My Panthers hit the road for the first time in this early season on Saturday night. The Boyd Anderson cobras will host us on for their homecoming with their first official home game this season. They had to forfeit their week 1  home game due to not having enough players.

 

In what is always a Huge Rival/money game with these two squads, I expect nothing less Saturday night(Crowd wise). 

 
 
 
 
 

THE LAST 5 meetings with these rivals. In what was always a back and forth between these two with the cobras getting the best of us from 2005-2009, it has been completely 1 sided in favor of the panthers recently. 
 

2019-2020 - DILLARD 41 B.A 6

2021-2022 - DILLARD 44 B.A 0

2022-2023- DILLARD 50 B.A 0

2023-2024- DILLARD 42 B.A 7

2024-2025 - DILLARD 59 B.A 6

i expect much of the same Saturday night, it’s a rival opponent on the road so you have to respect each game, each opponent as if their undefeated. 
 

in games like these great teams leave ZERO DOUBT whose the superior, I got the panthers winning….

Back in the day, (pre-1930’s) teams would typically play college freshman teams. But that was when lineman were 150 pounds :P

It's unfortunate but until the Soul Bowl game against Ely, Dillard won't see anyone and possibly blow every other opponent out. I know people are going to ridicule me about what I'm saying, but when it comes to rivalry games record goes out the window and Ely always play Dillard strong.

It was a brutal game to watch.  I’ve seen about 40 teams play live this year.  I rate them in the bottom 2.  The band made a grand entrance at the very end of halftime.  Pretty sure they didn’t realize there was a running clock and only played 3 songs.  Rough night for Ely.

Wow they got their end of the 3rd ? Even if it wasn’t a running clock getting there that late, what’s the point

That’s great Dillardboyz.  I’m sitting in the Monsignor Pace parking lot pinned into my parking space by a school bus with the Southridge football players in it.  Their game against Hialeah was supposed to start at 7 PM, but there is a weather delay. They have not allowed anyone to go into the stadium yet. Enjoy your blowout!

      How many of these top 8 win a state title?  The open division is a great idea until you use the FHSAA rankings which suck.

      So absolutely dumb question here.  How are you allowed into the playoffs if you didn't play any district games?  Without being in a district, you aren't assigned a region so it seems like you should be ineligible since you don't have a region to qualify in?   Excuse my language, but FUCK THE FIRST ACADEMY!  They cheat, break all the rules, and then wreck everyone else's playoff experience.  There are teams still in limbo as they sort this out.  FUCK THE FIRST ACADEMY! I have never written a swear word in any post on this forum so for me to start posting language like this, it really means I truly hate that team.  They recruited, broke rules and then decided to be IMG and play a national schedule.  Great, a national team has a different mission than the rest of us who roll with our student body.  GTFO of our playoffs and go play with the other recruiters.  I personally know a kid who transferred into that school this year.  This kid has not played for the same team two years in a row since I first met him in youth ball.  He is home schooled (so no school essentially), has reclassified to develop more, and is the perfect fit for those no-school, sports only mercenaries who play for TFA.  He somehow transfers 100+ miles to another school too?  I guess that's legal... looking at you Lakeland and Venice lol.   Anyway, did I mention FUCK THE FIRST ACADEMY yet?

      That’s horrible: holding the winter sports hostage. This is digusting behavior on the part of the FHSAA. These actions are common with entities that have nothing to lose, and want to sabotage as much as possible before crashing and burning.    The FHSAA doesn’t seem redeemable. It’s time to flush this turd down the toilet and start over

      My son is a wrestler and the 24th ranked 215 in the state for 3A.  This is definitely going to hurt him initially because wrestling is a really tough sport to jump back into and he will be behind.  The positive is the heavier weight classes (190+) are typically football players so most kids are joining late due to football so it's mostly equal footing catching up.   Now our basketball team is absolutely gutted by this.  They can't even field a team until they get their guys back from football.

      My son's team is in the 4A-7A FIT and I don't think there are any truly bad teams in this bracket.  It seems like it would be a better tournament if they either combined 1A-3A with the 4A-7A or Rural FIT bracket.  It's still experimental so maybe FHSAA will make adjustments next year? As far as why is a 2-8 team in the tournament?  Talking to our coach, you have to opt into the tournament.  There are teams out there who opted out so a 2-8 team had to opt in to agree to travel 6 hrs for a meaningless tournament.  Pensacola HS wants to extend their miserable season for some reason?  Maybe they are young and want some more development time?  I dunno, no way I would have opted in.
