Quiz-Teams with Greatest Sustained Success

A number of teams have had fantastic success in recent years.  But relatively few teams have been able to sustain high levels of success for the past 40 years.  In fact, only 2 teams have been good enough to reach the state finals each of the past five decades, including our present decade.

Who are those 2 teams?

Lakeland hasn't been to the finals in a while but consecutive winning seasons and playoffs, I can't remember when they last had a losing record.  Probably early 70's.

It is Carol City and Pahokee!  Dan is the Man! 

One could say that Carol City is king of the upper classes and Pahokee is king of the lower classes in terms of program longevity/sustained success.

Carol City state final appearances 1976, 1977(won), 1989, 1996(won), 1997(won), 2003(won), 2016(won) - Except for their 2016 title game, all of their other appearances were in Florida's largest class at the time.

Pahokee state final appearances 1976, 1989(won), 1998, 2003(won), 2004(won), 2005, 2006(won), 2007(won), 2008(won), 2016(won)

Bill Castle became coach in the late 70's and Lakeland became a power in the 80's.

Thanks to NoleBull, I've been doing some history research using old newspaper.  Lakeland has one of the oldest programs in the state and was a powerhouse all the way back in the 1920's and 1930's.  In fact, I'm hard pressed to find a year that they weren't good.

Don't count them out, Lakeland always is a contender for the title.  They win it this year or next and they meet the the criteria.  Also they haven't had down seasons like the others.

Lakeland did not make a title appearance in the 70's.  The criteria I specified was title appearances in the 70's, 80's, 90's 00's, and present decade.
