8A Region 1

1 Winter Park 42.50 vs 8 Spruce Creek 35.5

2 Flagler Palm Coast 41.71  vs 7 Boone 36.17

3 Wekiva 40.71 vs 6 Lake Mary 38.432

4 Seminole (Sanford) 40.20 vs 5 Apopka 39.13

Just out

Timber Creek 34.67, Oviedo 34.57, Evans 34.29, West Orange 34.13

It is funny Timber Creek is over West Orange.  Timber Creek is 2-4 and lost to 4-4 West Orange by 17.  The reason Timber Creek is higher is because they have a win over 6-1 East River who is not good but has a horrible schedule so they have an inflated record which makes Timber Creek better than West Orange.

For those who want the quick rundown of who is projected to make the playoffs and as what seed -- I just pinned a thread with all of that information since I know not everyone likes it in ABC order like the FHSAA posts it.

they have it both ways.   They also have it according to points in each region.

After the first round of playoffs

1 vs 8    2 vs 7    3 vs 6    4 vs 5

How does the second round match up? How does the Home field match up as well ? Would a number 1 seed in a region have home field throughout the playoffs until meeting another Region 1 seed?

1 seed hosts region playoffs and semifinals hosted by the team with highest point average

If say seeds 1, 3, 4 and 7 advance then

1 hosts 7

3 hosts 4

In what is arguably the toughest district in the state, 16-6A districts winner could have the hardest road of all region #1 seeds. How you ask? 4 teams Northwestern, Central, Carol City, and Norland could make the playoffs. The #1 seed could end up playing district foes in the first 3 rounds and then have to go on the road for semis. No incentive there. And since Traz Powell is the home over 10 plus schools in Miami Dade County, there's no true home field advantage. It's just a matter of what side of the stadium you sit on. Change in some way is needed.

Some of us have been saying this from the start. With 4 wildcards per Region it looks like 3 will be coming from 6A-16. They will be seeded #5---#8. The Central/MNW winner will be #1. The loser will be #5. And play again in the second round. No way do they EVER put Dade wildcards in another region.

8 at 1, 5 at 4

7 at 2, 6 at 3

Anyway you cut it only a monster comes out of here. But if you think about it, it's right. 4 Dades have chance to get hot and win a title

With how the points sit right now, damn it sucks Cocoa and Dunnellon couldnt get that game rescheduled. Both are sitting at #1 in their respective 4A regions. Could have been a 4A State Title game preview.

No it wouldn't be. Dunnellon makes their living on beating inferior local teams. Cocoa would paste them

Dunnellon racks up wins against Citrus, Crystal River and Belleview's of the world. They lost the only game they played against a team with a pulse.

They wouldn't win the 1A title.

Cocoa would win by 4 scores or more

Only team Dunnellon has to beat to make Orlando is raines

4a north may be weakest region this year for 3a-8a

Never said anything about the game being good. Merely said it would have been cool to have had a game between 2 region leaders.

It would have been cool to watch a blowout?

They are region leader because someone has to. Would it be cool to watch Alabama play the current leader from the Sun Belt?

I get losing a game sucks and it would be cool for Cocoa to club some overrated team but the leader vs leader angle is misleading

How exactly is Dunnellon overrated?

Have you seen a single person picking them to win 4a or to beat raines?

They a solid ball club in a bad region,  is it they're fault 4a north is having a very bad year overall and 4a as a whole that we actually can pick the state finals right now?

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
