I wouldn't say their Defense is suspect at all though.  They will be pretty damn strong on D, but you have to be able to keep the ball on O in order for the D to succeed.   This has been UF's problem for quite a while now SMH.   D can't be on the field 247.

UF biggest problem is they can't recruit the right qb if their life depended on it, and i dont see much change unless i missed something but when i tried to look up their qb depth chart the top 2 were both redshirt freshmen, if I'm wrong then can someone give me a link to the real depth chart

I've never seen a program held back for so long because of 1 position

I guess we'll see.  I'm happy with who we got in this class.

He gonna start?

Nope he's at Long Beach Poly this year.   This year the battle for the starting position is between ND transfer Malik Zaire and RS soph Felipe Franks.   I tend to think Zaire starts, but Franks has looked good.  Don't get me wrong I have no faith our offense will be good, what I want is for them to not be horrible.

But they also had a run with some good QBs for a long time...

Danny Wuerfull

Jesse Palmer

Rex Grossman

Chris Leak

Tim Tebow

Is a pretty sound 16 years or so.  You have 2 Heismans in there, a Heisman runner up and Palmer and Leak were better then anything they have had over the last 8 yeas or so.

Between 2011 and 2015 4 transferred out including Jacoby Brisset who may have been more of a loss than anticipated.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter if the Gators have been "held back" when the path to a National Championship generally goes through Alabama.

For depth charts , I like to use this :

Fsu defense held firm for most of the game until the offense started having turnovers

So @Zoe Boy is fsu defense still nothing more than potential?

They did great last night but Bama offense ain't all that either imo and far as Derwin James he's just a blitzing safety .. Nothing special to me..

I still thought it was ridiculous that Trey had to sit out a half for a penalty for last season

Kinda petty by NCAA

Miami LB had to do the same thing too...

And people wonder why players declare as soon as possible

I would leave the ncaa high and dry as soon as possible and enjoy fact they couldn't make another penny off me

Athletes should be paid and it should come directly out of those rich "pretend" executives at the ncaa pockets

Given the relatively short life of most football careers, if you project 5th round or higher, it would probably be a mistake to not go pro when you first become eligible. Each year spent in college probably represents the subtraction of a very large percentage of your potential professional career. As such, leaving seems like a no brainer to me if professional football is your goal. You can always go back and finish the degree after your career is over. Heck, you can even take classes during the off season and online if you want to and have the discipline.

    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy

    • Just wait till spring is over and the top RB in the area will take his talent to 1 Indian Ave.
