its crazy how GA have all their playoff brackets and the 1st round matchups out already and their regualr season finished the same day as ours.

Theres no computers out there that can have the 1st round matchups out by tomorrow? Lol

I know this upcoming week is used for make up games. But for the most part 95% of south florida has completed their regular season schedule and compared to last weeks latest playoff bracket predictions for round 1, not much has changed from last week as far as results that could flip seeds and etc. I know florida loves the suspense factor lol which is why they got a entire YouTube live segment on Thursday but sheessh

I'll try my best not to be offenseive.  Other states, (especially in the south) are not that bright.  There's no reason why Florida can't run circles around everyone else but it takes a willingness to do so.  I'm in Georgia and I'm simulataneouly amazed and pissed off that Florida can't or won't do better.

Many including myself have complained before. Having your info on MaxPreps or any other outlet is fine. However, if the FHSAA is truly the governing entity for the state of Florida, they need to take the lead and act like it. If the FHSAA maintained an accurate database of schedules and results, everything you speak of could be easily automated but what do me and my 25+ years of I.T. experience know.  Yes, I majored in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematical Science.  The only reason I didn't completely double major was because of health issues with my dad and as the eldest child needed to hurry up and get out of school to help out. I don't care what anyone says. In 2025 there is no excuse for the piss poor conditions and resources that we have to rely on. I truly believe the FHSAA has; 1) Given up or 2) doesn't care. Either way, it's not a good look for the greatest high school football state in America.

It has been hard for me to follow your example of not being offensive when it comes to being critical of the FHSAA regarding the playoff brackets for THIS Friday night.  They should have done whatever was necessary, working thru the weekend, getting more help, speeding up the computer, anything to post those playoff brackets by Sunday night.  No later than Monday noon so each team knew who their opponent was when they started practicing Monday.  Criticism isn't driven because the team I like somehow is handicapped as just checking the status of rankings on the FHSAA website it normally gets updated every Tuesday morning but nothing today thus far.  As previously stated by others, the higher rankings are pretty much baked in this late in the season so it appears from last week's ranking we will be playing Melbourne again and I imagine our coaching staff is assuming the same and working accordingly.  This though is another example that reflects so terribly on this organization.  Embarrassing for sure.

My son's team has been in limbo this week, practicing without knowing if they are playing next week or not.  This bye week sucks ass.  There are a ton of multi-sport kids who can't start their next sport while they sit around idle for two weeks.  The season + post season was already too long.  F*** this bye week, there has to be a better way!  Not only that, the last games were played on Tuesday. Why the **** do we have to wait until Thurs PM to find out???

I feel your pain, but Florida, as a state, got very lucky this year with weather.  Unlike last year, we didn't have any significant hurricane events so, for the most part, and with the exception of a few early-season thunderstorm/lightning cancellations, all games were played.  As pointed out, I think any make-up games had to be played by Tuesday of this week.

I suspect the top 6 or 7 teams in each region like the idea of a bye week leading into the playoffs.   It gives teams a chance to get healthy before they enter the playoff run.  But, you're right about the teams on the bubble . . . the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th teams are sitting out there not even knowing if they're going to be playing in the playoffs.  But at least we can figure out who's likely to make it and who's likely to be left at home, because we all know the formula that gets used to determine the rankings, right?

Looks like you have your answer now . . . hosting a game in the FIT, right?

Yeah, I really, really did not want to be in the FIT because I did not want to travel all over the state for some meaningless trophy.  Not only that, the program has to fund this completely on its own from the booster club unlike the playoffs.  However, I've somewhat warmed up to it in the past week once I considered how rare the post-season is for a long-time have-not program like PHU.  It's good for these seniors to be one of the rare senior classes to experience the post-season.

    • Just wait a couple of years.  More schools keep leaving fhsaa they'll have their 8 team open division because that'll be all that's left.
    • using maxpreps rankings as the only decider for playoff berths.  no made up fhsaa rankings
    • So, back to the original post. Did anyone attend, watch or actually see/hear or read the minutes of what was discussed at the meeting? Were there any takeaways positive or negative? Any additional items that may have been brought up for discussion? Was anything decided?
    • Man, listen here, noimsayin... back in the day when I was slingin' subs at the Publix deli counter—yeah, the one where the old ladies come in askin' for "just a little bit of everything" like they orderin' from the Chinese buffet—I used to hear all kinds of wild stories from folks. But this one from nolebull813? This take the cake, bruh.   Picture this: It's 1990-somethin', I'm still young, fresh outta FAMU, chasin' this fine lil' thing who worked nights at the strip club off I-4 (don't judge, we all had our phases, and she said she was "dancin' to pay for nursing school"... yeah, I believed that for about three dates before the bouncer introduced himself real personal-like). Anyway, I'm sittin' there one night losin' my last $20 on a Dolphins game—'cause why not throw good money after bad, right?—when some coach from who-knows-where starts spinnin' this tale about how the FHSAA had this ironclad bylaw: one sport skips district, boom, whole school gets the death penalty for playoffs. Cross country ghosts the meet? Football, hoops, baseball—all of 'em sittin' home watchin' on TV like they owe child support.   I remember thinkin', "Man, that sound like some straight-up mafia rules. Like, Don Corleone runnin' the FHSAA board meetin' with a cigar and a gavel." But even back then, I was like, "Hold up... where the proof at? You got the handbook page? A newspaper clip? Somethin' besides 'I remember'?"   Fast forward to now—I'm pushin' 70, still at Publix (customer service counter these days, where I get to hear why someone's coupons expired in 2008 and it's my fault), and I been diggin' through every old FHSAA handbook I could find online, every statute from the '90s and 2000s, every news blip about sanctions. Ain't nothin'. Zero. Zilch. Not one single bylaw sayin' "cross country no-show = everybody go home." Penalties? Yeah, they hit the sport that messed up—fines, forfeits, maybe a year ban for that team. But the whole damn school? Nah, that ain't how they roll. Even when they drop the hammer on big dogs like The First Academy or Gadsden County for recruitin' nonsense, it's football-only gettin' the boot. Not basketball, not track, not even the cheer squad.   And that magic incident with the cross country team? Gone. Poof. No school name, no year, no article, no nothin'. It's like Bigfoot—everybody "knows somebody who saw it," but when you ask for the photo, crickets.   So nolebull813 out here droppin' these gems like they gospel, long on hot air, short on receipts. Bruh, if you gonna tell a story that wild, at least bring the receipts... or buy me a beer first. 'Cause right now? It sound like the kinda tale you tell after losin' a parlay and need somethin' to blame besides your bad picks.   Me?  I'll stick to what I know: Florida high school football is the best show in town, the FHSAA got rules (some dumb, some fair), but they ain't never been out here punishin' the whole cafeteria line 'cause one kid skipped gym class. Noimsayin'? Keep 'em comin', though—gives me somethin' to laugh about while I'm refundin' expired milk.
    • I’m old enough to remember that the FHSAA had a bylaw in place that if any sport refuses to compete in district competition, EVERY SPORT FROM THAT SCHOOL IS BANNED FROM THE PLAYOFFS FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!! There was a team that their cross country didn’t compete, so the football, basketball, baseball and every other sport was banned from the playoffs.    This corrupt and incompetent organization should be disbanded
