Astronaut is looking to get back on the map and back on the road to its former glory days! Great story by Will Turner who just recently joined the site.

 Is Cris Collinsworth making a come back ? Rockledge, Merritt Island, Palm Bay, and Cocoa at one time or another have had championship football teams in the last 20yrs. Not bad for an area known for being one of the eastcoast best surfing venues...for damn near ever.

For the young ones out there, Cris Collinsworth (Titusville Astronaut, U.of Florida, Cincinnati Bengals, and current NFL Sports Commentator) was a burner on the Florida high school track circuit. In 1976 he was a state champion in the 100yd dash(10.0). If memory serves me right, he played QB at Astronaut and was a WR at Florida and Cincinnati....good hands, good speed, and a good talking game....

He scored a touchdown in the first American Football game I ever watched shortly after I got off the boat! It went for over 60 yards if I remember correctly.

Darter serving ? Maybe beers Josh. He wasn't in the  Navy. I think he is speaking of the boat from Jamaica when he came to the states many a moon ago

Now why did you have to give away my secret, Dan? Here I was getting credit and you give it away. Seriously, though, Collinsworth was a baller. Sorry I was not here for his high school career. I am guessing I am a year or three older than him, so when he played, I was probably in high school back in JA or was a recent grad in his first job.

They should about the level they were at last season. Returning QB and receivers. Defense should be solid as well. MCC should be solid again.  Of course Cocoa. Rockledge should be step up as well.  Holy Trinity will be athletic. Palm Bay and Merritt Island should be good as well

I got complete history for Pensacola, Leon,Lincoln, Gainesville, Apopka, Manatee,Ft Myers, Naples, Immokalee, and Choctaw. Plus countless of multiple seasons for every other team in the state 

Plus every team who started playing football since 2002.

Do you have the year by year game results? I will look later about Gainseville and let you know

Another reason why it will be hard for astronaut to be a power in Brevard again is mainly because more people are moving away from the north Brevard to south Brevard and even central Brevard for better job opportunities. Yea the new transfer rule will help but I don't see kids trying to transfer to astronaut.  They would rather go to Titusville instead

The main schools kids are transferring to are cocoa, viera, Rockledge, MCC, Holy Trinity, Palm Bay and Merritt Island. Palm Bay and Merritt Island are retaining slot of their athletes. But Titusville has gotten some players from astronaut too but I want to say it's mainly because of the proximity and the culture at titusville
