, they’re one of the best & always have Columbus prepared.

I see you guys winning this friday 28-20

True - they will be coached up and as disciplined as any week 1 team can be. Just a tough year to have this schedule. Love your optimism tho!

If Gibbons is lock down on the defensive backend then they should be able to slow Lake Mary, if not then Lake Mary may throw all over them being led by one of the best QBs in the nation for 2026 class

Interesting. I can't see into the future, so I can't say you're wrong! I'm wondering which areas of Lakeland's team do you think Central can take advantage of to produce that result?

I would say on the defensive end , especially maybe the corner back end. Haven’t seen Lakeland play lately. But I do knew a few years back when they were really really good they hosted Carol City in back to back years I believe and both years they couldn’t contain the speed of carol city and they were getting bombed all over the field. And if I’m not mistake. Carol city put over 40 both times.

I have nothing against Lakeland so I actually hope it’s a good game & if Lakeland was to win it would most def shock the nation.

you know your naughts so maybe you can educate me what do you guys bring in this year and if you guys were to win this weekend what area of your team do you believe would be the reason why.

If there are any Rams fans that’s on here that could educate me a bit on the rams im always down to increase knowledge.

So, I'll give you a few comments about Lake Mary. You are right, they have not been a football power. They showed signs last year beating both Mainland (badly) and Mandarin in the regular season; and Seminole had to rally from a 14 point deficit midway through the 4th quarter to come back and win by a point. They then lost their starting running back in the first quarter of their playoff game against Boone and though the won the game they struggled. In the second round, Mandarin got its revenge.

I don't know what their supporting cast is, but they have a kid that I regard as the best junior quarterback in the state. He's been starting since the third game of his freshman season, and has put up monster passing yardage. He had around 25 offers coming into the summer when he committed to Notre Dame.

I know the running back they lost is back and healthy. I know Noah Grubbs (QB) will put up numbers against anyone. I don't know what the rest of their supporting cast looks like. In the KOC they gave up 20 against Oviedo though they won comfortably. That leads me to think they have some defensive issues. But you never know with KOCs some tell you a lot and some don't.

Gibbons will be the favorite. Rightly so. They have more of a pedigree. However, I would not at all be surprised if Lake Mary's maiden trip to south Florida ends with a high scoring victory. If they win it will be basketball type numbers by both teams, say like the Edgewater game in England.

I don't think you're giving that line enough credit. I like Columbus 24-17.

They did. But the last two years they also didn’t have to face anyone down south because of the whole metro suburban split.

if it was regular like it is this year I don’t think they repeat or even when that 1st one.

You know something lol. As soon as the pocket break down he gonna throw that ball away lol. Cent got to keep a very clean pocket for him to be successful. He can't run and don't want to run.

They top db was their safety that's committed to UM Amari Wallace . He broke his leg and out for the year. They top db came from the west but he can't play no more do to his age.

Well I'll say this and leave it alone. Cent definitely not what the masses think they are. Yes they have talent and have a good team but don't be shocked they go into playoffs with 3 losses.

I said the same thing about qb that came from btw... I believe by time they play the west they gonna either go with him outright or split time with current starter.

3 losses so I'm to assume you have

Lakeland and Northwestern but who's the 3rd lost.

you know your naughts so maybe you can educate me what do you guys bring in this year and if you guys were to win this weekend what area of your team do you believe would be the reason why.

Carol City beat Lakeland 44-34 in 2015, and 38-7 in 2016. Bad nights in Bryant Stadium to be sure, and hats off to the Chiefs. Back in those seasons, Lakeland also suffered losses to Bartow, Kathleen and Viera. The 'Naughts weren't super powerful in those seasons. But, those games were played *before* school choice dramatically altered rosters starting with the 2017 season. Things haven't been the same since as Lakeland has raided other rosters every year other than the plague year.

IF Lakeland's 2024 team is basically the same type of team as the 2015/16 teams, your pick would be reasonable. Like I said earlier, I can't see into the future. Maybe you're right and this Lakeland team will prove to be about the same as the 2015/16 teams, and thus vastly inferior to every non-2020 Lakeland team since.

As for the backend of the defense, we shall see. That unit has 4* Ole Miss commit Keon Young, who plays 7-on-7 with several Central players/coaches; 3* West Virginia commit Sammy Etienne; 3* USF commit Gillis and a player (Kayvon McKinney) who has eight (8) interceptions in his last 28 quarters of football. Maybe they get torched Friday!

The strength of the defense is speed and quickness. How good is the defense? I have a pretty strong hunch, but will wait to disclose this until Friday ;)
