That article was written in 2015. I wonder if they receive tax dollars if they have to publicly disclose it

It depends on the source of the state funds. If they were grant in aid appropriations (state grant money), the information should be publicly available. You would just need to find out what state department or agency the grant came from (source). If it were not state grant money (some other state source), then it could easily be hidden.

With all of that said don't forget IMG travels to Venice this week. Really didn't care much about the game until you start to have to scheme for every athlete they have.

they might take venice lightly this week coming off playing 2 dade powers so if venice brings their A game they might have the opportunity to make this a game

Player for player we don't match up. That is just facts.

Play together as a team. Play perfect with very few penalties. Catch a few breaks and maybe its close.

Or it could get ugly quick and get run out of town at home.

I will be positive and go for the keeping it close idea.  In the end it is what it is another game win or lose.

Funny fact is 7A 11 district is fairly weak. Bottom tier teams provide no benefit to play. Beating say a  N Port in the end might get us what 35 points. Losing to IMG may get us 30 points plus 3 bonus points for schedule.

They are.

Venice Braden River Palmetto are the ones usually on the top.

N Port Sarasota Lakewood Ranch are towards the bottom. These teams in the new setup for points may get 35 points for wins. In a good year maybe 40.

If you schedule better opponents and possibly lose it can net 30 plus a bonus 3 for scheduling them.

I'm pointing out the disparity between winning a district game vs losing to say a top teams in the state.

Braden River schedule is not that great. They need to win Friday night to keep things going. They have to play all of those weak district teams and scheduled Booker who is usually very weak.

IMG travels to Venice this week not only seeing a solid team but a contrast in style, sets and atmosphere versus what they have seen the last couple weeks in MC and MNW.

That is what impresses about IMG to me they travel the country versus top teams week in and week out.  For example versus Centennial and your next game is versus Miami Central is challenging.  Both great teams but contrast in style.

Venice does look like a solid little team. Good QB in Carpenter who gets off his throws very quickly and seems to hit his favorite target WR Heiligh pretty accurately. Heiligh is the receiver he goes to about 90% of the time. Carpenter is also pretty fast and can take off when it warrants and in fact he is by far the major rusher on the team  I think that Venice will give IMG a game.  However, if IMG can shut down Heiligh or even slow him down, IMG will win the game going away as Venice does not seem to have another major WR or a major RB. Venice does have a very good defense, though. Don't know if that will be enough.

How good is Venice and do they have a great chance of beating IMG? One thing MNW couldn’t do in that game was get penalties but they did... Smh!!

I think Venice was better last year. And St. Thomas destroyed them then. I would be surprised if Venice gets with 21 of IMG. I just don't see how they do it.

STA has struggled offensively this year. While it won't be easy, several teams in 7A at least have a chance to beat them this year. They are not a lock to win the State title.

I am for Venice without a doubt. I think they are good and better than most teams regardless of the lack of size speed and whatever you want to say about them. They seem to keep winning.

IMG is heavily favored and rightfully so. More D1 kids with offers. More size speed talent you name it.

Here is what I would like to see Friday night. How does Venice respond to everything against them on paper? How do they react when things are not going the way they want them to? Can they reduce the amount of penalties from last week?

I'm not looking for final score on this one. I'm looking for the other things that will make this a learning experience.

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
