I thought it was split 40/40 with fhsaa getting 20

FHSAA shall receive 25 percent of gate receipts or the total net profit after host expenses, whichever is less. The amount remaining after host expenses and FHSAA share are paid are to be divided 55 percent to the host school and 45 percent to the visiting school(s).

Round 1 games cost $8.  If you have 1500 people there that is $12k after expenses probably 10k.   If the gate after expenses is 10k.  Fhsaa gets 2500 Home team gets 4125 Away team gets 3375.   That is not a lot of money for the road team and 1500 is a decent crowd for a lot of people.  Home team also gets all concession and parking which at games well attended can be big.

On a side note A few years ago we played in a road game that was well attended and got paid 18K as the away team.

You all have to come to a Vero Beach home game. Friday it was standing room only as usual.  Olympia had a very small group of followers. But every Vero home game is a capacity crowd. Even our away games we usually have a bigger traveling crowd than the home team that we play has. Our band is one of the largest bands (if not the largest) in the state of Florida and attracts its own crowd to add to the overall crowd.

Very simply, Vero loves their football !!!!

This is no lie!  Viera preseason game was incredible at Vero Beach. Most impressive atmosphere I have witnessed in years. Takes me back to everyone 's games in the 70"s.  They do it right in Vero!

Thanks for clearing that up badbird.  Actually after my last post on this I went and spoke with a school administrator I know and got the explanation you gave.

Cocoa vs Viera draws a very large crowd.

Cocoa vs Palm Bay draws a big crowd.

Cocoa vs Rockledge draws a very big crowd.

Cocoa vs Trinity Jax is a very large crowd.

Cocoa vs Booker T Washington draws a Max crowd.

Big crowd on Cocoa side (2500) Standing room only (3000) and full stands (1000) on visitors side.

This year it was standing room only for Viera, and Pahokee, on the Cocoa side with large crowds on the visitors side, and Standing room only at Rockledge with a pack visitor side for Cocoa.

Cocoa averages around 2000 to 3000 per game, and 3000 to 5000 vs rivals.

1a should be held at Tiger Stadium

We can hold over 8k people and it's almost dead center on travel for teams in 1a

I disagree. Pahokee fans travel well and tailgate well at Championship games. The big stadiums are just fine on our side. Also, for a lot of the kids, it will be their only time to play in a major stadium in their lives. I agree with maybe changing the schedules around so that all can have a little prime time, but leave the venue alone.

Viera vs Gaither, probably full.  Viera side packed and very impressed with Gaither bringing 3 charter buses, their side looked good,  Unfortunately their coach said some things in the Tampa news about Viera that got out on twiiter, which proceeded to get posted in locker room, which proceeded to an early Viera no nonsense win.

Probabably 4,000

The best game I have ever witnessed from a crowd point of view was the Cocoa vs Trinity game in Kentucky.

Coolest vibe, fans tailgating, standing room only in a stadium that has to hold close to 10k.

Both sides were packed to over flowing... It was also a great game. Had Alex, the 8th grade kicker for Cocoa not sustained a broken leg in the game, I honestly believe Cocoa would have won. Cocoa missed 3 extra points and that was the margin Cocoa lost by.

BTW, Alex Petruzzello was kicking 60 yard FG's a half time at the Rockledge game as entertainment. He made 3 from 50 yards and 2 of 3 from 60 yards. He is only a Jr.

Cocoa vs Bishop Gorman was around 10,000.

Cocoa vs Skyline Tx was over 40,000.

Cocoa vs Abliene Tx was over 20,000.

Cocoa vs Colerain was over 10,000.

Cocoa vs Trinity Ky was over 8,000.

Cocoa vs West Monroe La was over 7,000.

Cocoa vs Booker T Washington were around 4,000 to 5,000.

Have old photos and newspaper clippings of my dad playing in Philly's city title game at Franklin Field in 1941 - newspapers state 40K+ at the game, and photos show near capacity.  Game ends at 0-0.

But this next story with photos about 120,000 at Soldier Field Chicago for a HS game is just something else > http://www.leoalumni.org/the-big-game/

You can't give Prime time to all 8 classes unless you split it into different venues

Otherwise you have to play it over 8 days which is crazy logistically

I saw Miami/Palmetto on Thursday. Decent crowd on both sides. If I had to guess I'd have to say 1,000-1,500.

Friday I went up to Western/Deerfield. DB's side was pitiful, I don't care if it was raining. Not many ppl there for them. Western's side was okay. Kinda long trip, rain. If there were 750 ppl I'd be shocked.

I worked as a sports reporter in Texas for 2-1/2 years. The talent in FL is equal to TX, but the passion/resources is unmatched there. small school games get you 3-4k at minimum. Big school games get you 10k plus. Very different.

Doesn't really have to be primetime. But those 10am games are not good.

I have a idea

Since 1-4a have one less week of playoffs they can do this

Wendsday

1a:  4:00 pm ~

3a:  8:00 pm ~

Thursday

2a  4:00pm ~

4a  8:00pm~

Friday

5a  4:00pm~

7a  8:00pm~

Saturday

6a  4:00pm~

8a  8:00pm~

Since 1-4a play one less round then 5-8a they aren't getting a short week by putting them on Wednesday and Thursday

If needed they can expand time between games but this basic idea and gets rid of morning games

And they can flip the times each year

So 1 year

1a, 2a, 5a, and 6a get night game

Next year

3a, 4a, 7a, and 8a get night game

The reality is that state championships should be allowed to be on Sunday. People should not have to take off work to see their school, classmates, and family play in a state championship.

Thursday 8 pm (1A)
Friday 4 pm (2A) and 8 pm (6A)
Saturday 12pm (3A) , 4 pm(5A) , 8 pm (7A)
Sunday 4 pm (4A) and 8 pm (8A) (use the schools that are closest to state final to play Sunday at 8pm)

    • I was actually itching to treat some wager some money on some sports matches that are happening above-board now. I wanted to let you guys identify that I did spot what I ruminate on to be the kindest site in the USA. If you fall short of to get in on the spirit, check it out-moded: https://pokeronline.guru/online-gambling/
    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
