Vero played poorly and 2nd game with our backup QB starting due to our normal starter out with an injury. The 3 points Cocoa had was from a DL interception with about 10 seconds left and they were able to get a field goal before the half. As mentioned Vero made a lot of bad judgement calls and drew a lot of penalties yet as the score shows they really dominated them and it could have been worse (2 long punt returns called back, 1 was all the way to the 1 yard line). What’s up with Cocoa? Mainland last week and Vero this week. I thought this might be a trap game for Vero and expected it to be a lot closer.

@Drogo what grade is EJ White? Any chance he takes over Monds as the starter do you think? He’s proving to be a solid QB.

Senior, committed to FSU, was Vero’s backup QB as a freshman before moving to receiver, I still think Monds is the starter when he comes back, but no need to rush him with EJ playing so well, and the schedule eases up for the next couple of weeks.

Congrats!  No one wins forever.  New year, new lineup, new possibilities.

This has to be Cocoa’s worst team in years, Vero was obviously the better team tonight, but what surprised me was the lack of effort from Cocoa. I can’t remember seeing that from them before. I can see them losing several more games this year to be honest.

JMHO - Lenny has a legitimate decision to make when Monds is healthy.

Not a shot at Monds, as I think he could go down as the best QB in the history of the Treasure Coast: I think 11 at QB gives you the best chance to win a state championship.

Nice problem to have: who do you start at QB?

1. Senior WR who is committed to FSU and just beat two state semifinalist and a state champion in his 2.5 games at QB or

2. Sophomore starting QB who holds probably 50+ offers and is the #1 rated QB in the country for the c/o 2028

we should all have these kind of “problems”

The loss wasn't surprising just the way they lost was. All honesty, Cocoa is very young on the offensive side of the ball. Defense is still solid. As you saw with the 2 interceptions in the 2nd quarter. Cocoa had a chance to go into half down 7-3, 7-6, 14-10, tied 10-10 or even up 10-6. Vero is a complete team even with white at QB and i feel more of a threat with him at QB. Cocoa has one returner from last season on offense. The rest are all new starters. QB still forcing some throws including that pick six into excellent tight coverage that honestly he should've just checked down, threw away or ran. Cocoa got lucky with some calls and bounce of balls especially that punt hitting the Veros player's leg lol. Just couldn't capitalize off mistakes. Receivers still dropping catchable balls which doesn't help the QBs confidence at all. Currently sitting at what 7 or 8 interceptions on the season with on 2tds. With one of the interceptions costing them the game against Mainalnd after getting the onside recovery with a lil over 2mins remaining in that game.

Growing pains for sure. The schedule doesn't get much easier. I see one more guaranteed loss to Norland. Depending on how they do against Heritage next week.....if they struggle they may have a toss up against Eau Gallie. If they handle Heritage or demolish Heritage then they will win against Eau Gallie in the same fashion they beat Bradford

I’m not sure of the status of Eau Gallie’s starting QB, but they are a much different team with him in there, when he went down during the Vero game, they offensively were a wildcat team with a minimal passing game. If he comes back they are much more formidable.

I honestly think he's done for the season unless they make a deep run. Was hearing he dislocated his knee. Not sure if he damaged or tore any ligaments. He's a junior this year

Thanks for the breakdown! This was what I was wondering and curious about.
