Now what you're arguing here is separate from the issue of seeding

What your arguing is that any system for sending should have transparency and that I agree with which is why I have been publicly critical of the current fhsaa postseason rankings system as it lacks transparency and doesn't add up with the results

Wrong, we are the #3 SEED in our Region while South Lake is the #2 SEED.  Seeding by the FHSAA is extremely flawed as almost everyone on this forum agrees.  That determines home field advantage and your earlier point of a lousy team hosting if you alternate every year is moot if you followed Perspectives view which I agree with is that for the opening round games the DISTRICT CHAMP should host.   That will make that possibility minimal.   Yes, I would like transparency, but in the end if I could see how they arrived at their mistakes it wouldn't make me feel any better.

It's flawed because the system isn't doing what it claimed to do

Going further back into the past only deludes the product even more. The fhsaa thought moving away from metro suburban and returning to student enrollment as the only measure of classifications did exactly what i said it would do and look at the playoff results last week if you don't believe me. Pretty sure the average margin of victory was over 30 points for the entire state of Florida

Seeding should absolutely be earned we just need a better formula for it

I'm not taking issue with your proposal, but I do have a couple of questions.   How do you resolve these situations:

1.  OK, so you've got 6 teams in the district.  Team A beats Team B; B beats C and C beats A.  A, B and C all beat all the other teams in the district and all three teams finish 4-1 in district play. Classic three-team tie for the district title.   How do you break the tie and determine the District Champ who then goes into the playoffs while the other two teams stay home?  A three-team playoff (one quarter each)?  When does this playoff get played - the Monday before the playoffs are supposed to start?

2. If there are only 3 districts in each region, how do you set up the regional playoffs?  Does one of the three teams get a bye?  If so, how do you determine which team?

3.  Let's say District 1 has two really, really good teams and District 2 has six crappy teams.   Are you OK with the District 2 Champion going to the playoffs while the District 1 runner-up stays home because they happened to lose a close game to the eventual District 1 champion early in the season on a questionable call?

Personally, I like the idea of 6 teams in a district.   But, I'd stick with 4 districts in each region.   If that means reducing the number of classes, so be it.  The 4 district champs (using whatever formula or playoff system works best to determine the district champ in the event of ties) host the first round of the playoffs.  I don't care if everyone in the world knows that a runner-up from one district is better than the champion of another district -- if you win your district, you deserve to host at least one playoff game.  Period.  The top remaining four teams fill out the field of 8 teams in each region.  I'll leave for another time the discussion of how those remaining four (non-district champ) teams are selected, but it would likely be through some sort of power ranking.  Same system would determine the seeding of the top 4 district champs.  Yeah, I know this system looks a little familiar, but assuming you have a decent power-ranking formula, it should work.

#1.  Classic Kansas City shoot-out to break the 3 way tie.

#2. Team with best record gets a bye. In the event of a tie, head-to-head, or computer ranking.

#3.  Yep! This is how it was when I was in school.  It sucks, but life isn't fair. Ask Desoto about their 1988 team.

No more wildcards, 8 team playoffs or small districts.  Get rid of a class or two and you start having 8 and 9 team districts like when I was in school.  District runner-ups get a bowl game.

In other words reward teams who can raid local schools for talent while punishing teams in good parts of the state. What could possibly go wrong

Hey, that's how FHSAA likes it.

Yeah which is why im against it

Because that will lead to a further shift in the wrong direction

FHSAA is too worried about protecting their overpaid executives to do any real reform.  They could enact a common sense transfer policy but instead they blame the state legislature as a cop-out. The best thing is for schools to get out. Form a new league,  join SSAA,  whatever. Let the STARS and others have their own.

Not disagreeing with anything that you've said, but I'll go out on a limb with this prediction:  if enough schools start leaving the FHSAA (especially public schools and any big-name private schools), I would expect the legislature to jump in and take action.   What action?  I haven't a clue, but it would action that would reverse the trend and send the rats scurrying back onto the boat . . .  and that's not a poke at the Lakeland Dreadnoughts.   B)

They don't blame the state legislature anymore since its the same people who appointed the board now

But I agree every team should just pull out and form a new league since the state leadership is incompetent

What state leadership are you referring to?

This below is what I'm referring to and the fhsaa has made nothing but bad decisions ever since this

If only people on the boards and on Twitter would read the site once in a while

Ever since this was passed the fhsaa started acting In the interest of the morons in Tallahassee who don't know anything about athletics and stopped acting in the interests of those actually involved with athletics

Imagine that. 2 teams with a combined record of 18-2 and both ranked in the top 5 of their class not in the playoffs.

nowadays you have 2-3 districts where you can go 0-10 or 1-9 and make the playoffs.

can someone abolish the FHSAA please?

I hope that you see that I am not the only poster who talks about politics on the message board. I expect equal treatment since my political posts have been deleted. Thank you.

Maybe you should read the rules a bit closer

No talking politics at all on the forums unless it is placed under the Off Topic Board. If you post in a thread that is one subject and then you start talking politics, it will be locked and/or deleted, no questions asked by the administrators or board mods. The only exception to this rule will be if talking politics relates to something going on with high school football or high school sports in general -- like a bill that is being heard or passed in a state, for example.

that bill being referenced by an article written by Joshua is specific to sports in Florida and if we want to start talking bout rules I can quote MANY of your posts where you are extremely disrespectful to MULTIPLE members of the board which violates multiple rules on this board

All of these are rule violations but sure have fun talking about me breaking the rules :D

Much to the dismay of many posters to this message board, and like my role model, the great 45th and 47th President Donald Trump, great men cannot be kept down! After a year of inactivity, I have decided that the many posters to this message board, even though most do not deserve it, will receive the honor and privilege or my brilliance, logic, reason, and overall great knowledge of high school officiating! I have educated, informed, taught lessons, and inspired many, and the like the great American and inspiration, President Donald Trump, I will not be denied! I don't care what any poster has to say, and I will hold any poster accountable on the subject of high school officiating. You're welcome, and the honor and privilege is all yours!

Many posters to this message board hate me with a passion and wish that I was physically harmed because I have patiently tried to explain how high school officiating works, and what high school officials are looking for and tasked with providing during a game. Also, I do not share the same political beliefs as the majority of posters to this message board (even though the majority of Americans share my beliefs as was proven on November 5th), so they have gotten me banned for a while, and try to run me off by insulting me (which I consider a compliment) and questioning my very existence. I am the most hated poster to the FloridaHSFootball message board!

I think there is actually. The downside is that it should make it where they can't see your posts either once you put someone down as "ignored"

Anyway, there's a couple of good games in PBC tomorrow night for the FIT. Royal Palm Beach @ Doc Garcia and Fort Pierce Westwood @ Palm Beach Gardens. We're (and @MarkECannon) hitting the game at PBG, since we haven't seen Westwood play this year. I saw PGB against Dwyer earlier, but both teams have freewheeling quarterbacks with good arms and some good skill guys to throw to. Both should be really competitive games.

    • If this is true, it's sad.   This is not what high school football should be about.
    • Vero will be down a little from last season, they lost a lot from that team, but it should still be a good game.
    • "Listen here, y'all... back in '72 runnin' Overtown streets, we ain't had no transfer portal. You repped your hood school or sat the bench. Coach look at you cross-eyed for even dreamin' 'bout switchin' for better lights. Noimsayin?   Now fast forward, and Coach Toro Wallace—dude was slicin' defenses at Chaminade-Madonna like butter last year—takes the helm at Miami Carol City. Respect the move. But word? Damn near 40 kids floodin' in already? Forty? That's a charter bus unloadin' helmets and egos every mornin'! Got elite 5-star ATH Nick Lennear (boy catch anything not nailed down) as the centerpiece, young QB Malik Leonard jumpin' from Chaminade right behind his old OC, more 4-stars pilin' up. Man, it's greed and gluttony straight outta that sin-eatin' movie scene.   And don't sleep on the Bradenton/Venice side: Venice HS just snagged 2028 QB Noah Patton—6'3" backup from IMG's national squad—headin' there for junior year. Boy got the arm and frame, leavin' the Ascenders for them Indians. Then Manatee Hurricanes pull in 2029 QB Nolan Downes from IMG's junior team—freshman already got offers from Howard, Toledo, UNLV, Sac State. These locals stealin' back from the big prep farm right up the road. Like dat time I tried to 'steal' a win at jai alai... ended up lighter, but the hope was real.   Reminds me of dat one dancer I chased back in '05—looked real good dancin', spent my whole weekend change on her... next mornin' she ghosted, sayin' the IRS took most her weekly check for back taxes, so she needed 'extra' just to make rent. Whew. All flash, no guarantee. Same vibe here: stack talent, chase the shine, but when Open Division hits in '26 and yank 'em into that top-8 meat grinder? Packin' gear after openin'-round whoopin'. I'd bet my last Publix paycheck on it... wait, nah, three Karens today returned the same wilted lettuce claimin' it 'tastes funny' (lady, it's wilted 'cause you squeezed it like stress ball). Bookie got the rest anyway.   Love me some Florida high school ball more than a cold one after shift. But this transfer madness? Hilarious in that 'I told you so' Ron White way. Y'all think Venice/Manatee reloadin' smart off IMG scraps, Carol City buyin' a title ticket that busts, or what? Popcorn hot. Spot me $20 on any of 'em makin' noise... or not. Hit me back."
    • Yessir I would love for us to play a OOS opponent in the Broward vs USA,  dillard got in alot of talent and will be Huge in da trenches this upcoming season. And most of all our SOS. those 3 games alone can possibly have us the #1 in 3A especially since we were 10-0 last year and finished the 3 seed
