Kathleen (4-3) (2-0 - District)

Pretty much throw the records out with this game. Winner takes the district championship. This could also be a preview of round 1 of the playoffs. Kathleen started the season slowly, but has won 4 out of their last 5 games. Lakeland has been rolling this season with quality wins over Apopka & East Lake (Before all of their forfeits).

Last 4 meetings have been split 2-2.

No disrespect to Kathleen, but, if Lakeland wants to prove how good they are this year, this game cannot be close. Lakeland has had a tendency in year's past to play down to their opponent in these 'Rivalry' games. Kathleen, like always, has a very strong defense. So, I'm not expecting a repeat of the Winter Haven Game (55-7). But, if Lakeland wants to be mentioned with the elites, they have to control this game.

One positive for Lakeland is the defense. This was supposed to be their weakness this season losing 10 starters from last year's team. But, they have been good from game one. Kathleen had a few big plays last night, but Lakeland really controlled that side of the ball all night. They had Kathleen in long yardage situations all night from sacks and tackles for loss. The one big play Kathleen had was a 50+ yard run, down to the 1 yard line. Lakeland forced them to kick a field goal after backing them up with tackles behind the line.

I think the offense will be ok. They have just had a couple of games where the QB and WR's are a little off, along with a couple of dropped scoring passes. And when you have a RB that has the potential to take it the distance on every play, I think they be ok.

They have 2 weeks now to prepare for whoever their first round opponent will be and get a few key O-Line starters back from injury.
