Friday night I decide to support my local school, the Auburndale Bloodhounds, as they are slated to host Ft. Meade.  I pull up to the school but there isn’t any football game.  So I look at GoFan and see Auburndale is playing at Bartow.  So I drive over to Bartow but there is no game being played there.  I double check the GoFan, May 23rd 7pm at Bartow High School.  Does anyone know what happened to this game?

Sounds like Polk county being Polk county

Sounds like Mitchell is really down from last year's strong team.  CCC keeps ripping talent from everyone.  I didn't think Pasco county was within their reach but apparently if Tarpon Springs kids can transfer 50 miles east to Lakeland (someone please explain this to me), Pasco kids can transfer to CCC no prob.

The issue, unfortunately, is that your perspective or understanding is antiquated. There are A LOT of examples of players transferring a very long distance away because their families were able and willing to relocate in pursuit of what they perceieve to be the best opportunities for their kids. No, the Tarpon transfers won't be commuting back and forth to Lakeland every day. They secured housing in the Lakeland area. This is not, actually, as hard to do as people imagine. While you, personally, may only live in homes you've purchased, and you'd only move upon the often difficult process of selling your home, many others are renters. And, if you've set your leases up such that they expire in the spring or summer, you can move at that time without a ton of hassle. The remote working conditions ushered in by both technology and the pandemic have made this much easier than the past.

CCC isn’t “ripping talent” from anyone. They can’t force the kid and his family to enroll and travel to Clearwater everyday.

You have to realize that some kids WANT to get to the next level and the best way to do that is to be seen. Pasco County teams DONT WANT TO BE SEEN!!!!!! Mitchell is content with playing a local schedule against average teams and have no college recruiters at their games. Proof is in the schedule.

Yeah this is the part I agree with regarding all this transfer anarchy and that is I can't blame any kid for doing what they think is in their best interest.  However, a by far more effective way to get seen is go to any high level camp.  If you can compete there, then you are much more discovered than some scout going to CCC and saying, "hey I haven't seen number 22 before, who is that?"  I mean seriously, if you weren't already discovered at a camp then how is CCC going to help you?  Some kids are delusional *but* again, I can't blame them if they feel it's in their best interest.  I don't have the player, I hate the game sort of thing.  I wish we had stricter rules like a one-time only transfer for sports or something like that.

Yeah I know a family that moved to Orlando so their kid could play at The First Academy so I've seen that happen first hand.  I don't know the kids who transferred to Lakeland so yeah, it's right of you to call me out on making assumptions.  However, I also am not blind that funny business is going on everywhere.  I tend to assume the worst until proven otherwise.  Anyway, in this era of few rules or governance, I don't know why I let it still bother me.  I suppose I if my son's teams were constantly receiving talent rather than donating to other teams, I would have a much rosier outlook on things lol.

What I find interesting is the wide disparity in transfer rules across the country.  Unlike the NCAA, there is no national standard for the number of transfers allowed or when one is eligible after transfer.  Some states require a one-year waiting period after transfer, some allow immediate eligibility after the first transfer, and some (like Florida) have a much more liberal set of rules.  Tennessee just passed a rule that states a student can transfer once without an address change and not lose any athletic eligibility, and you would have thought they made a deal with the devil to hear the reaction of most high school coaches and administrators.  Can't imagine their reaction if they worked in Florida.

Game film is and always will be the most effective way to get seen. The eye in the sky don't lie. College coaches visiting the school also has a huge impact in recruiting. Top programs have university after university visiting and getting to know the coaches and players. Hard to find out about a kid's grades, practice habits, classroom behavior, weight room habits, home life, etc.... at a camp with 300 or more kids. I can't count how many times I've been at practice when a college coach asked about a kid that he hasn't heard of yet but may have seen listed on the prospect list that the HC game him before practice. Happens all the time.

The game was on Thursday night, not Friday.  Auburndale beat Fort Meade 38-0.

Went to my first Muck Bowl last year. I wish we had known about all the food trucks. Do they do the same thing at Pahokee? I'd love to bring a couple of chairs, eat from the trucks and people watch this year. That was a great atmosphere that reminded me of a big game in my old Virginia hometown.

Yes, they will have the food trucks in Pahokee

Thank you. Windermere is not even in the same stratosphere as these two. They can be at some point in life but not now. They are so bad that they left the FHSAA districts because they knew they didn’t have a snowball chance in hell. Kudos to them for realizing that and not watering down the districts. Kudos to all the other ones like Colonial, University, Oak Ridge etc.

If Windermere wants to get to the next level and graduate to varsity football, then they need to schedule some top Orlando teams in the regular season and eventually spring an upset

I dont know what planet yall are claiming to be from,

but losing 7-0 to the state runner up as the worst team you have seen ever, is a freaking win in anyones book.  a half or not.  windermere people are calling it a win, held mighty ohs to 7 and 21 to one of the best teams in the state in edgewater.

those are moral victories, other jamboree teams in the area putting up 20, 28, 35, 21 points in a half.  7-0 is not a good look vs the trash windermere team.

You do realize that spring results mean nothing right? My son’s team played a spring game and were without 6 starters who all made some form of all conference last year. Because they were running track and were deep into the season. They couldnt play spring ball and give up real track. And that was just the 6 who ran track. They have a transfer QB who on film looks way better than the backup was. (The starter from last season was a senior). And he couldn’t play in the spring game. Hes 6’4” with a rocket arm, and the backup is 5’10” who runs wildcat. Lol.

My son played Pop Warner with this stud kid who had like 16 touchdowns as a sophomore last year. This kid is special. But he got hurt in track and couldn’t participate in spring. He was the teams everything. QB/RB/WR/SS/KR/PR. He did it all. Now tell me that the team should be able to do just as good without him?

And lastly about Windermere. I’m didn’t call them trash. I said they believed in their heart that they are so bad, and have zero percent chance of sniffing any success in the playoffs, that they seceded and decided to play an independent schedule with other teams who are just as bad or worse than they are

valid, to a degree.

do they keep score?  why wouldnt it just be a scrimmage then....

would you agree that a huge spring game win could catapult a team into fall success?

then a disappointing spring game loss could also push kids to transfer out----im gonna see how spring goes before making a decision--said every year.

and no you didnt say they were trash,

but they also didnt get killed by 2 of the premier programs in the state.

GoFan owes me some money then.

Contacted GoFan yesterday about my $8 refund.  There is not a phone # to call of course.  I found one online.  I called it and left a voicemail.  We’ll see.  Anyway, I went through the process that was a Chat on the GoFan app.  The Chat informed me it did not matter that the event did not occur there will not be a refund. It referred me to the school since the funds go to the school hosting. I called Bartow High.  Told the operator so I’m guessing they transferred me to the athletic director so I left a message.  Not sure I’ll continue to spend much more energy on this but these companies, like GoFan, that do not have an option to speak to a live human being are very impersonal and frustrating.

From your profile picture, you appear to be a Lightning fan.   Knowing that, I'd like to offer you some tickets to the first round playoff games between the Lightning and the Florida Panthers.  No mark-up; face value.  If you're interested, just let me know and I'll send you my Venmo info.   B)

Seriously, how difficult can it be to program in a response message that says "Tickets can no longer be purchased for this event, as it already has taken place" when you try to buy tickets to an event that has already taken place?

Can Windemere pull something positive out of the result? Without a doubt. I’m not trying to rain on their parade. Whatever you need to use as motivation and teaching I’m all for it. But on the outside looking in, there’s not much to read into it. I would love for Windemere to play a top five Orlando Metro team.

The 2024 version of OHS Kowboys was one of the premier programs in the state and my comments reflected that during the season.  Can't come close to projecting that out for next year with the group we fielded against Windermere and a lot can happen over the summer.  Again, Windermere has a nice squad but isn't in the league they would like to be and OHS was without their #1 projected RB for next year and breaking in 4 new OL so our offense was anemic at best with our coaches not satisfied where we are either.  Always the best policy to not over promise what your team will look like until you have plenty of data to back that up.  They ain't close yet.

Have no info indicating that has happened, rather he recently posted our "Voluntary Workouts" for summer kickoff on June 10th.  As was indicated by another poster, Jeff Rolson who was our HC over 10 years ago has resigned at Apopka citing the open transfer policy as a major factor in his decision.

Thanks.   I couldn't remember if you had a line of communication open with DarterBlue, as I haven't seen him on this board in quite some time.

I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying but I spoke to Darter a couple of days ago.  Late in the season he said he wouldn’t be surprised if this happened.  Darter liked and has a lot of respect for Coach Rolfson.  He said it was a shame that Coach didn’t get his state championship against Columbus in 2019.
