I am really confused about the SSAA playoffs.  They have a bunch of different brackets.  Who is the actual SSAA champion?  How do they determine the other brackets like 5A, 4A, etc?  Finally, where TF are their standings?  I go to their site and all I see are 2024 brackets and no 2025 standings or brackets.

There are no standings besides the 8-man division, as there are no districts in the 11-man/Atlantic division. Teams schedule their own 10 games and are ranked based on 3 categories. The top 8-ranked teams in North and South are in the State Championship bracket for 11-man and Atlantic. 8-man has divisions, so the state championship bracket consists of 6 division winners and 10 wildcard teams, based on rankings. All other brackets are determined by rankings, but they are consolation brackets and not a State championship.

If you're having a good year based on the three criteria, then you will play against others who are having a good year in the playoffs; if you're having a bad year, then you will be paired with others who are struggling, but it's not a state championship. Gives everyone something to play for, but does not give out multiple 11-man state championships or multiple Atlantic State championships

Many thanks to Heartland Archives.  He helped me get on Gobound to purchase my ticket for Friday night.  I guess Gobound is the Gofan for the SSAA.  I’ll be attending Westminster Academy @ NSU/University.

Thank you, that explains a lot!  My next question is what is this Atlantic division and what this the difference between the Atlantic and the rest of SSAA?

SSAA is for private/charter schools with enrollment of 800 or fewer. Started roughly 12 years ago with 8 schools, and now it has grown to 98 schools in total within the SSAA. A few years ago, four public schools reached out looking for something different. SSAA created the Atlantic League for public schools or larger private/charter schools. It started with four teams and has now grown to 20 this year. SSAA caps enrollment at 800, but doesn't divide divisions or brackets by enrollment, based solely on how you did this year. Atlantic League does not have an enrollment cap. 8-man roster sizes can be a maximum of 25; that's why you see teams go to 11-man, which is the goal for most. You can't play 8-man with a roster size over 25.

Hope that helps.

I love the SSAA. It provides teams that don’t subscribe to the win at all cost, recruited up transfer circus that is mainstream amongst HSFB around the country.

I don’t think it makes any sense to be in the FHSAA and only win 0-3 games every year and have 0% chance to win the championship.

I would like to see about 250-300 teams in the SSAA one day and have the same amount in the FHSAA and go down to 4 classes.

Just got home from the Nova Southeastern University School Sharks hosting the Westminster Academy Lions.  NSU won 41-15.  It was 17-7 at half then Westminster returned the 2nd half for a TD but . . holding penalty.  That TD could have made this a different game but the Sharks were dominant for the rest of the half.  That’s not to say Westminster wasn’t competitive.  In my view the difference in the game was NSU’s DL against Westminister’s OL.

So NSU will face Jupiter Christian next week.  @JDHoss was at their game.  He stated the JC QB is big time.

I have to add, this Nova Southeastern campus is huge.  Night had fallen and it took me 15-20 minutes after arriving to find the campus.  After parking in one of the parking garages, I asked a few separate people for directions.  They pointed different directions.  I got back in my car.  I decided to drive towards the brightest lit area which could possibly be a stadium.  I found one and went inside.  It turned out to be an impressive diving arena where practice was taking place.  Fortunately I found a coach that took my phone and entered the gps route to the football stadium.  To add, this was the most dimly lit high school football stadium I have ever been in.  The stadium was nice and the atmosphere was good.

Dorian Fauntleroy (his parents missed a great opportunity to name him Lord) is a nice prospect for the 2027 class. Decent size @ 6'2 185, good arm and above average  athleticism. He supposedly has offers from Arkansas, Memfuss, and UCF. Jupiter Christian has a nice team that just guessing, may be the best team in that division.  I'd like to see Fauntleroy step up in competition next year. Maybe there will be better competition next week, but the 8-2 Out of Door Academy team they played and mercy ruled tonight was really weak.

    • I’ve been to 15 Finals.  This year’s games were the best I’ve ever attended.  For what it’s worth, here are my thoughts.  I sat on the the Press Box/Suites side for every game.   Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   > 1A - The Chaminade fans I interacted with were very overconfident.  I sat near one whose stepson was the starting center.  I told him I thought Cardinal Newman would keep the game close until halftime and then Chaminade would run away with it.    He looked at me like I was crazy then proceeded telling me how superior Chaminade was.  After Cardinal Newman scored the first touchdown I didn’t even look at him.  He then proceeded to get up and found a cluster of Chaminade fans to sit with.     Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   >   Elevate Everyday Play Elevated play essentials that make space for what matters. Our pieces look as...   > When the game ended many of the Chaminade fans just sat and stared into space.  Not looking at each other.  Not saying anything. 2A - I took enjoyment watching a team from the city of Sarasota where I grew up from the age of 10.  Had seen both teams play this year so I thought I had a good gauge on this game.  I mistakenly thought this would be a closer game.  I was amazed how much Mooney dominated the lines of scrimmage. 3A - The big story this season for Northwestern was the replacement at QB of last year’s starter, Leon Strawder, with a sophomore transfer from Ransom Everglades. The Bulls new QB, Neumann Lawrence, was brought over to Northwestern by Teddy Bridgewater himself (at least that was what I was told).  I saw this new QB play twice for the Bulls and he was phenomenal.  Friday night Raines put a lot of pressure on him so he struggled most of the game. I began keeping my eye on Raines especially during the playoffs. I told some that Raines would not beat Northwestern but you would be surprised how close Raines’ talent level was to the Bulls.  The responses were not positive.  I stayed to watch the Vikings celebration.  I’m really happy for them. 4A - This game did go as I thought.  I did not see Jones play this year but I’m very familiar with the program.  I saw AHP play Archbishop McCarthy in the Regional Final.  Despite making early mistakes and taking McCarthy’s best shot the Patriots prevailed.  That night I saw an AHP that was patient, confident and did not get rattled.   5A - Nothing to say except boring. 6A - The clock struck midnight for a young and dangerous West Broward team.  West Boca Raton was dominant and West Broward looked like they had completely run out of that mojo that got them to the finals. 7A - Vero Beach fans must have outnumbered Lake Mary fans 4 to 1.  Many times during the game I heard different people say it’s going to be a long ride home if we don’t win. During the game I was in a group text that Laz was in.  If you don’t know already Laz is a big Lake Mary fan.  During the game we had to talk him off the ledge when Vero was scoring at will.  A few times Laz texted that the game was over and he was going to turn it off.  He hung in there long enough to see his beloved Rams pull off the play of the year and win their first state title.  Congratulations Laz! More random thoughts: * It was obvious Chaminade and Northwestern came into their games emotionally not ready.  Pretty sure they did not fully respect their opponents. * Would the Bulls have won with Strawder at QB?  IMO, probably.   * At the beginning of the season QB Darryon Jones was on Chaminade’s roster.  Not sure why Darryon transferred out to Venice.  He played very well for Venice.  Would the Lions have beat Cardinal Newman with him at the helm?  IMO, probably. * Please give Aquinas a quality opponent next year. * I see that Mike E left the 7A game early because of a little rain.  Just kidding, I stayed but I was soaked.  Truth be told I briefly considered leaving at about the same time Mike left in the 4th quarter.
    • Is there any possibility that you would be willing to be more specific?
    • Could better coaching decisions have put the game away earlier?
    • What are you talking about? Are you claiming that the game officials made up the penalties?
