Thursday & Friday night...2 games....

...and around 16 minutes total of football. So goes Florida high school football in late August...and September...and part of October....

Last night: Sebastian River @ Fort Pierce Central a 6-6 game called with 3 minutes and change in the first.

Tonight: Cypress Lake @ Pahokee a 7-0 game with Pahokee leading with a little over 5 minutes in the first. At least we got some chicken at Dixie Fried Chicken in Belle Glade.

Anyone know why the Venice-MNW game was cancelled?

I was sitting in the Traz Powell parking lot when the message came through that game had been called. There was a steady rain that continued to fall the whole hour we waited for the stadium to open.  There was lightning in the distance but nothing close by. Pretty surprising that they called the game at such an early time of 830. I don’t know the exact reason but I’m assuming it was weather. You would think they would wait a little longer to make that decision.  Not sure who makes that decision. A former referee told me that the home team makes the decision to call it. Our resident expert on officiating, jambun, would probably be able to clarify.

There is no set standard for canceling/postponing a game. Usually, it is the Home-Team Administration that makes the decision though.
