#2 - it's called recruiting

I do not know what happened at Booker, but if you are going tp punish some coaches for recruiting, then you better punish them all. Florida's transfer portal is as bad as the NCAA's and with school choice, I do not see any quick or easy way to solve it. Everyone knows these kids' are making moves for football reasons and yet, there is no effort to try and logically stop it. For example, explain to me how the 4 star DT from North Fort Myers, all of sudden ends up at Miami Northwestern. I am not saying MNW teachers or rigor is not as good as NFM, but we all know that move was not made for academics.

North Fort Myers to Miami Northwestern appears to me like the family actually moved.  The 2 schools are over 100 miles away.  I don't take issue with a real bona fide move. What I take issue with is when multiple transfers end up at one school. Especially when you see multiple transfers from school A  now at school B.

Isn't it the responsibility of parents or a parent to make sure their children has the best high school experience as possible. Academically and athletically. I can guarantee you and anyone else that had this kid transferred to IMG Academy what would the response be.

I agree with you. Transferring from a school in Fort Myers to a school in Miami is good little distance everyday back and forth. You could have easily transferred to another school in Fort Myers or went north in the state. But like I stated in another comment parents or a parent wants the best for their children. I don't know what's going on at Booker High school or that community but wish them the best moving forward. Just to think they almost beat Raines but fumbled at the end. Would have been Booker and Raines in the state game.

I heard and wouldn’t be surprised if some family members weren’t involved.  He did not need more exposure because his abilities have already been recognized.  May have wanted to play for a state championship.

Parents absolutely have a responsibility to do whatever they can do, within the existing rules, to benefit their children.   However, the schools/school districts/state/FHSAA all have a duty and responsibility to create a system that is fair, equitable, and competitively balanced for all high school athletes.   Historically, these entities have established rules and regulations to promote a system that works for benefit of the whole and not necessarily for the benefit of a single individual (for example, specific school districts, rules limiting transferring, rules prohibiting recruiting, etc.).  Like many things in life, the pendulum sometimes swings too far one way or the other before it starts swinging back the other way.  That's kind of the way I see it right now.   A system that only benefits a select handful of kids and teams could ultimately kill the sport.  And that would be sad.

I see American Heritage is playing St. Joseph's Prep and Edna Karr

I was waiting for the release of the Edna Karr game. They have been trying to play Karr for years. Both times the game was scheduled, it was cancelled due to hurricanes.

Who do you think will win

Tough to say. I would have to see what Karr brings back from their undefeated team. Louisiana overall is not good at football but some states can churn out one team that can compete with anyone. Like Bishop Gorman from Nevada for example.

Schedules are coming in and I see Northwestern is playing Orange Lutheran. Does anyone have any thoughts on this match up.

They beat St Frances Academy last year who finished top 10 in the country. They have a great defense and top notch coaching. MNW is gonna have to play mistake free ball to win.

I see and I believe Teddy and his Bulls will be up for the challenge. Win or lose the Bulls don't shy from good teams.

I think they will win. I won't predict a score but I see the Bulls winning and games like this helps them. You see they beat Raines in the state game 41-0 and Raines came in undefeated. Raines alumni and community are still in disbelief but when you don't strengthen up your schedule this is your outcome. And I get the level of talent in Jacksonville isn't as good as other parts of FL but come on now.

Agreed. They do play Bolles and TC but Mainland was at home so the farthest they had to go on the road was 45 minutes!!!

They are in a comfort zone and you have got to kick it up a notch to prep for the playoffs.

For example, if a coach knows that a team they will meet in the playoffs runs the wing-T, it’s best to find an opponent who runs it and schedule them. So you get a taste. Raines didn’t get a taste of any type of cooking MNW had!!!!!!!!!

Raines should have went to Venice. Nice drive away from home, Venice always needs games and they pay good. Or Lakeland. Somewhere at least 3 hours away and play a state top 10 type team.

Exactly or go to Georgia.

Problem in Georgia is any team ranked in the top 10 of the state if either in Atlanta or won’t play a team that is any good. Most of all South Georgia will only play the worst Florida teams they can find.

Yeah. Camden County is the worst when it comes to playing bad FL teams. They absolutely refuse to play any good ones at all. The AD straight up said they won’t do it because their region is too tough. And the coach who is from Mainland obviously gets no real say because they are playing 4 more bad FL teams again this year

The championship game cant be the first time you see talent and speed like in dade and boward. If you know your team is capable of making a run, its a pretty good idea to schedule a banger or two from that region if you can. If you got a tough team you got to do the things like scheduling tough to give your kids the best chance possible.
