Miami Central vs Raines

From what I've just read Miami Central and Raines game is canceled. Apparently the game was switched from Saturday night to Friday. Did anyone else hear this.

The game is still showing up on MaxPreps on both Raines' schedule (home game on Saturday, August 23rd) and on Miami Central's schedule (away game on Saturday, August 23rd).    Since it's on MaxPreps, it has to be true.

If true this would be a sad end to a sorry saga of trying to make a simple game happen

The game has been officially canceled. I have been told the reason why, and it is sad at the end of the day because the kids for both teams are now without a game to open Week 1.

According to my former student and father of Tony Williams, the city has cancelled the game after concerns about gang activity in Jacksonville and the need for police presence and other logistics. Damned shame.

And I believe this was done above the head of DCPS' Athletic Director as well. 

I am just disappointed this is off the schedule.

So, who canceled the game and why?  Inquiring minds want to know. 

Honestly, I might be able to understand it if Duval canceled the game because they didn't want to incur the costs associated with sending one of its teams all the way down to Miami, but this game was scheduled to be played in Jacksonville?   So, back to my question:  why was the game canceled?

The person who made the decision from my understanding is almost at the top of the chain. Why they made this decision, no one want to reveal the reasons why exactly as it seems.

Miami Central would have made them look like they are rebuilding, but the local schedule will make them look like they are reloading

I think so as well. If Raines thought Northwestern was something they haven't seen nothing yet.

There was a spaces where a Raines coach confirmed there were rumored complaints about the game being held on Saturday giving the school an unfair advantage of getting a higher gate compared to other schools. So it was moved to Friday. Then became a logistics thing that turned into it getting canceled all together. How much of that is true is true is uncertain but it's definitely not the doing of the schools. Raines is upset due to that literally being their biggest game/ home game at that getting taken from them

This game was canceled due to safety concerns with gang violence in the area. That's what nobody is talking about.

So why not get the security and police needed for a game of this magnitude. Miami has games bigger than this all the time at Traz Powell Stadium and we don't have any issues.

Coach brought that up too but stated that they haven't had issues inside the stadium at all. But here's a link for a explanation

THIS IS MY THING!!! Bro what type of hating asx city is duval to cancel a game 2 weeks before its supposed to be played. Hurting no one but the KIDS. Crying shame & the city of jacksonville is pissed. How the district had known about this game since june & lets this happen is unacceptable.

Exactly bra just unacceptable and then try to change the time and day. Central is a predominantly inner city black high school since the 70's. Central can't move like that. Now schools like St. Thomas or American Heritage can. Not hurting Central at all, but Raines may never have another big time game like this again.
