Just saw the QB for Tampa Bay Tech, Darryon Jones, transferred to Chaminade. He was sometimes rotated in/out at TBT last season. He did not play QB in the first half of the playoff loss to Lakeland, and TBT was shutout in that half. Then, they brought Jones in and incorporated a lot of QB runs and TBT put up 21 points in the 2nd half and nearly won.

He figures to rotate in at Chaminade as well...in a best case scenario. The Lions have a QB (Tyer Chance) returning from a team that had three different starters throughout 2024.

The transfer is notable because it is another long distance- meaning the player must move to a new address in a new town- transfer. The willingness to make such a difficult, dramatic move as a child/teenager further illustrates the fact that football, even at the prep level, is a business and families see their son's participation in the sport as a matter of managing a professional career. Several high profile programs in the state have welcomed players not only from different towns, but also different counties and different states, in recent years. The vast majority of the moves appear clearly to be motivated exclusively by football.

Funny it seems to matter to many folks now, who back then looked at Neutral as an annoyance back then because he wouldnt let go of what he saw happening to florida he football back then........

I first joined HS football message boards at the end of 1999/beginning of 2000. I've long been one of the most hated people on these boards. Neutral may or may not still be alive, but, we wouldn't necessarily know by his absence. As you say, the game as is now is not one worth investing time, passion or money in.

One thing I do really like about Rise Preparatory Academy is they give great advice to their players.  Their philosophy is it is better to be a starter getting full varsity film on an average team rather than be in mop up duty or shared time on a super team.  They report most kids are getting advised by friends and family that is better to be on a super team where you will have the most college scout connections.  RPA has a proven track record of showing this is not true as their players get tons of offers while starting as 8th and 9th graders on teams that even go 0-10.  However, once they are a proven commodity, they do tend to transfer to football power but only if they are a clear starter on that team.  Transferring to a team just to share time makes no sense business wise unless you are doing it for the championship experience.

To illustrate this I believe that Haines City (playoff team last 2 years although not a powerhouse) lost their starting QB, RB, WR, TE/DL, and CB to neighboring schools.  As a nucleus they would have been better but transferring to Lakeland or Lake Wales provides more eyes watching to display their talents
