Clearly these rankings just confirm what we have all known all along . . . that the South Florida schools are vastly overrated.   I mean, just look at these schools and their current state ranking:  Central - 54, Northwestern - 60, Chaminade-Madonna - 72, STA - 93 and AHP - 214.

Just goes to show you what a joke the MaxPreps rankings are.  I mean, how could STA be ranked 12th nationally?  Or C-M be 18th?  Or MC be 27th or NW be 35th or AHP be 40th?

Let me rephrase this:  according to MaxPreps, the five South Florida schools listed above are all in the Top 40 in the NATIONAL rankings . . . yet none of them are in the Top 50 in the current STATE rankings.

It's almost as if something is wrong with the FHSAA state ranking system.  Then, again, that system does have Dillard ranked at 82, so maybe it knows what it's doing.  :D

Just my sarcastic perspective of the day.

We all know what the real problem is.  Removing the single biggest factor in a any power index, margin of victory, makes any power index worthless.  A 3-point loss to Mater Dei should boost any team into the top 5 of any index.  Yet this 3-point loss is no different than another school losing 70 - 0 to Mater Dei.  It just doesn't make any mathematical sense yet the decision makers don't care about accuracy.  There is a very simple solution to the core issue which is they don't want teams intentionally running up scores to improve their rankings.  The solution is to cap scoring margin at 35 points, which is the running clock margin. The running clock distorts any margins > 35 points anyway so just cap it there and teams will not have any incentive to run it up beyond this point.  I mean, this is too simple so there's no way they would adopt this suggestion.
