Man oh Man what a crazy CRAZY week 1 this was. & Again this was ONLY WEEK 1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a week 1 where so many nationally ranked south Florida schools all dropped their week 1 game.

Now granted all is not lost it’s still a long season to go so it’s still HEAVILY likely chaminade is gonna repeat in 1A.

Miami central only have 1 huge obstacle in their way of getting back & that’s MNW.

STA is gonna very well steam roll into the playoffs until they have to face Lakeland which will be WORTH the price of admission.

but if we don’t look ahead & just focus on what transpired this weekend , it’s actually quite crazy to say the least.

CHAMINADE- LOSS

AMERICAN HERITAGE - LOSS

MIAMI CENTRAL - LOSS

WESTERN- whose suppose to b fielding their best team ever this year LOST to Hoover whose been a complete shell of them former selves for a While now

GIBBONS - ANNIHILATED by Lake Mary.

HOMESTEAD- As star studded as they are LOST to palmetto who was DOUBLE DIGIT underdogs.

But in regards to the broward showcase , I know they all were good games (THE NATIONAL ONES) & south Florida put on a good showing but for the AMOUNT of transfers & recruiting CHAMINADE, STA,AHP & WESTERN Did COMBINED & yet THEY ALL LOST!

I hate to say this the rest of the nation has caught up to south Florida SPEED & ATHLETIC wise. Add that with their (IMO) superior coaching, it’s looking a little scary for the future.

S/N As much as it sucks seeing broward lose all their national games this weekend (except for monarch) I can’t lie internally it lowkey get kind of good seeing the likes of STA & CHAMINADE get a taste of their own medicine for a change.

To all the teams that started (0-1) This weekend , let’s get back in that lab, work & study harder & be better next week.

To a certain extent, you saw the same thing happen on the collegiate level.

From what I have read, there is a general consensus that FSU has done an average job at recruiting high school players, but has done an exceptional job at getting kids from the transfer portal.  I'm not sure if that's true or not, but I've seen/heard it in a couple of places and it tends to support my hypothesis, so I'm going to accept it as true.  ;)

Here's my point:  teams that build through the transfer/portal/free agency process, be they high school, college or pro, take a little longer to gel.  Georgia Tech returned 4 of 5 OL and their QB.  That made a difference.

On a high school level, you have a limited amount of time to practice before the first game (that's why, in my opinion, the pre-season/kickoff classic game that "doesn't count" is so important for assessing your team's strengths and weaknesses and for developing team chemistry).  Playing top-tier national teams --  that may or may not have the same restrictions as Florida teams have -- is an uphill challenge for Florida teams.  At the end of the season, however, it won't surprise me if all of the teams that lost to national powerhouse teams this past weekend end up holding high a state championship trophy . . . they just won't end up holding a national championship trophy because one or two of those national teams will end their season undefeated.

If fans were surprised of Broward’s results this weekend, you might wanna plead ignorance! Who in the state of Florida would be favored to beat Milton, St John Bosco, or Bishop Gorman? Or could your team beat Peachtree, NW, or Hoover? Florida has had its teams at different times in the past , that have beaten those teams & other powers. Nothing stays the same, ever!  Other States & teams “pull in” great talent to reign at the top.

personally I was satisfied with the performances of AHP, Aquinas, Chaminade, Western, & Monarch who all have the potential for deep runs in the Florida State Championships. I’m STOKED Y’all!!! lol

Palmetto has talent and will be a playoff team. Homestead did play without Cortez mills though.

I'm glad FSU lost lol

Well said.  Only thing for certain is the mythical national champion will not come from Florida this year.

If these were REGULAR high schools we are talking about I AGREE. But this is freaking STA & CHAMINADE we are talking about they do the same thing as a Gorman or a bosco so NO EXCUSES!

in regards to @Perspective of course most likely a few those teams up top that lost will hoist the trophy they’ve pinched & poached from all the inner city schools & from out of state to have the super teams they have today so it’s very little to no teams who would be to step in their way.

in regards to western @Jullian me & you just talked about this the other day this year suppose to be western “BEST TEAM EVER” & this is not even the national powerhouses that’s on their schedule.

HOOVER was 4-5 last year and not even ranked in Alabama let alone nationally. Western was at home with over 20+ transfers over the last 2 years with a few from out of state NO EXCSUSES.

sure south Florida played tough in the loses im proud of that but I ALSO don’t feel they should be held to the same standard as if it was a regular high school playing these national teams and played tough.

STA . AHP & CHAMINADE are national powerhouses who poach, grab & raid all the inner city black schools they can get they hand on, they dominate south Florida year in & year out (CHAMINADE & STA) so aye it’s no sympathy like I said I was happy to see them get a dose of their own medicine this weekend.
