Let’s keep all the Hockey talk in this thread please

Since both teams's seasons are now over, I have a feeling that this message board thread will not be very long. However, since I know how much of an honor and privilege is is for MarkECannon to interact with me on the message board, maybe the thread will be extended!

Hey i always root for Florida team winning championships! Doesn’t matter what sport. I root for the Florida team all the time. I’m a die hard Florida State fan but wanted Miami to beat Indiana. I wanted Florida to win back with Tebow and Leak against Ohio State and Oklahoma.

I start in Tampa and work outward. Lol. When the Lightning and Panthers play of course I want the Lightning to win. Same with the Rays over Marlins. But I will always want the Panthers and Marlins to beat any non Florida team

Jambun and myself have been going after each other for years.  It doesn’t really matter what the subject is we just went after each other.  I agree that we should keep it related to high school football on the board.  I was enjoying interacting with Jambun and forgot this.

With that said the Panthers sucked this year!

For some reason, I'm reminded of that kid we all know . . . you know, the one who played for a rival high school that doesn't win a single one of their district games, but who immediately starts talking smack when the playoffs start and revels in delight when your team ultimately loses a nail-biter to a really good team in the playoffs.

Hockey great Wayne Gretzky is often credited with the quote:  "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."  Along those same lines, I'm pretty sure "You don't win 100% of the playoff games you don't play in because you didn't make the playoffs."

Thank you for the very nice compliment, Perspective!

Like I said before, you are very welcome for that honor and privilege, MarkECannon!

Hey Nolebull,

With neither the Panthers nor the Lightning alive in the playoffs the hockey talk has died a natural death lol

I’m sure there will be a time that Jambun won’t have posted in a while, and the only way to summon him is to talk smack about some referees or the Florida Panthers, and the safest route to not get your life ended prematurely is to veer towards making fun of the Panthers

Yes nolebull813, I know, like all the others, what an honor and privilege it is for you to talk with me! You're welcome for that honor and privilege!

If you have to positively reassure me that it’s an honor and privilege, then I’m not sure if it’s an honor and privilege.

A king doesn’t have to tell people he’s the king ;)

How to make a political statement in a post without making a political statement in a post.   B)

Thank you. I like how we don’t have a king here to coerce companies that espouse differing viewpoints than the royal family to be censored. Or how we are able to stay gainfully employed even if we decide not to adhere to the monarchy’s voluntarily mandatory scientific injections.

So glad we did away with that monarchy from 2.5 years…..errrr I mean 250 years ago ;)

Great points nolebull813. I believe that you and I are in the "minority" of viewpoints concerning this particular subject/topic on this message board!

All this passive aggressive political talk.  It’s much more entertaining than hockey talk.

Of course, anytime that the name "Jambun82" is involved, it is guaranteed there will be entertaining talk!

    • Same thing my cousin A-Town on here said about Spanish River....
    • I'll play devil's advocate just a little.   As soon as you inject the "human element," you create a risk of bias.  It happens at all levels.   In college football, coaches and sportswriters from the south tend to vote for teams from the south while coaches and sportswriters from the midwest tend to vote for the teams from the midwest.   To a certain extent, it's natural.  I can see the same thing happening at the high school level if you involve coaches, writers, web hosts, etc.  I understand the argument in favor of inserting a little humanity into the process, but that will undoubtedly create a possibility of bias for and against teams based on nothing more than where the teams are located.
    • I totally agree with you 100 percent. Human element is needed. I have yet to see a computer watch a football game.
    • Would like to think that pride, integrity, character, honor would prevent the scenario you describe, but this is high school football in Florida.  The Week 11 non-district games would be a perfect time to “rest” some key players (“load management” as they call it in the NBA), heal up “injuries”, or give the back-ups some playing time. The bigger issue is that it is extremely unlikely that MaxPreps will identify the “best” 8 teams in the state.  MaxPreps is excellent at ranking teams at the end of the post-season, but not as reliable at the end of the regular season.  And why do MaxPreps rankings differ from the FHSAA Power Rankings, the LAZ index, Joshua Wilson’s FPRI, etc (no disrespect to the latter two)?  Which one is the most accurate?  Without a human element included in the selection process, MaxPreps will identify 8 teams that look the best to their particular variables, weighting, and formula, but this biased process will not guarantee the intent of the Open Division is met – identifying the best of the best.
    • what happens if, your 8-0, district title is secured, your lingering around the 6,7,8 spot in state max preps rankings.  however, you know, your not going to run the gambit of west boca, chaminade, venice, st thomas, columbus, miami central, etc, etc, etc.  and,,,,, coach dumps last 2 weeks of season, 8-2 and fall out of max preps top 8.  and run the table in your playoff division.... is it better to be 8th ranked in max preps and lose at some point in that bracket or  10th ranked and roll thru your division to a state title?  is the class 3405-A,  state champ better than 2nd round loss in open division  someone does this, i can promise it.
