Ryan was a solid UCF QB back in the day. Hopefully, Cocoa won't miss a beat.

What types of formations, on both offense and defense, do you think Coach Schneider will run that is different than what Coach Wilkerson had in place? Outside of what was stated in this article? Is there anything major that might be implemented and will this be positive or negative? It's hard for me to believe that a new coach coming in cold, and replacing a legendary type coach, would not have some negative aspects with any team.

I think he will run a more balanced offense consistently. Aside from that, I don't know. Ryan S was a good footballer, and has solid coaching experience. For that reason, I feel that there will be no drop off in Cocoa under him.

Seems like the defense will be about the same and the offense will be a no huddle spread. So Cocoa will be like Ucf maybe

What kind of offense was Cocoa running last season and will the no huddle spread be a big change for the players? Since Cocoa has always done well with the offense they ran and formations they were used to, will their opponents be able to take more of an advantage in the first season when the offense is adjusting?  What will the learning curve be?

Cocoa will have the same type of athletes as before. The question shouldnt be about X's and O's but about effort. The former teams at Cocoa played with great effort. Effort was and always will be the difference maker. When you take over a program that already has those intangible attributes instilled in each player you have to continue that process that separates them from other programs with the same type of athletes. In my opinion, that is priority over anything else in the continued success of the Cocoa football team.

The way their off season is going it looks like the players are putting in just as much work if not more. The tradition will definitely continue

Cocoa moved to a more spread oriented offense last season and little bit the year before. So the only big difference really is the no huddle speed spread. Just think of UCF under Scott Frost and USF under Willie Taggart. That's how I see Cocoa's offense being. So they should put up big numbers and spread teams out well with their speed but will still run it down their throats.

How I would always describe it was a running version of the air raid offense. At least that's how it was in the latter half of Coach Wilk's career at Cocoa.

Cocoa has had several defensive coordinators in the last 10 years. I know Wilks brought Bobby Holloway to Cocoa and pretty much started the Darkside Defense, then they brought in a new DC and the defense became the Dirty Thirty. Cocoa prides itself on defense, so I'm sure they will follow suit in that way. Cocoa sent a lot of athletes to college from the defense. Only a few teams have put more that 3 or 4 TD's on Cocoa and those teams were always top 25 teams in the nation. Also, I'm not so sure any coaches left from the defensive side.

I'm looking forward to this season.

I'll defer to the Tiger homers for their positive opinions and continued success with the new guy. Wilkinson, like Odom before him, were special coaches who got the most out of what they had playing simple hard nosed ball. With free agency now the law of the land does Coach Schneider receive his share of Brevard athletes coming into the program from outside the school's fertile neighborhoods ?  Like always, I wish them the best. Call me "cautiously optimistic" for Cocoa to maintain it's elite status.
