21-16 final

I had MNW points spot on but armwood scored 9 more points then i picked

Got to watch second half and i will say this

1) qb for MNW is going to be good at college level

2) armwood qb is solid and while Snead was injured for the amount i watched with some work he will be successful college back

3) both defenses were good but MNW was overall better than armwood as a team

4) big plays for MNW were deciding factor

5) better team won this game

Good game and congrats to MNW on winning 6a

I picked them number 2 in state and 1 in 6a in preseason and i think they may very well finish that way

To me Atwell was the difference on offense between MNW and Armwood. Armwood's QB is a good athlete but average QB. Atwell is a very good athlete and high school QB. Film does not do justice to his speed and accuracy. Also, Armwood's guards were having trouble all night with the MNW D'Line. This contributed to Armwood's QB problems

Most dangerous offensive player in the state IMO.

Once you tackle him you have to make sure he is down. His balance is incredible and if he stays on his feet, he is gone. Also for a relatively small QB, he has a strong arm and very good accuracy.

Several  smaller stature QBs have displayed cannon arms this year...Raines QB, Champagant QB, and of course Atwell all stood out to me.

Champagant  Catholic QB Desaun Kearse was the "backup" QB at Flanagan last year which some felt was controversial...

Armwood could have easily won this game but for stupid missed tackles on a freak run

But props to Da West.  And the difference in this game was Armwood"s inability to pick up the NW rush scheme. They barely left anyone in to block on passing downs leaving Black to run for his life (which he did ok at).

MNW looked to dominate armwood OL for the amount of game i watched which for most part held armwood offense shut down

Also MNW was able to run ball better (even though most yards came on 1 play)

What was the deal with armwood taking cheap shots like the one Snead did?

and mnw took some as well on the sidelines

Only one i saw was called which didn't look bad to me

MNW spun armwood around out of bounds but MNW guy didn't knock him down,  i probably wouldn't have called it

Then again i only got to watch 2nd half so anything in first half i missed

I don’t think Armwood could of win that game last night easy.. If the qb for Armwood didn’t make some good plays with his feet , it wouldn’t been close.. I think MNW could of passen more on Armwood cause they had a advantage in that.. Especially the slot.. But that num 8 for Armwood is the truth!!

I did see that on a kickoff (or punt) they flagged MNW for tapping armwood but guys filming it (who were clearly pro armwood) instead showed armwood shoving MNW way after whistle which wasn't called then they tried to downplay it

Yea they were pro Armwood..

NW coaches made it closer than it was along with the refs... If NW keeping giving 34 the ball instead of 4 they win easily.. Atwell 150 soaking wet why call a qb sneak with him on 4th and short? This game could've easily been 28 to 9 at very least... But hey the west still pulled it off. Armwood was holding like crazy all night!

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
