I think we have a Dade County sweep this weekend..

Carol City vs AHP

Miami Central vs Gibbons

Da West vs Miramar

Booker T vs Dillard

Norland vs Piper

Pace vs Boyd Anderson

or atleast 5-1

This would have been a perfect event to run so people could come watch all of them and not have to pick and choose and have crowds split up across multiple games

Agreed.   I don't think Broward is down, but the match ups just have me favoring Dade.

Looks like Zoe Boy was right on, with Miami-Dade going 5-1.  One more touchdown for Norland and it would have been 6-0.

Like Chaminade, I am not yet sold on Cardinal Gibbons..at least not in matchups against big, physical Dade teams. Gibbons' close games against Heritage last year were impressive, but they do not have much to brag about in terms of "quality" wins.

Last season, Gibbons played non-district games against Southridge(6-4) Douglas(6-4), Hollywood Hills(2-7), Dillard(6-5), AH Delray (5-5).  In 2016, they played non-district games against Plantation(2-8), Everglades (2-8), Chaminade-Madonna (10-5), Deerfield Beach (10-3)  Those teams had a combined record of 49-49.

I don't see Broward teams getting the best of Miami-Dade teams anytime soon.   Despite the talent of Broward becoming concentrated in fewer schools, I just don't see anyone other than St Thomas being able to compete with a Central, Northwestern and Carol City year-in and year-out.  Those Dade teams are just nasty and the kids have an edge.

I read a comment from the DB vs Chaminade game that DB was much bigger and deeper.  ...just like the comments I heard last year when Chaminade got beat by Central.  Unless things change, I don't see the private schools (except for St Thomas) having the depth to hang in there for a whole game against someone like Central or Northwestern.

It's going to take a school with more depth, and the only one with a chance in the near future might be a Miramar or a Deerfield Beach.

How many gamebreaking playmakers from Broward County schools, not including ST Thomas Aquinas and American Heritage, can you name since Tyrone Moss was at Ely?

Dominate player, I'm not easily impressed by players at small schools but this kid is a beast

He will succeed at Notre Dame

I asked the question about playmakers since Tyrone Moss because...back in the days of Moss and before, Broward public schools like Dillard and Ely produced some big-time players who could make the difference in a big game.  Dillard had some incredible backs in the late 80's and those teams could take on any of the Dade powers of the day.  Over the past 15 years,  something has changed.  St Thomas has produced some amazing athletes and most recently AHP, but beyond them, I'm not seeing those 4/5 star offensive players on a Broward team capable of taking on the Dade powers.

To beat the best of Dade, I think it takes a big, nasty team with a fantastic back like a Moss or Antone Smith.
