You know that I am going to ask for details. Were most of the fouls procedural penalties or judgement calls?

Not Mark, but I'll chip in. Multiple holding calls, a couple of targeting calls, a roughing the passer, an intentional grounding, and the usual false starts/illegal shifts/substitution infractions, and Glades Central ad two sideline warning calls.  We had a bizarre ending the the first quarter when Sebring picked up 3 consecutive 5 yard penalties on defense to have three straight plays without any time on the clock I've watched a metric ton of football and I've never seen that many plays in a row with no time on the clock. Speaking of the clock, the most egregious officiating error on the night came when an official signaled for the clock to keep running when a kid from Sebring was forced out of bounds.  After some discussion, they put about 14 seconds back on the clock. No idea what the official was thinking there.

Ironically, the same thing happened at Jensen v FPC tonight, except the official didn't give ANY signal to stop the clock OR keep it running after a ball carrier went out of bounds. Maybe 7 seconds or so ticked off before one of them was like, "Hey, we need to stop the clock". They also had a moment where they lost track of what down it was, but after a 2-3 minute discussion, they got the call right. Otherwise, it was a well called game.

Sebring is better than you guys are giving them credit.   They've played a brutal schedule and played a lot of good teams tough.  They are definitely better than their record.

Your theory, which I agree with, flies in the face of those making the case that it proves that a weak schedule is null and void.   Quite the opposite seems to be the case here as when the going gets tough who can dig deeper.  There is a difference in losing to strong teams as opposed to weak teams despite the records being identical.  The same case is true for beating weak teams as opposed to winning against tough competition despite the records being the same.  This is proven out during the playoffs annually.  That's why I often refer to some of the 1st and 2nd round opponents you see as "PRETENDERS" thus the lopsided scores.

Dillard, my thing for you, where was all this attention when we beat Bishop Verot for the district title? As soon as we lose, we headline the website? It seems like you waited for us to lose. It's all good. My defense is still playing well. It reminds me of when we played your Panthers around 2009 and got lucky. We committed about 6 turnovers and lost by like 3 or 4 ...... we still were a good team. Bad games happen, we gotta respond....

We went to the state that year, too, if I'm not mistaken

I would guess that JD Hoss supports the two-time Defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers!

We had planned on taking in an exhibition game this year to see if we'd like it, but never got around to it. I've never watched hockey beyond some highlights on TV and know next to nothing about it other than if the puck goes in the net, it's worth one point. I also understand the penalty box and that there is some sort of rule about the blue line and an icing penalty, although I've always considered icing a good thing, and should never be penalized.

I'll also say that as someone who tried to ice skate years ago and the next day looked like someone who had been in a car accident, so I can definitely appreciate the skills these guys have, as skating is an afterthought to them, no different than running is to a football player. I had three friends back in TN who would drive to Nashville to watch the Predators a few times a year and to Knoxville to watch their Ice Bears minor league team, but I never went with them.

    • Just wait a couple of years.  More schools keep leaving fhsaa they'll have their 8 team open division because that'll be all that's left.
    • using maxpreps rankings as the only decider for playoff berths.  no made up fhsaa rankings
    • So, back to the original post. Did anyone attend, watch or actually see/hear or read the minutes of what was discussed at the meeting? Were there any takeaways positive or negative? Any additional items that may have been brought up for discussion? Was anything decided?
    • Man, listen here, noimsayin... back in the day when I was slingin' subs at the Publix deli counter—yeah, the one where the old ladies come in askin' for "just a little bit of everything" like they orderin' from the Chinese buffet—I used to hear all kinds of wild stories from folks. But this one from nolebull813? This take the cake, bruh.   Picture this: It's 1990-somethin', I'm still young, fresh outta FAMU, chasin' this fine lil' thing who worked nights at the strip club off I-4 (don't judge, we all had our phases, and she said she was "dancin' to pay for nursing school"... yeah, I believed that for about three dates before the bouncer introduced himself real personal-like). Anyway, I'm sittin' there one night losin' my last $20 on a Dolphins game—'cause why not throw good money after bad, right?—when some coach from who-knows-where starts spinnin' this tale about how the FHSAA had this ironclad bylaw: one sport skips district, boom, whole school gets the death penalty for playoffs. Cross country ghosts the meet? Football, hoops, baseball—all of 'em sittin' home watchin' on TV like they owe child support.   I remember thinkin', "Man, that sound like some straight-up mafia rules. Like, Don Corleone runnin' the FHSAA board meetin' with a cigar and a gavel." But even back then, I was like, "Hold up... where the proof at? You got the handbook page? A newspaper clip? Somethin' besides 'I remember'?"   Fast forward to now—I'm pushin' 70, still at Publix (customer service counter these days, where I get to hear why someone's coupons expired in 2008 and it's my fault), and I been diggin' through every old FHSAA handbook I could find online, every statute from the '90s and 2000s, every news blip about sanctions. Ain't nothin'. Zero. Zilch. Not one single bylaw sayin' "cross country no-show = everybody go home." Penalties? Yeah, they hit the sport that messed up—fines, forfeits, maybe a year ban for that team. But the whole damn school? Nah, that ain't how they roll. Even when they drop the hammer on big dogs like The First Academy or Gadsden County for recruitin' nonsense, it's football-only gettin' the boot. Not basketball, not track, not even the cheer squad.   And that magic incident with the cross country team? Gone. Poof. No school name, no year, no article, no nothin'. It's like Bigfoot—everybody "knows somebody who saw it," but when you ask for the photo, crickets.   So nolebull813 out here droppin' these gems like they gospel, long on hot air, short on receipts. Bruh, if you gonna tell a story that wild, at least bring the receipts... or buy me a beer first. 'Cause right now? It sound like the kinda tale you tell after losin' a parlay and need somethin' to blame besides your bad picks.   Me?  I'll stick to what I know: Florida high school football is the best show in town, the FHSAA got rules (some dumb, some fair), but they ain't never been out here punishin' the whole cafeteria line 'cause one kid skipped gym class. Noimsayin'? Keep 'em comin', though—gives me somethin' to laugh about while I'm refundin' expired milk.
    • I’m old enough to remember that the FHSAA had a bylaw in place that if any sport refuses to compete in district competition, EVERY SPORT FROM THAT SCHOOL IS BANNED FROM THE PLAYOFFS FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!! There was a team that their cross country didn’t compete, so the football, basketball, baseball and every other sport was banned from the playoffs.    This corrupt and incompetent organization should be disbanded
