Dade vs Broward weekend

Below are historical playoff records of some Miami-Dade teams vs Broward.  When classes 7A and 8A were created, it eliminated certain Broward teams from the playoff paths of the 6A Dade schools.  It would have been interesting to see the Dade powers to play against these Broward teams...Miramar in 2011, Cypress Bay in 2012, Flanagan in 2015.

Cypress Bay's program had the school size and coach to have given the Dade powers problems had that program taken off and stayed in the same class.  Mark Guandolo coached in Dade (Southridge and Pace) and if he had the talent, could beat them or at least challenged.

Carol City 14-7 vs Broward in playoffs-lost to Dillard in 2013, Miramar in 2008, S Plantation in 2006, Everglades in 2005, Dillard in 2001, Plantation in 2000 and 1999

Central 8-4 vs Broward in playoffs-lost to Miramar in 2009, Plantation in 2002, Dillard in 2001, Hollywood Hills in 1972

Northwestern 8-2 vs Broward in playoffs-lost to Hallandale 2015, Deerfield Beach 2005

Norland 5-3 vs Broward in playoffs-lost to Cypress Bay 2007, McArthur 2003, McArthur 2000

Booker T 6-0 vs Broward in playoffs

That 2001 Dillard team was special but we came up just short of the title smh

Is this public only?  Didn't Aquinas play BTW in the playoffs before?  Maybe I'm mistaken.  Thought they played in the playoffs early 2000s, but it was regular season.

Personally I think when it comes to the publics there is simply more of an inclination to go private in Broward that isn't there in Dade.   How often is Columbus more talented than Central, MNW etc?   Central, MNW, and CC are established powers that seem to continue out throughout the years.   In Broward you don't normally have that.  Look at Flangan, and even Miramar has fell off a bit.   (With Miramar I've noticed an inverse relationship with Carol City lol)  One is up the other is down.  And Carol City looks to stick around.

As far as the playoffs MNW, CC, BTW, Central have been in classes that rarely contain the best in Broward.

All that being said 305 is still king.

Columbus has always been an all-boys school, which probably discouraged some kids from attending.  And they have always had a large latin population, and many of those kids grew up in families where football was not king.  Those are some possible reasons why it did not become a St Thomas of Dade.

Interestingly, Northwestern, Booker T and Central did not emerge as powers until the late 90's/early 2000's.

Very good point and so true.

You may already know, but Chaminade was all-boys until the late 80's, when they merged with all-girls school Madonna(like Curley and Notre Dame did in the early 80's).  Financial considerations drove those changes.

That change seemed to pave the way for a much more diverse student body on a number of fronts.

    • Complaining about North Florida slappies losing to South Florida powers is like someone graduating high school complaining that companies are only hiring college graduates and not them. And then a company saying ok to make it fair, we will open division and only hire high school graduates.
    • First I want to express my apologies for my absence the last few months. Without going into much detail I have had some personal life struggles I have been dealing with on top of figuring out the direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com in. Things have finally settled out some over the last few weeks although I am not completely out of the woods just yet. Some of the decisions about what direction to take FloridaHSFootball.com have been forming over this time while I went through things. Part of me wondered if it was time to go, but really it is not at all. Thankfully, a loyal supporter near me in Gainesville decided to put their mouth where their money is and did a little investing and today FloridaHSFootball.com launched its first-ever Mobile App. With that said it comes with the sunset of the MVP Membership Subscriptions and thus FloridaHSFootball.com will be 100% free for the first time in a while. This comes as needing to get the clearances with Apple and Google and the current subscription platform we have is not syncing with Apple's system nor with the App itself. Its best we go in this direction to grow fans again and being able to put them facing forward with an app on their phone going forward. Here are the download links for the apps: iOS (Apple): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/floridahsfootball-com/id6477621728 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floridahsfootball.app&hl=en_US&gl=US   For now the forums will not be available directly in the app. At some point I maybe looking at changing the whole forum software that could eventually integrate into the app. It will be a while before this happens so things will go on as they are here.   I also apologize for any of the spam and troll accounts that have managed to find their way around the security protocols in setting up new accounts. It seems every day these things find ways to pass through control systems. I am going to be looking at getting this solved and will keep an eye on things here as we go along.   Please feel free to reach out to me if you all need anything, want to chat or have any suggestions.   -- Josh
    • They can definitely beat Central. My bulls is a toss up but I feel we should have the edge. EJ will be hard to stop though. Glad they not in 2A with us.
