Vero Beach vs Riverview

I believe this is an upset. Vero would have definitely given DP a game like last year.

DP beat Riverview 21-0 last year in round 2. Riverview was averaging 40 ppg going in. Have they seen a defense like DP's in SW Florida? I'd guess Venice, and they shut them out.

Someone give me the details on Riverview. I remember they had a good QB last year.

They won't out-athlete DP.

Venice is a great team, but I don't think their D is as good as DrPs.   Not saying I'd take DrP over Venice, but as far as D's go...

Using last year as a gauge of Riverview is disingenuous, they are a vastly improved team and playing a far tougher schedule.

To give you some perspective of their improvement, here are the scores of their games vs their district opponents this year vs last year

                                   2017                                                   2016

Alonso                     W 44-0                                               W 49-20

Palm Harbor U.      W 47-7                                               L 27-38

Steinbrenner           W 61-0                                              W 20-19

Newsome               W 57-3                                              W 41-0

Manatee                  W 42-14                                           W 37-33

Riverview                W 41-0                                              W 30-6

They play in one of the weaker districts in the Tampa Bay area, and last year they didn't play a single decent non-district opponent, however this year they added Venice, Braden River, and Palmetto to the schedule, and now Vero Beach on the road, so they are far more tested this year heading into their DP matchup

The difference this year is that Riverview has more experienced players and a slew of transfers. They got 2 brothers from LWR that are both starters, the QB transferred to Riverview from Booker, they have a defensive transfer from Sarasota, and they also have the younger brother of the starting QB that starts at CB. That is the major difference this year. Same coaching staff for the most part. And for the record, Venice would win the state championship in 8A if they played in it.
