Soon as I saw the topic I already knew the #1 was Atlantic , in regards to Garcia , what’s your take on them ?? With you being from that area ? They travel to Dillard in 3 weeks.

Dr. Garcia has been doing well. They beaten teams that they were suppose to in decent fashion. Their QB is the transferred from Palm Beach Central so that explains a lot. Don't think they played tough competition yet, but beat the with ease.  How their schedule look they may be Undefeated when they play you'll  so be ready.

Type shii. When I looked at their schedule I was like wtf it’s not 1 even half decent team they play. Dillard is gonna be by FAR their toughest game.

I get it tho it’s their 2nd year but every last 1 of their opponents outside of Dillard is terrible. But we will b ready, atp that game will be for the district championship.

Dillard will win by 40

How does the playoffs work? Do runner ups get in? Garcia has the worst schedule in memory and will most likely be 9-1 or 8-2 with a blowout loss to district winner Dillard.

Do runner ups go? There is no way they can get an at large bid with that schedule

Mostly, yes they will be a runner up if they finish that way, but if they have a team that played stronger teams with a 6-4 record  that could jump Garcia in the Runner up race.  Its not just about records you have to play strong competition too.

The playoffs will work just like they did last year, except for substituting the MaxPreps rankings for the FHSAA Power Rankings.  So the 4 District champions in each Region automatically qualify.  Then the next 4 highest ranked teams according to MaxPreps are awarded the 4 at-large spots for the Region.  These 8 teams are then seeded #1 through #8 based on MaxPreps rankings, with 1 vs. 8, 2 vs 7, etc.  The higher seed will always host in the Regional tournament, except in the first round when a District champion is facing an at-large team, the District champion will host regardless of seeding.  The four State semifinalists are reseeded based on the end-of-season MaxPreps rankings, with #1 playing #4 and #2 playing #3.

So district runners-up are not automatically qualified.  One District could conceivably have 4 teams in the Region playoffs (District champ + 3 at-large)

I would like to tell you how the MaxPreps rankings are calculated, but the algorithms are stored in a vault at Fort Knox, and thus not accessible to those who should actually have a clue as to how MaxPreps affects their fortunes.

Maxpreps is garbage. They rank teams that don’t even have a football team. No joke. There are countless of schools who aren’t even fielding football teams who ranked by maxpreps. Imagine being ranked behind a team who doesn’t have a football program. Lol.

Unbelievable and sad really.  Clearwater Academy is hanging in there at #44 in the current state rankings.  As you point out, a better option exists.

Also Bradenton Christian, Munroe Day, Akelynns Angels, American Collegiate, Sports Leadership and Management, Joshua Christian, Graceville, BridgePrep, Dade Christian, Roosevelt Academy, Pepin Academy, Gulf Coast Homeschool, Cornerstone Classical, St John Lutheran. St Johns Classical, Saints Academy and Warner Christian are all ranked despite not fielding a team, and in some cases NEVER fielding a team ever. SMDH

#44 is probably fair . . . they haven't lost a game yet this season.   B)

    • Ive already stated the out comes for the Vero and northwestern games went about like watching the NFL....(that not a good thing and for me alittle hard to believe the outcomes were organic) over all attendance was down from last year....for me its was just a Blah type finals.
    • Mark, I'd love to read what you posted, but over half of your post is covered with black squares and ads.   I know that's not your fault, and I understand the business model behind advertisements, but I hate that they appear in the middle of someone's post such that you can't even read the post.   Is it just me or does everyone see the same thing?
    • I’ve been to 15 Finals.  This year’s games were the best I’ve ever attended.  For what it’s worth, here are my thoughts.  I sat on the the Press Box/Suites side for every game.   Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   > 1A - The Chaminade fans I interacted with were very overconfident.  I sat near one whose stepson was the starting center.  I told him I thought Cardinal Newman would keep the game close until halftime and then Chaminade would run away with it.    He looked at me like I was crazy then proceeded telling me how superior Chaminade was.  After Cardinal Newman scored the first touchdown I didn’t even look at him.  He then proceeded to get up and found a cluster of Chaminade fans to sit with.     Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   >   Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   > When the game ended many of the Chaminade fans just sat and stared into space.  Not looking at each other.  Not saying anything. 2A - I took enjoyment watching a team from the city of Sarasota where I grew up from the age of 10.  Had seen both teams play this year so I thought I had a good gauge on this game.  I mistakenly thought this would be a closer game.  I was amazed how much Mooney dominated the lines of scrimmage. 3A - The big story this season for Northwestern was the replacement at QB of last year’s starter, Leon Strawder, with a sophomore transfer from Ransom Everglades. The Bulls new QB, Neumann Lawrence, was brought over to Northwestern by Teddy Bridgewater himself (at least that was what I was told).  I saw this new QB play twice for the Bulls and he was phenomenal.  Friday night Raines put a lot of pressure on him so he struggled most of the game. I began keeping my eye on Raines especially during the playoffs. I told some that Raines would not beat Northwestern but you would be surprised how close Raines’ talent level was to the Bulls.  The responses were not positive.  I stayed to watch the Vikings celebration.  I’m really happy for them. 4A - This game did go as I thought.  I did not see Jones play this year but I’m very familiar with the program.  I saw AHP play Archbishop McCarthy in the Regional Final.  Despite making early mistakes and taking McCarthy’s best shot the Patriots prevailed.  That night I saw an AHP that was patient, confident and did not get rattled.   5A - Nothing to say except boring. 6A - The clock struck midnight for a young and dangerous West Broward team.  West Boca Raton was dominant and West Broward looked like they had completely run out of that mojo that got them to the finals. 7A - Vero Beach fans must have outnumbered Lake Mary fans 4 to 1.  Many times during the game I heard different people say it’s going to be a long ride home if we don’t win. During the game I was in a group text that Laz was in.  If you don’t know already Laz is a big Lake Mary fan.  During the game we had to talk him off the ledge when Vero was scoring at will.  A few times Laz texted that the game was over and he was going to turn it off.  He hung in there long enough to see his beloved Rams pull off the play of the year and win their first state title.  Congratulations Laz! More random thoughts: * It was obvious Chaminade and Northwestern came into their games emotionally not ready.  Pretty sure they did not fully respect their opponents. * Would the Bulls have won with Strawder at QB?  IMO, probably.   * At the beginning of the season QB Darryon Jones was on Chaminade’s roster.  Not sure why Darryon transferred out to Venice.  He played very well for Venice.  Would the Lions have beat Cardinal Newman with him at the helm?  IMO, probably. * Please give Aquinas a quality opponent next year. * I see that Mike E left the 7A game early because of a little rain.  Just kidding, I stayed but I was soaked.  Truth be told I briefly considered leaving at about the same time Mike left in the 4th quarter.
    • Is there any possibility that you would be willing to be more specific?
