from a person that watched this game from start to finish. Not only am I shocked but I’m more so disappointed in Lakeland.

yes this is a KOC & it don’t count toward the record. But it might as well have. You can’t tell me both coaching staffs & players didn’t wanna win this game badly not only for bragging rights but for their city.

the lack of discipline and fight I saw from Lakeland was borderline mind blowing. I know castle is no longer there but DAM!

mistake after mistake after mistake, I’ve never said this about a Lakeland squad and I don’t watch their games often but they looked ill prepared, despite all the back and forth between both teams & their fans.

shout out to the west they went in stood 10 toes down and represented south fl they way they should have. For this to be the MOST HYPED game of the treasure coast classics, it was the most lopsided & least entertaining. 1 team looked as if they belonged and the other team was just there. Sad showing all the way around.

Lakeland has lost the mystique when Castle retired. They are just a name now. There are teams like that around the country who used to be a power, but now are middling teams trying to stay relevant but can’t. Lakeland won some fake suburban title a few years ago and didn’t even have to play a team in the title game who finished top 10 in the state.

They are done. Cooked. Wiped off the map. In the dustbin of history. Pretty soon you won’t even know they existed.

Tampa and Orlando are gonna create a Polk-bypass. You will have to walk with shame just to get into the Lakeland city limits.

So who would you say is running Polk County. If I'm not mistaken besides from Lakeland nobody else has been to states in a minute except Lake Gibson back in 2016 and they lost to Carol City.

I agree with you on everything you said and remember they travel the 2nd week of the schedule to California to play De La Salle.

Nobody runs anything. Everyone just walks. Polk County is finished in football. They might as well all move to the SSAA.

Time for Lakeland to lobby their state representatives to undue the mess they helped to create.

I bet the other Orange and Black school would have something to say:lol:.  They last won in 2022 against Mainland.

As a fellow who watch all three games in person over the two day, I would have to say that the NW Bulls looked very strong, well prepared, and well coached. Surpring 'cause the Bulls HBC just got promoted to the position when Teddy Bridgewater left. I sat with my friends in our regual season seats, and was amazed at how many NW fans travled to Vero. Their fan base where really nice folk. Miami Carol City looked the least prepared team in Saturdays games. Lakeland had some bright spots at running back, and I would never count them out. All in all a hto weekend for good HS football!

I agree on all your points.  I would suggest a retractable roof to be used if there is a daytime game next year.  Started feeling little woozy in the first half much like the Carol City fans were probably feeling watching their team.

Northwestern has a good alumni and always travel well.

Strong words. I can't say you're wrong. But, what I can say is you're an unserious troll who alternates between arguing the results of exhibitions are meaningless and arguing the results of exhibitions cna be used to declare a program "Done. Cooked. Wiped off the map."

Which one is it? Trigger warning: it can't be both at the same time.

The results don’t mean a lot by themself, but when you combine it with a laundry list of other variables that are concerning since the title game obliteration, it all adds up to HEAP BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!

By the end of the 3rd quarter of the Lakeland v NW game, we were wilted, so we left. It's Sunday evening, and I'm still zapped from four games in three days. Random observations...

* It was a benefit game, but Boca West was way better than I thought they'd be. If they don't fumble the football at the end of the first half, they probably get the FG and go in down only 12-6. If Chaminade doesn't get the strip and score off the West Boca pass completion in the 3rd, it's still 12-6 going into the 4th. The WB defense kept Cooper bottled up with the exception of a big run in the 2nd, and a 70+ yard TD run that was called back on an obvious hold.

* Speaking of Cooper, he's a great back, but I thought WB's Javian Mallory was better on THIS night. Compact, good burst, thick, strong, gets his pads down and runs through arm tackles. Miami (FL) has themselves a good back here.

* Vero v Norland was a strange one. Vero spent the first quarter looking unstoppable, then after making it 20-0 in the first minute of the 2nd quarter, practically went belly up. Kudos for Norland to keep fighting to get themselves back in the game.

* Monds is an excellent QB. I have to wonder if he'll be somewhere else after this season, like maybe IMG.

* The Lincoln QB looked sharp, with the exception of the pick six where he stared down his target.

* I felt bad for the Carol City kids. They were so disorganized in just about every phase of the game, and so was the staff, who kept screaming at the kids. I was thinking if your staff is running around like a chicken with its head cut off, that's how your team will play.

* Really impressed by NW. I wondered how they'd respond to Teddy getting suspended and leaving, but they didn't miss a beat. BIG. FAST. and PHYSICAL. will win you a lot of football games. In this one, they cleaned up most of the little mental penalties that plagued them in the two games I saw last year.

* Shocked at how Lakeland lost their composure with multiple personal foul penalties. One kid pushed off to draw an offensive PI in the end zone, then after catching the football, did an over the top celebration that drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a TD pass that didn't count.

* They had one play where a kid couldn't find the right helmet. One of their fans sitting close by was yelling that it was a shame they didn't have the money to buy helmet stickers with numbers on them so players wouldn't pick up the wrong helmet. I thought back to when I played. If your helmet wasn't on your head, it had damn well better be tucked under your arm, in your hand, or in your lap if you were setting on the bench.

* Speaking of the NW fans, I love sitting with them. They are loud and passionate. They remind me of the fans in my old Virginia hometown. They had at least two busloads of fans, plus more who made the drive. Back before the VHSL started holding state title games at UVA/VT/JMU/Liberty/ODU, a particular region would host, and the games were at high schools. We played (and won) two state championships where we were the visiting team, but they let us have the home side because there was more seating to accommodate us.

* I wish I had known Jones Old School BBQ was going to have a truck at Vero.  Based out of Port St Lucie, Dwight Jones makes some fantastic food. We had stopped at Jersey Mike's and put a couple of sammidges in the cooler along with some water and chips. We had planned to tailgate between games, but we were melting and decided to sit in the truck and eat with the A/C on.

* Speaking of food, we ate at Fran's Chicken Haven in Boca Raton, just like every time we go to a game in the area. I always get the livers or gizzards, but the rest will put you into a fried chicken coma as well.

Overall, it was a great start to the season. We're going to try to make three games this week...

Thursday - Cardinal Newman at John Carroll. Looking forward to seeing how Phoenix Donghia (formally of THE Benjamin School) performs at RB for the Crusaders.

Friday - Tentative, but thinking about Eau Gallie/Golly/Golly Gee at Vero.

Saturday - Orange Lutheran at Miami NW. That should be a much stiffer test than Lakeland.

This is my concern as well, but IMG currently has the #1 rated player(and QB) in the nation Jayden Wade who is also in the class of 2028, so unless something happens there, IMG would not be a wise move.

I'd like to see him come back to The Fort, but I at least hope he stays in Vero. I love watching him play.

I agree with your points on Monds JD...... Vero had two injuries on the offensive line, which lead to some offense issues, for a bit.  Monds will be a great QB, and is such a super good kid. Was there for the Lincoln/CC game also. Primes my 66 year old body with Restore and Liquid IV before and during game.

NW fans were exceptional , as they nearly filled the home side! It was just a great weekend for HS football!

I just got done watching the highlights of the game.  One thing that stood out to me is Lakeland looks a lot smaller on the OL than I'm used to seeing from them.  Skill positions seem okay other than QB, which looked shaky.

I checked their roster on Maxpreps and they barely have any lineman?  They must have killed by transfers?
