Takes a lot of data crunching to come up with this list and helps me validate reason for joining this forum to draw attention to the OHS Kowboy football program for the past 26 years being in the TOP 30.  Quite a feat while not in the elite class with the obvious top 10-15 teams.  KOWBOY PROUD!!

Ray, curious how you feel about Kowboys' new district -- Auburndale, Bartow, Lake Gibson, Sebring, AND Lakeland?

Our HC most likely is fine with it from a scheduling standpoint as he always wants challenging games and in the previous district the past couple of years he has had to really work to find those.  Very similar to our district in the 2005 thru 2007 or so years.   Now he will only have to find 4 additional opponents as St. Cloud is a given as opposed to finding 7 others.  We feel most years we can compete with the best as is reflected in the stats put out by Laz.  Obviously, Lakeland will be the biggest hurdle in this 6 team district and I am sure Nulli feels the same way about us.

Thanks, always appreciate your honest, objective analysis.  5A Region 2 is not very strong, and will run through Lakeland, Osceola, and possibly Tampa Gaither.  But 5A as a whole is very solid, so should make for some interesting matchups come playoff time.

Who spells Kowboys with a 'K'?  Osceola !  Bring it!  All fun, no disrespect.  Having the neighboring Kowboys on the schedule is never a bad thing especially as of late.  Can't go wrong when these programs line up.  Until further notice, this district is wide open with Lakeland, Osceola and potentially A-dale being the front runners.  2026 will tell the tale.

Nulli Secundus, how did you feel about the offensive performance of the Lakeland Dreadnaughts in two straight State Championship Games against STA?

Lol, how many months to the all star break is there again?

I understand looking to the future feels better than that butt kicking you received last night.

Since I live in S Florida I get the Panthers broadcast .  You should have heard them whine and moan about how Tampa Bay was bullying the Cats.

Highly indicative. I haven't been impressed the last two years with Lakeland's offense.  It's not for lack of personnel but to borrow a little basketball terminology, it appeared that Lakeland was playing pickup ball, lol.  It worked against a lot of teams.  However, STA was quick to exploit that deficiency whereas others could not.  To put it in perspective, Riverdale was able to score 13 points.  That should tell you something.

Man, hold up... you out here tryna sneak-diss Lakeland's offense by pointin' at that Riverdale game like STA "exploited a deficiency" and Riverdale still dropped 13, so Lakeland gettin' shut out 29-0 in the title game must mean they offense trash? Boy, sit down with that weak sauce. That dog ain't even barkin', noimsayin'? First off, yeah, STA boat-raced Riverdale 45-13 in the semis – but it was 38-0 at the half, runnin' clock the whole second half, starters pullin' out early 'cause they already had one eye on that championship ring against y'all Dreadnaughts. They was subbin' deep, savin' legs, playin' prevent – them 13 points Riverdale got was pure garbage time against the JV squad. And don't forget, Riverdale was rollin' without they startin' QB Theo Harris, dude hurt the week before. Backup out there lookin' lost against that STA defense? That's like me at the Publix counter dealin' with a Karen who done lost her coupons – ain't no winnin' that battle. Now flip to the title game: full strength Lakeland, best y'all been all year, against a STA team locked in from whistle to whistle. No runnin' clock, no pullin' starters early – them boys played all four quarters hungry, threw five field goals and punched in TDs late when it mattered. Lakeland hung tough on D for a long time, but that STA defense? Man, they swarmin' like mosquitoes at a backyard BBQ in July. Y'all couldn't get nothin' goin', and that's credit to them Raiders bein' the dynasty they are – seventh straight ring, national champs type stuff.Tryna compare a blowout semi with subs and a missin' QB to a championship shutout? That's like me gamblin' my whole check on a heavyweight fight, thinkin' the champ gonna go easy in an exhibition sparrin' session. Nah, son. When the lights brightest, STA showed up and handled business. Lakeland a proud program, always gon' be, but don't twist scores to shade 'em – tell the whole story or keep it quiet. Feel me? <_<

We did at one point, but they held the upper hand most of the time though most games were competitive bar a couple.

The year prior (2006) we clung to a 3-0 lead at home during the regular season before Chris Rainey ripped off a 70 or so yard run late in the 4th quarter to seal the deal 7-3 in Lakeland's favor.  That is when Lake Gibson was rolling and they also beat us at their place to keep us out of the playoffs which we would have qualified for under current format of seeding.  That district had some of the best running backs in the state with Rainey, Bilal Powell and "Bubba" Brown in no particular order.  Also the year (2006) Lakeland not only was state champ, but National Champ.

Man, I’m back from ringin’ in the New Year—store closed early, so I actually got to watch the ball drop without somebody askin’ me if the rotisserie chicken still good at 11:57 p.m.—and I see Jambun82 still stirrin’ the pot, sayin’ I remind him of that old FlaVarsity poster.
I read that and just leaned back in my recliner, cracked a cold one (the cheap kind, ‘cause my bookie still got most of my Christmas bonus), and let out a slow chuckle.
See, the beauty of them old boards was the mystery. Neutral Observer never confirmed nothin’, never denied nothin’. Folks spent years playin’ Sherlock—was he wavebb on the weekends? Silver King with a second account? Both of ‘em tag-teamin’ from the same IP at the library? Hell, half the fun was watchin’ grown men create whole conspiracy threads, complete with timelines and “slaps” and morphs runnin’ wild like it was pro wrestlin’.
And when he finally logged off—after months of droppin’ truth bombs about how the private school factories and the recruiting circus was suckin’ the soul outta Florida high school football—he didn’t leave a note. Didn’t say “I’m done.” Didn’t wave goodbye. Just vanished like smoke after a Friday night bonfire. Left everybody leanin’ forward in they computer chairs goin’ “wait… what?”
That’s power right there.
So Jambun, my man… I ain’t gon’ help you solve the puzzle. I ain’t gon’ deny it, and I damn sure ain’t gon’ confirm it. All I’ll say is this: the game still needs voices that’ll call it straight—talk about the real rivalries, the kids playin’ for pride instead of stars, the little charter schools that fold quicker than a bad poker hand, and yeah, the big-money machines that keep changin’ the rules.
If my posts got a little of that old FlaVarsity flavor driftin’ through ‘em—the stories, the dry shots, the “I done seen some things” energy—then maybe that spirit just found a new apron to hide behind while I slice Boar’s Head and wait for kickoff season.
Or maybe I’m just a deli man who loves the game too much and got too many regrets with women named after cocktails.
Y’all keep guessin’. I’ll keep postin’.And when the day come that I decide to log off for good? Trust me… you won’t get a goodbye thread neither.
Happy New Year, fellas. Football season only eight months away. Stay dangerous… and keep them morphs comin’.

We out.

    • Just sitting here waiting patiently for Florida schools schedules more so Miami but we all know they slow down here
    • When I think of top 5 , top 10 i think of consistency. Dillard is consistent playoff team year in and year out, making it further some years then others. And thats without a mass of transfers like a miami central, northwestern, west boca, or last year mcarthur and west broward.  right now In broward my rankings would be  #1 ST THOMAS  #2. AMERICAN HERITAGE  #3. CHAMINADE  #4. ARCHBISHOP MCCARTHY #5. DILLARD  #6. MONARCH  west broward and mcarthur both lost over 20 transfers and coaches within the last 2 months. Players are transferring out left and right so its yet to be seen if they can even be .500 next season. Outside of that Who else ? Plantation aka the "Young gate jumpers" as they were called down here had a team full of transfers last year due to their assistant coach darel Strong who has strong ties in the optimist circle.  Well since plantation beat dillard in round 1 last season, not only did they lose that assistant coach to cypress bay, they also lost his brother who the colonels head coach, he left and followed his brother to cypress bay and hes now the head coach of the cypress Bay lightning.  On top of all that in the last 4 weeks plantation has self imploded losing 8 players to carol city, 4 to Columbus & 15 to players to cypress bay to follow their coaches.  So again Who else is it ? That without a doubt can be placed above or before dillard in broward outside of the Top 4 private schools ??
    • Most definitely dillard not only was dillard top 5 in points per game and top 5 in opponents points per game in the state, dillard also over the last 3 years have a record of (27-8) a playoff berth in every season this decade, multiple 2nd round or further playoff appearancs. In two appearances in the broward vs usa classic dillard is (2-0) "Both games" we were the underdogs. Especially against dr phillips last year who was just in the state semi finals the year prior. And made it to the regional finals last year.  Dillard was also ranked top 5 in broward every all of last year. By sunsentinal, Larry bluestin & they were also Top 10 in the miami Herald all of last year.  No our schedule wasnt the toughest and yes we lost a close playoff game to a heated rival in round 1 last year, but do that mean dillard isn't Top 7 in broward absolutely NOT.  ESPECIALLY compared to fly by night programs who are faithfully doormats in florida football in west broward and mcarthur. Two teams who got a wave of transfers last year to help a team who barely won 4 games the year before. Hell in mcarthur case they were (1-9) in 2024 b4 the transfers came in & like clockwork they all transfered right back out this season.
