I agree with this assessment. I’m still confused how they won state last year, especially with Mallory missing the majority of the playoffs

They were lucky to be in a bad class and weak bracket. They didn’t have to play a team in the state top 15 at all the whole playoffs. 

Their semi final opponent wasn’t even top 25, and the finals opponent was 19th. Which is generous for both. 
 

And they barely beat Southridge. 
 

in the top classes (4A-7A) West Boca in 6A had by far the easiest path to a title

I wouldn't have considered it an upset. Newman has a really good team. We might have went to this one if it hadn't been at Newman. It's a terrible place to watch a game unless you get there early enough to get in the home stands. The visitor seating is small and has a terrible sight line. If you're not standing on the top row, you're not going to see much. We moved to the end zone fence to watch the one time we were there, and it was covered with ads, so you couldn't see through it, and my wife was just tall enough to see over it.

Yeah. Maybe Monarch or West Broward as other possibles if they get them in the bracket.
