If you ask me , the first 5 weeks of this season has been one of the most unpredictable 5 weeks in south Florida history. With that said, it’s been some movement in my top 15.

We had some departures & some new additions to the Top 15. So let’s get to it.

#1. CHAMINADE MADONNA (3-2)  - At this point can their offense be slowed down ? Let alone stopped. Cuz whewwww lol.

#2. ST THOMAS AQUINAS (4-1)  - the raiders won’t get their next test until they face Chaminade Madonna in a few weeks.

#3. MIAMI CENTRAL (4-1)  - the Rockets fell behind by double digits against heritage , but prevailed late to notch their first signature win of the season.

#4. AMERICAN HERITAGE (2-3).  The patriots couldn’t finish the deal against power house Miami central & fell to 2-3 because of it. The Patriots are still top 5 in south Florida in my opinion, but they will need to learn how to win the big games if they want to make it far in the playoffs.

with undefeated plantation coming up, Miami norland & st Thomas Aquinas coming up in the next few weeks, the patriots will have plenty of chances to take that step to the next level.

#5. MIAMI NORTHWESTERN (2-2) - the northwestern vs Columbus game was postponed Thursday. A new date had yet to be given.

#6. MIAMI NORLAND (3-1) the Miami norland was ran out of the stadium for the second time this year last Thursday night.

this was the second consecutive week the Vikings offense was held to just 6 points offensively. If norland wants to right the wrong of last years title game upset, they’re gonna have to make some serious adjustments, or it’s going to be another disappointing season.

#7. PLANTATION (5-0) - The Colonels continue to put a lot of people on notice. Their defense is big time & will keep them in every game this year.

#8. DILLARD (4-1) - Defensive Slugfest Against Miramar last week, the patriots were 60% to 40% favorites , but the panthers got it done for their 6th consecutive win over Miramar , breaking the Florida record. Dillard came in last Fridays contest tied with St Thomas Aquinas for the most consecutive wins against Miramar which was 5.

the panthers hit the road to west palm beach for their first Thursday game this year, & will look to make it 5 consecutive victories on this season.

#9. COLUMBUS (2-2) - the explorers had their game vs MNW postponed.

#10. WEST BROWARD (3-2) - the bobcats were idle this week.

#11. CARDINAL GIBBONS (3-2) , the chiefs gave the cougars of coconut creek another lost fresh of their bye week. The cougars received a lot of transfers during the off season, but their season so far has started in the worst possible way at (0-3). Still time to right the ship though.

#12. PIPER (5-0) Give it up for the piper bengals ladies & gentleman!! The piper bengals has made it to the top 15 for the first time this year. They gave the Blanche ely tigers their second consecutive loss, while they push their undefeated record to (5-0)

#13. HOMESTEAD (2-2) - iDLE

#14. MONARCH (3-2) - the knights got back on track against Fort Lauderdale last week to improve to (3-2).

#15.MIAMI SOUTHRIDGE (4-1) - give it up to the Miami southridge Spartans for making it to the TOP 15, outside of a 17-14 lost to Columbus to start the season, the Spartans have been handling business.

NEW ADDITIONS: Cardinal Gibbons, Piper , Miami southridge

DROPOUTS - Blanche ely, Miramar, Booker T Washington

Norland's record is 3-1. Loss to Armwood was KOC game. Doesn't count on their season record.

Other than that, what’s your thoughts on the 15, I think for the most part it’s pretty spot on.

Solid list. I know Chaminade is hot right now. Hard to see them at #1 with two losses. And with Ely now losing two straight, although to good teams it doesn't make the win against Nade look as good. Just my opinion.

Atlantic solid ? Yessir , piper ? , they came into that matchup ranked #456 in Florida. Ely was suppose to be by far their toughest matchup up until that point. Every other team b4 Ely was terrible.

honestly rivalry aside I think Ely was crowned & put in the stardom rankings way way to quick. Ignoring the facts that chaminade best player & most important player was knocked out of the game on their second possession. & a quarter back with no practice, no preparation was thrown into the fire, which altered chamiandes entire game plan that night.

with a week of preparation with that said qb we the see the difference & chaminade hasn’t lost since.

so honestly I think what we’ve seen from ely the last 2 weeks is a greater indication of who they really are, vs the anomaly vs chaminade.

    • You can make an argument that the Metro /Suburban years were very comparable.  I may be a prisoner of the moment by saying they were the best.  One of my favorite board names is @imjustafan2 because I get into the X’s and the O’s but really I enjoy the whole experience of a high school game.   I really enjoyed the Cardinal Mooney game for reasons I included in my post.  I anticipated Bolles would make a strong comeback but it never materialized. Cardinal Newman upsets Chaminade.  That game wasn’t decided until it ended.     STA took it easy on Lakeland.  Awful game.   West Boca Raton destroys West Broward.  Pretty highly anticipated but was a dud. Raines with the upset of the year.     AHP/Jones game was competitive until late.  Jones made an entertaining comeback only to be squelched in the 4th quarter. Lake Mary/Vero Beach.  Say no more. So from my perspective it was at least one of the best.  I remember many years where you had maybe one competitive game.  If you were lucky you had 2.     From my viewpoint there were 2 historic upsets, the final game ended in a viral play that’s been shared all over the world, a game that was competitive until the 4th quarter, Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota team) and 2 games that were no contests.  So for me but not for others it was a great finals.
    • Appreciate the breakdown by game, I would also like to read your thoughts on the venue. It was about as far south in the state that could hold the event, how was the turnout, how well did they manage the games, perking, ease of entry, concessions? What did you do between games? I have been to several final games in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale and thought the year I went to games in Ft. Lauderdale were run better.
    • MarkECannon, do you think the reason why Cardinal Mooney was able to pass the ball and find open receivers very effectively against the Bolles defense was because the line of scrimmage was dominant, and they were able to protect the passer and give him time to scan the field? Do you think that Lakeland needs to get more of a balanced offense to compete at the State Championship level? Thank you.
    • Does that say anything about coaching to you?
    • Ive already stated the out comes for the Vero and northwestern games went about like watching the NFL....(that not a good thing and for me alittle hard to believe the outcomes were organic) over all attendance was down from last year....for me its was just a Blah type finals.
