Pahokee 41, Deerfield Beach 6

was surprised to see Pahokee dominate the lines of scrimmage and out-physical Deerfield. Deerfield has some nice WRs 3 and I forgot the other kids #

Went to my first Muck Bowl last year. I wish we had known about all the food trucks. Do they do the same thing at Pahokee? I'd love to bring a couple of chairs, eat from the trucks and people watch this year. That was a great atmosphere that reminded me of a big game in my old Virginia hometown.

Hope to do that this year since I’m moving to Boca Raton in July.

We got to Coconut Creek today at 3:40 and were told the event had been moved to McArthur, so we kept going. We got there just as Miami Palmetto and Miramar were about to start. Palmetto dominated that one 21-6 in two quarters of play. Palmetto had two little RB who were cat quick with plenty of wiggle and one of them took it 70 yards on the first play from scrimmage.

Up next was North Miami v Sarasota Booker. Booker dominated the LOS, but had trouble finishing drives before pushing a TD over just as the lightning horn sounded and the game was stopped with Booker up 7-0. We headed to the car and sat there for over 30 minutes. It was still lightning and the radar wasn't very promising with storms still rolling east from the Everglades, so we headed home. If Coconut Creek and McArthur got to play, it was going to be awhile. Still it was great to see some live football.

We also had an early supper at Fran's Chicken Haven in Boca Raton. If you like fried chicken (who doesn't?) or chicken livers/gizzards, this is the place. They only have two (2) seat tables, but they do a MASSIVE amount of takeout and we've never had trouble getting a table. This place is a staple for us when we catch a game in southern Palm Beach or northern Broward.

They would get killed Against both teams. They played one of the worst schedules in the state against teams that have no business playing varsity football. They were so bad that they had to secede out of district play for lack of competitive performances.

But I do want to be on record for agreeing 100% that every team who can’t compete in the playoffs should go the independent route. So kudos to them and the other teams who were proactive and understood the landscape.

so.......

talk to us about windermere getting killed.

osceola only beat them 7-0

I’m sure Ray will give us the 411.  Do people say 411 anymore?

Since this is a quote from our coach, "It isn't ever as bad as it looks and is never as good as it looks".   Our starting RB (Sinophat) for next year didn't dress as well as a couple others.  We can't replace "CHICK", so our off season will focus on finding ways to move the ball effectively which we did not last night as we were breaking in 4 new OL though they are huge.  Edgewater beat us in their half 14-0 on two big, busted coverages on pass plays of 65 yards or more for TD's.  Their run game produced nothing on the ground against us, so defensively we showed it to be our strength at this stage.   Windermere is not in the league with these types of teams at this stage plain and simple.

In a partial spring game? Hmm that’s totally the exact same thing as a 4 quarter regular season game

but I thought they were so bad and only played against trash teams that didnt deserve to play varsity football?  so mighty osceola should have put up tons of points with their vaunted wing t attack and inpenatrable defense.  7 points in a half vs a trash team,

superstar team edgewater put up 21 vs osceola, so their defense is pretty dang good to only allow that many points, 2 on blown assignments,

maybe trash windermere is better than you gave them credit.....

just sayin,

Maybe you didn't read my view as I attended the game.   Edgewater beat OHS 14-0 in their half with two busted coverages for (65+ yards) cheap scores but failed to run the ball against us at all.   We are re-tooling our offense after losing the #1 RB in the state of FL.  In the other half,  Edgewater beat Windermere 21-0 and ran the ball down their throat as all 3 scores were on the ground.  Seems like they wanted to work on that rather than running up the score thru the air.   Not here to run Windermere down but again, they have no chance against teams like these two.

Thank you. Windermere is not even in the same stratosphere as these two. They can be at some point in life but not now. They are so bad that they left the FHSAA districts because they knew they didn’t have a snowball chance in hell. Kudos to them for realizing that and not watering down the districts. Kudos to all the other ones like Colonial, University, Oak Ridge etc.

If Windermere wants to get to the next level and graduate to varsity football, then they need to schedule some top Orlando teams in the regular season and eventually spring an upset

Attended Clearwater Jamboree Thursday night.  Clearwater, Cardinal Mooney and Mitchell played.  The story of the night was Cardinal Mooney.  They are a complete team.  Would compare them to the Jesuit team that played Lakeland last week.  It’s going to take a well coached athletic team to beat them.  Their Kickoff Classic is at STA so there will be an early barometer.

Clearwater is very similar to most Tornado teams, plenty of talent, maybe more than usual.  The coaches have plenty to work with so I would say it is in their hands.  That being said, Mooney dismantled them.  No contest.

West Boca knocked Mitchell out of the playoffs last year.  This Mitchell team is young in the trenches.  They were playing without 3 of their top offensive weapons from last season.  One receiver is recovering from an injury.  The other 2 transferred to Clearwater Central Catholic, a RB and a WR.  A father of a couple of Mitchell players told me the RB was a huge loss.  Needless to say,  Mooney dismantled them.

Clearwater defeated Mitchell in the final matchup.

Sounds like Mitchell is really down from last year's strong team.  CCC keeps ripping talent from everyone.  I didn't think Pasco county was within their reach but apparently if Tarpon Springs kids can transfer 50 miles east to Lakeland (someone please explain this to me), Pasco kids can transfer to CCC no prob.

CCC isn’t “ripping talent” from anyone. They can’t force the kid and his family to enroll and travel to Clearwater everyday.

You have to realize that some kids WANT to get to the next level and the best way to do that is to be seen. Pasco County teams DONT WANT TO BE SEEN!!!!!! Mitchell is content with playing a local schedule against average teams and have no college recruiters at their games. Proof is in the schedule.

CCC at least schedules some showcase games where countless of scouts will be.

My son played his freshman year at a Pasco County team and during the freshman meeting I asked the coach if he had any interest playing top Hillsborough teams like Armwood, Tampa Bay Tech or Berkeley Prep and he gave me some coach-speak response, then went and scheduled nobody of note. No quality teams from anywhere. The 2025 schedule got released and it’s no one of note. This was in 2023. So 3 schedules have been created and not one team with a pulse. So the coach never had a desire to play showcase games for his prospective college football players.

The kids from Mitchell will be getting a great education, play better opponents, get better exposure, and compete for a state title. What’s the issue?

Friday night I decide to support my local school, the Auburndale Bloodhounds, as they are slated to host Ft. Meade.  I pull up to the school but there isn’t any football game.  So I look at GoFan and see Auburndale is playing at Bartow.  So I drive over to Bartow but there is no game being played there.  I double check the GoFan, May 23rd 7pm at Bartow High School.  Does anyone know what happened to this game?
