Let’s freaking gooooooooooooo. In this game the Bucs started out fantastic getting to a 19-0 lead at the half. After a silent 3rd quarter for both teams, Cocoa started a comeback in the 4th getting 14. After they got an onside kick I was nervous as crap but then we got a pick in the end zone and ran the clock out. I’m so proud of my Bucs and hope they can take this to the postseason and maybe even a state championship!!!!

Cocoa had their chances but can't keep dropping a bunch a passes when the QB does make good throws and the QB can't make the same mistakes by just throwing it up and hoping there's someone down the field to catch it without making a read. First play after recovering the onside with a lil over 2mins left he just heaves the ball down field to the endzone with one receiver and pretty much 3 Bucs receiver not even close. Easy pick to seal the win.

When I saw him make that throw and our defender back there I flipped out because I lwk thought we might blow it but our D saves us yet again. If we can get our offense really rolling we could be a top team this year.

Huge upset!

I knew we would have been hungry after that beatdown they gave us last year (51-0). When I saw them playing at the start, I saw that they came here to play. Also we drew a bigger crowd than I thought we would have as many Bucs fans made the trip. Happy we were able to pull it off.

As soon as he released it and the camera panned and it was a deep ball i was like here we go again lol. The onside kick was executed perfectly so I instantly thought they would methodically work it down the field with swings, hitches, slants, screens and bubbles with some draws sprinkled to score the go ahead. Not a bomb on the first play lol. But Mainland is gonna be a dangerous team once they get rolling. And if Eau Gallie is able to get their starting QB back before the end of the season they will be scary. Next year and the season after they will be a monster

Yea they were prepared for their get back and they earned every bit of it. Almost let it slip at the end but capitalized on every mistake made too

This game is an upset now because Cocoa is highly ranked. Cocoa was kept in the rankings even though they almost lost to Merritt Island. It wasn’t enough to just boot them out.

Now it’s obvious they are barely top 25 RIGHT NOW. Maybe not. Mainland is. Cocoa can reestablish themselves by beating Vero this week. Gonna be a tall task.

I hope we can become a powerhouse over the next few years but we’re losing some talent in the senior class this year and the junior class next year will be an even bigger hit. Hoping that we have some good talent on the JV squad to take their place.

    • Yeah in the 70’s-90’s the debate will most likely be between the top 2 largest class state champs
    • 1976 - Godby HS went 14-0, defeated ledgendary Gene Cox, Leon Lions for the 1st time in school history in its last game of the regular season. Beat a Carol City Team, (that would come back the next year to win the 1977 state title), 21-15 in Lakeland, FL for the 1976 4A title. Two members of that Godby team (Sammy Knight, Chris Hobbs) would then lead FAMU to a upset win over the University of Miami. 1978 - Meritt Island - Beat Carl Madison coached (going to see the name Carl Madison alot through out the 80's),Pine Forrest for the 4A state Title 20-16 and would go on to be repeat state champs winning the 1979 state 4A state title as well, seeing Pine Forrest once again in the Finals 1979 - Merritt Island - Beat Pine Forrest 19-14 1980 - Argument could be made that 3A state Champ Gainesville HS was the states best, as they defeated Titusville on Titusville's home field 21-15, but in the end Carl Madison's (who we'll talk about again in the 80's), Tate HS has to be considered the state best destorying Miami Columbus HS 35-7! 1981 - Again 3A would again have to be where the state's best team played. Palatka after struggling in its 1st round game went on to dominate evenutally winning the state title 42-2 over Suncoast. Unlike Vero Beach (which won the 4A state itle that year), Palatka was loaded with star power, with 2 of its players eventually playing in the NFL (John L Williams, and Jarvis Williams) 1982 - Going 3A once again as Titusville would shutout 3 of its 4 playoff opponents, winning the state title over Osceola 33-0 1983 - 4A Manatee High School goes 14-0 for its 1st state title and the beginning of a dynasty through out the 80's and into the early 90's   more later.......
