I'll make my official predictions later in the week. But Cocoa vs IMG will have my full attention. Cocoa has averaged 46.5 PPG in their two wins vs Titusville and Mainland, (47 if you round up.) Meanwhile, IMG has averaged 31.5 PPG between their loss to Corner Canyon and win over Bergen Catholic. It suggests that Cocoa should defeat IMG by a final score of 47-32. But the silver lining that could prevent a shootout is the simple fact that IMG doesn't pass very much. As usual, the issue with preparing for IMG isn't that their offense is so complex that you can't prepare for all possibilities. It's that they are so physically overwhelming that unless you have athletes of similar caliber, you cannot compete regardless of how meticulous and well-constructed your gameplan is.

Cocoa will have to score about 35 points to win this game. IMG will plan to slow the game down and limit possessions to keep Cocoa's high-octane offense off the field. Cocoa probably wants to stop the run first and make IMG beat them by passing. That sounds like a winning formula. Offensively, take what the defense gives you on every play and move at your own pace. No penalties or silly mistakes; those will kill you against a team like IMG. Cocoa is in a great position to win and potentially have a chance at the national championship if they win out; they need to pounce on it, and I think they get it done. Cocoa 35, IMG 24. How do you Cocoa guys feel? @Cat_Scratch2 @KeemD321 @Cocoafanone @Cat_Scratch @imjustafan2 @LetsGo

If Cocoa can start out fast offensively then they can definitely put up the points to force IMG to battle from behind. The defense will have to come up with some key stops and make adjustments at the half. It'll come down to the line play

I think the key will be Cocoa making sure that IMG doesn't get the names of the officials who called the Cocoa/STA game last year.   B)

Either way, you take an L.

After watching the Lakeland vs Central game, if LM wants to win, it will have to: 1. Improve on its passing game (it needs to be where it was mid-season last year in terms accuracy). 2. Either get to the Lakeland QB early and often, or find a way to strengthen its secondary (Lakeland is not a passing juggernaut, but this team can move the ball through the air effectively and LM has given up points mostly due to its secondary in all of its three games).

@nolebull813Tell Columbia Fan that Nulii said "absentee ballots don't count here" and he needs to come back and post his own picks.  He's missed.   :P

IMG is as good as they come. Cocoa has fast team. Not so sure of Cocoa's size compared to the Ascenders, IMG will be super tough. Cocoa can win if they can play 4 strong quarters and not be bullied on either side af the line.

Thanks for the feedback. Hope you guys kick their asses. Jump on them early, get up 14-0... and never look back! I don't think they have the offensive firepower to keep up with Cocoa in a shootout.

Cocoa absolutely must stop the run first. For maybe the first time ever, IMG actually looks like a somewhat normal high school team. (Obviously using the word, "normal," very loosely.) Their offensive line isn't as overwhelming as it has been in past seasons. If you can make them pass, you'll throw them out of their gameplan immediately.

    • Atlantic  represented palm beach county well. I may not like them but I do respect them. Good  job Atlantic
    • That argument could be made for other counties our size and smaller, especially with a RB like Taevion Swint.   When healthy, I haven't seen too many teams that can slow him down.  In the spring game he tore a new one to both Edgewater and Deland.  As a freshman, he racked up a total of about 2000 all purpose yards.  As a sophomore around 1700 from scrimmage against top flight competition as our primary RB.  Last year he missed about half the season and when he returned he wasn't truly back.  Watch what he does from here.
    • Orlando Sentinel just posted some stats from our game and they confirmed that Taevion had 2 Carries for the evening totaling 134 yards and 2 TD's.   Great allowing some of the other kids to have some fun.
    • But if you consider where the population is centered, Jax is not central at all. And, Orlando has so many more family-oriented attractions, hotels etc.
    • Lots of unexpected results and you are right in saying that is the beauty of high school football.  Week in and week out you are depending on 15, 16, 17, 18 year old kids to perform; what you saw last week maybe 180 degrees from this week.  Teams that display the consistency over several weeks usually come out on top.   So humorous to me when someone claims they have a bunch of DOGS and forget that simple fact.  Unless you have spent years coaching at this level, that sometimes gets lost in the equation, they are still kids.  Really liked that Poinciana didn't embarrass itself against a solid Evans team tonight despite taking their first loss.  Evans hung tough with both Apopka and Jones for the two losses on their resume.  After tonight, I am pretty convinced Poinciana can get to an 8-win season.  It would be huge for their staff so certainly pulling for them.   We have a short week before facing off with Jones next Thursday night and I certainly feel good about our chances with Taevion healthy.
